Cambridge, great sound, not so sure on reliability
Scott from LONE TREE, CO on 5/23/2025
Awesome sound, terrible reliability. Brief summation is that when it works it was amazing, sounds a lot better than my Apple 4k 3rd gen. Spacious and open sound, beautiful detail... But it has issues with Air Play and Amazon Music where it will either disconnect and reconnect, or today, just produce NO sound out of any app other than the Internet Radio. Factory reset, nothing. Re-install their app on phone, nothing. Disconnect and reconnect to wi-fi did nothing. Anyway, I can't find much info on net to fix so I decided this isn't worth my time messing with when my 4k works fine and I'll find a better unit down the road.
Pros: Incredible detailed, open sound.
Cons: Connection issues hamper this unit big time...

Easy to install and to connect with Qobuz. The sound is incredible, particularly for the price - plenty of air, great soundstage width and depth. I'm looking forward to hearing old favorites anew - and discovering new favorites via Qobuz.

Impressive Music Streamer
William from Millstone Twp, NJ on 4/14/2025
I have been looking for an upgrade to my existing Pioneer N-50 DLNA certified network audio player over the past couple of years and have considered similar offerings from Bluesound, NAD, Cambridge Audio and WiiM, ranging from several hundred to a couple of thousand dollars. The MXN10 incorporates an ESS SABRE ES9033Q DAC capable of playing hi resolution files up to up to 32-bit/768kHz, which stood out as a differentiator over most. My music collection is comprised of CDs as well as a FLAC lossless format copy stored on a Synology DS220J NAS. A Parasound P4 preamp, A23 amplifier, NAD C545BEE CD Player, Monitor Audio Silver RX-8 Speakers and Monitor Audio Radius 380 Subwoofer round out my system. Although the 192khz 24bit DAC in my N-50 did a great job of rendering the FLAC files; I felt playing the actual CD in my NAD CD player provided a warmer, more complete soundstage. So, for more casual listening, I would stream music from my NAS, but play the CD version if I wanted a more immersive audio experience. This has changed with the introduction of the MXN10 to my system; which provides a noticeable soundstage improvement to my NAS based music files, with better highs, midrange and bass clarity. Needless to say, this has convinced me that CD quality sound may be had from a NAS music collection with the appropriate music streamer such as the Cambridge Audio MXN10.
Pros: Initial setup was extremely easy; I use a wired network connection. StreamMagic app is easy to navigate and works well with music stored on my NAS drive. Works with other music streaming apps, such as Synology DS Audio. Excellent DAC.
Cons: I would note that there is no display on the MXN10 nor is a remote control provided for those seeking these features; however, I rarely use the remote or display on my existing Pioneer N50.

MXN10 - "WOW"
Kent from Vancouver, WA on 4/7/2025
This is an amazing little streamer. It was a little difficult to get connected to my wireless network, I tried using my Android phone first and I was unable to get it connected. So then I tried my Apple iPhone with the provided instructions and I was connected in a matter of seconds. I would definitely use an Apple device for the initial wireless connection if possible. Once I was successfully connected, I was able to use my Android phone for everything else. The MXN10 sounds absolutely fantastic. I connected to my NAS device and I was able to stream 192kHz 24Bit music (Flac files) with ease. I also connected a 1TB SSD filled with DSD (.dsf) files and the sound was terrific. The MXN10 has a slightly warmer sound than my Bluesound Node 2i. I am extremely happy with my purchase!

Sweet Piece of Audio Gear
Gary from Santa Fe, NM on 3/21/2025
I have this unit connected to the internet via ethernet, and via RCA to a Hegel H160 integrated amp, which is powering Harbeth Compact 7ES-3 speakers. Before purchasing the MXN10, I was using Airplay to stream directly to the Hegel from Tidal. The sound was good, but with some noticeable deficits. With the MXN10 hooked up, I'm now playing files via Cambridge's native StreamMagic app. The sonic improvements are obvious and significant: tonal accuracy, detail, soundstage, etc. are all notably upgraded. There is a sense of sonic integration and richness to recordings that wasn't there before, making the listening experience really satisfying. I find the app fine overall, and only wish it exactly mirrored Tidal's interface because I enjoy some of the personalized suggestions that aren't available via StreamMagic. I haven't used any other features of the unit yet, so can't comment on those. The MXN10 is an excellent upgrade for my system and an incredible value for the money.

