offer a backup cam only harness
Taylor from Anthem, AZ on 2/28/2025
2012 Dodge Truck 2500
i'd give it 5 stars if they would make a cut down version for trucks that don't have the rear dvd entertainement system, all that is needed if you dont have it is the one camera input and the ground, you dont need all of the other wires, i'll have to remove them all myself now

Worked great but I don't understand why when i ordered a complete installation kit for my 2013 dodge grand caravan: this wasn't offered as an option in any of the choices. Had it been offered: I would've ordered it initially rather than finding it and ordering it after the fact and having to pay for shipping again.

Must have to retain stock reverse camera
Andrew from Iowa City, IA on 5/15/2024
2012 Volkswagen Routan
Crutchfield may suggest the HRN-AV-CH1 is not compatible with your head unit if the head unit does not support VES playback for the rear seat entertainment. The HRN-AV-CH1 harness is still needed to use the stock reverse camera with an aftermarket head unit.
Pros: Easy to install
Cons: Was told that this adapter was not compatible with the Boss head unit.

This is nut a piece of the whole pie
David from Yerington, NV on 2/13/2024
2016 Dodge Grand Caravan
This was but a small piece of the whole puzzle of replacing the factory system in my 2017 dodge grand caravan. There was also the stereo (with Apple car play) and the other adapters. The key was the maestro interface. I used to install stereos for a living when 8 track tape players were the rage (look it up). We had to cut and splice wires and figure out what did what. The system from Crutchfield made this a plug and play operation. I worked with their online chat guy (sorry, forgot his name) who helped me select the right stereo and various adapters. The install retained all the steering wheel functionality and even gave me more data through the CAN bus than I get from the factory display. I installed the system in a couple hours. Only hitch is sometimes the radio claims the GPS antenna is not connected so wireless Apple car play does not work. Restarting the vehicle fixes it. If that one annoyance were not there, the system would be perfect!
Pros: So easy to install
Cons: Stereo has one little glitch. Sometimes does not recognize the gps antennae.

Easy setup with this connector even though all the pieces made it a crazy mess and a ton of confusing wires to go through and connect just to make it work.
Pros: Good setup
Cons: Lots of wires, connector and having to hook up a ton of other things was terrible and lots of wires.

I only needed the harness for the rear view camera. I took away a star because all the RCA jacks on take up a lot of room and I had to cut the ones I was not using off. Not planning on adding additional cameras or rear entertainment systems, just an annoyance.
Pros: Provide the connector I needed
Cons: Too many RCA jacks make it hard to fit in dash areas that do not have a lot of space

2015 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited
Harness is good as is the Meastro one that I ordered with it. This review is for both together. I had no issues with getting harnesses to eventually connect to the Alpine ilx-w650. However, I had to refer to the great Crutchfield support team for some open ended issues as I installed the head unit. Even Crutchfield (and iDatalink) had the fit designation correct for my 2015 Jeep Wrangler Sahara JK with alpine sound , the notes regarding that ilx-w650 and harness fit should have included: 1. Fader will not work if Jeep has Alpine factory sound, but sound is going to all speakers & SW. 2. Wiring instructions will come from iDatalink..not Crutchfield. Did not know that until I got the harness and flashed the Meastro unit as instructed by Crutchfield support. 3. A wire will need to be connected to the harness and spliced into the Emergency Parking brake cable to allow for access to ilx-w650 system setup (on screen) to work. This is a known solution, but not evident until install and after tech support. This should be included up front. Overall, the harnesses are good. Just understand the ilx-650 is a no-frills system without a lot of integration brains. But its a very nice system and once hooked up with the harness correctly, all is good ...and worth the effort to save a lot of money..

Retained OEM controls and gained so much more
Crutchfield customer from Pomeroy, OH on 12/2/2019
2012 Ram 1500
Retained the factory steering wheel controls & backup camera in my 2012 Ram 1500 Laramie w/ factory Alpine system. Additionally, I gained additional information via my OBD-II. Double check the iDatalink Maestro website to see what features your head unit supports. I chose a Kenwood over the Alpine I had initially picked out for my truck just for the added gauges and diagnostic features. Their website makes cross-referencing vehicles and head units a breeze.
Pros: Seamless factory retention, additional diagnostic features, self-programmable, instructions were fairly simple.
Cons: Price seems high at first, but still worth every penny.

Needed this on my 2008 Chrysler T&C with VES when installing a Pioneer NEX head unit. There are no installation instructions (negative), but it seemed straight forward. Crutchfield customer service also helped. Plug 'IN' to 'IN' with the RCA cables. For the RCA out, I used the rear video out and the mini audio plug (mini to Red/White RCA) per the pioneer manual for a rear