Great component, frustrating interface
Carl from Greenville, SC on 3/15/2025
Not as detailed as my separates playing LP's and CD's, a little softer, but as it opens doors to genres and bands I don't own, it's good enough to keep me happy. Would've given 5 stars, but has to be one of the most miserable interfaces I've worked with. Had to bring in a pro (buddy who's been in the 2-channel and home theater business for over 40 years) to finally get it connected to my wifi and playing, and even he had to work at it. Was considering the CXN100 as an upgrade based on reviews, but hesitating cause I'll have to go through setup again.
Pros: Sound Price
Cons: !@#$%& connection

I purchased this based on strong recommendations and was using a Wiim Pro for about 2 months. Got delivery, hooked it up and had some issues connecting to it via the app. After fiddling around with it, I finally got it to work. Not many settings and the user interface is easy to navigate, especially with my Synology box that stored all of my music files. Ran a few test tracks from Apple Music and my local files and noticed an immediate improvement in sound - warmer, more detailed and life-like. Great product for the price. Giving 4 stars because of the lack of documentation on setup/ease of setup.

Very Clean Sound and Great Interface
Dan from Ansonia, CT on 1/12/2025
I bought this unit as an upgrade from a DragonFly Red. Initially my intent was simply ease of use. The streaming aspect of this unit meant I no longer had to plug in to my receiver using an aux. From that standpoint alone it is worth every dollar. The Stream-Magic app works seamlessly with Tidal, and it makes my listing experience more convenient than I ever imagined. It's also important to note that you can control the output volume via Tidal when using the Coaxial output, which is exactly what I was looking for. What took me by surprise was how good it made ALL of my music sound. My setup is a Technics 5760 receiver and Cerwin Vega VE12 speakers that have been upgraded with better drivers & crossovers. It may not be 'audiophile quality' but it is, in my opinion, a very good sounding system with great value. This unit let me hear, firsthand, how important the input signal is. The detail and soundstage are cleaner than I ever thought it could be. With my DragonFly, some recordings sounded so poor that it was barely listenable. That is not the case with the MXN10. This unit makes every track I play sound great. On top of that, Tidal now has some 24 Bit FLAC songs that sound nothing short of incredible with this unit. It really makes me wonder if I should take it a step further with the DAC Magic. For now, this unit has exceeded my expectations, I can confidently say that it is one of the best additions I have ever made to my stereo. Thanks to Crutchfield for recommending this.
Pros: SEAMLESS Use with Tidal Improved detail, Imaging, and Clarity Makes poor recordings listenable 24-Bit FLAC compatible Deep & Full sounding Bass Well built and looks great
Cons: None other than I wish I bought it sooner

Glorious and holographic sound!
KHOA from Pleasant Hill, CA on 12/26/2024
The player was easy to hookup and there is no remote. The instructions to set up the player to Blue Tooth are very skimpy, difficult to follow. I have not been able to set it up in Blue Tooth yet but was still able to play by installing my music service Qobuz to the downloaded StreamMagic app. However, all the trouble with the set up is worth it once I was able to play the unit. The sound is livelier, more holographic than that of my previous BlueSound Node player. I found myself listening to the selections in my playlist in Qobuz all day long. Sounds as good as an excellent CD player. Highly recommended!
Pros: Great and involving sound!
Cons: Difficult to set up in Blue Tooth!

Pros: Sound stage, separation, dynamics, fidelity.

Pretty Great!
Jeff from Yountville, CA on 12/12/2024
This unit far exceeded my expectations. I had read about it in "Stereophile" magazine, and it was rated class A. Few items under a small fortune get this rating. I thought what the heck try it out. Amazing sonics, the Stream App was pretty easy to set up even for a luddite such as my self. It ran great with Roon and Tidal. I ran this both through RCA cable to my VTL pre amp/Nakamichi PA-5 amp, and through Digital Coax to a Topping DAC Balanced to MC352 integrated. In a world of many disappointments, this was a pleasant surprise.

The Cambridge Audio MXN10 is a fantastic streamer with an easy setup. The best part about Cambridge's products is they consistently support their tech with updates well into the future. The sound on this streamer is warm and inviting. It marries well with a variety of low and high watt amplifiers and speakers! It's a great all-arounder, well-made full metal body, and shoots well above its price point. So great we bought a second one.
Pros: It is sold by Crutchfield. Our go-to dealer for all our music needs.

This is the third Cambridge Audio product I have purchased from Crutchfield. First off, Crutchfield is an excellent company; easy to contact and very helpful with questions regarding products. For the MNX10, I am running it through a Cambridge Audio DAC Magic 2000 using a Toslink optical cable, which allows me to utilize the DAC in the DAC Magic. I have Tidal has my streaming service. Set-up was quick and and easy, and the sound quality is excellent with very good imaging. I would prefer a dedicated remote rather than using the Stream-magic app. I recommend this product.
Pros: Excellent sound quality

Sorta happy but will look elsewhere
Crutchfield customer from Tucson, AZ on 5/29/2024
This is a nice unit at a good price. It streams reliably from either a USB flash drive or over wireless from my Plex server and sounds great using the internal DAC. All good. Where it has trouble is talking to home servers. Right now it gets a 2 star deduction for undocumented restrictions on album naming used on servers. My collection is ripped using keb and abcde on a Linux machine and then stored on an Ubuntu server running Plex. All music on this server streams perfectly to tvs and computers that have the Plex app perfectly. Sadly the MXN10 appears to use Microsoft centric file system libraries (FAT32 and NTFS) which cannot handle certain characters in file & song names. When it sees a song with these characters it won't enque the song or album. To get past this I will probably have to rename a lot of media by hand. The other issue that when accessing a new flash drive plugged in the back the unit becomes 100% unresponsive until it's done. With a 256GB flash it essentially never respond in a reasonable time. One other point - this devices uses a phone app. If the app every becomes unavailable the unit will become an unusable lump of electronics.
Pros: Good sound for the price
Cons: Uses a phone app only. Bad file name restrictions Slow response when accessing USB

Purchase and shipping experience was excellent (as usual with Crutchfield). The unit is great - super easy to set up and the IOS app is very intuitive. Cambridge has some great online resources that enabled a non-tech savvy person like me to be able to play music from my PC hard drive (that's in another room) through the streamer. Connections to Spotify, Mixcloud etc work really smoothly. Sound quality vastly improved compared to the Bluetooth link I was using before.

Affordable HiRes Streaming
Guest from Silver Springs, FL on 1/21/2024
I bought the MXN 10 about a month ago. So far I am very pleased with my purchase. The StreamMagic software is fantastic. The software is very easy to use and multiple family members have their own access to stream their own content. Initially, I used RCA cables to connect my streamer to my Marantz AV 7706. I was unimpressed with the onboard DAC on the MXN10. I switched to a coaxial digital cable to use the DAC in my Marantz and was blown away. I stream HiRes Flac files from Qobuz and the sound is next level. I am very happy with my purchase and I do recommend this product.
Pros: StreamMagic software is fantastic The unit is small Multiple outputs RCA, digital coaxial & optical
Cons: The onboard DAC is only ok

Great plug and play streamer + DAC
Andrew from CLINTON, WA on 1/7/2024
The CA MXN10 is a great option for someone looking for a quality streamer + DAC to add as a source to their stereo. I returned the unit for one reason, the digital output does not support volume control, this is probably fine for most people who want to use their DAC and preamp volume controls. My DAC & preamp supports Volume Control Bypass, which allows the digital source (Think Roon, AirPlay, Spotify Connect) to control the volume. However with the CA MXN10 using the digital out this feature is disabled and I have to use the pre-amp remote volume control. However with RCA Line out you can control the volume so if that works for your setup that gives you even more flexibility. The DAC is good, and you'd need to spend ~$1500 or more on DAC to get something that is actually better. It supports a large variety of formats, and for fun I had Roon upscale all my music to DSD 256 and play it out the MXN10 and without any issues. I used it for 3 weeks during the holidays, so lots of use and I never had an issue with the unit. I only used the CA StreamMagic app for settings, we used Roon (90% of the time), Spotify Connect, and Airplay for our playlist / listening. I did test the USB input from my iPad and MacBook, and I tested the optical in, no noticeable issues or unexpected audible differences with any of the inputs/outputs. I did 99% of the streaming with it plugged into an ethernet so I cannot comment on the wifi capabilities of the unit. I preferred

I use for music and prefer sound quality over volume. I can hear improved sound when using Cambridge MXN10 DAC. Even better than Node X. Node X does have sub out (did not sound as good as AVR) and remote. I compared them side by side. It's great Crutchfield let's you use before you buy and have people to talk to. I had to learn how to use the advisors knowledge rather than them just putting stuff in my cart. I understand their side of the operation, but I don't see how they can profit from that business model.

I went down the network streamer rabbit hole. I tried the Ifi Zen streamer and also a WiiM Pro. The Ifi Zen is a complete waste of time. It is wonky with it's network connection, and I didn't like those annoying red/blue/white led lights on the front of it. It is a horrible unit in my opinion. Having to power cycle that unit, turn the screw in the back to setup mode, reconnect to the network became a pain in the rear end. The WiiM Pro on the other hand is not bad for the price. The app is pretty good and you get a lot of input/output connectivity options. The Cambridge Audio Mxn10 is better built than the WiiM, the Cambridge app gets a slight nod over the WiiM Pro app. Cambridge also released an update that allows you to control the volume from within the app itself. The Cambridge does sound better than the WiiM Pro, whether connected to my Parasound P6 using its built in dac or the internal dac of the Cambridge. I demo'd all 3 in home at the same time. It's not a night/day difference, but it is noticeable when A/B'n products back to back. I found the Cambridge unit on sale as an open box unit and was able to save 150 bucks on the retail price. If you can score the Cambridge for less then retail, its the obvious best choice. If not, I'm not sure I'd pay 3 times the price of the Wiim Pro. It's a solid, good sounding unit!
Pros: The app is easy to use App was updated to allow volume control from within the app It's well built Sound is great, better than the Ifi or WiiM Pro in my tests 2 yr warranty - 3 yrs if you register the unit online
Cons: Price - see if you can find an open box or scratch and dent. Still beats any streamer for $500 or less hands down.

Wonderful audiophile piece of equipment
Jeff from Alexandria on 8/2/2023
Wow. I had an iFi Zen Stream that loved to "brick up" and, totally frustrated, I tried a "low cost" WiiM Pro as a substitute. Immediately after plugging in the WiiM I could tell it was not as good as the Zen Stream (returned that to Amazon). I then discovered that Cambridge Audio had recently introduced the MXN10 so I thought I would give it a try. It was easy to set up, connect to Roon and my NAS music files and WOW, they sound as good or better than the iFi stream. I compared its internal DAC to my Schiit Bifrost (which I like) and the MXN DAC is every bit as good as the Schiit (they are actually identical to me in A-B comparisons, and even have the same gain). My power amp is a Bryston. The StreamMagic iPhone/iPad app is also very user-friendly and well designed. You can't miss with this unit. High audiophile quality and performance for a great price.
Pros: Quality of sound. Ease of set-up. Roon capability as well as the iOS apps for iPhone and iPad.
Cons: nothing I can think of. Some people might want a graphic display -- but I don't need it as I use iPad and PC to control it.
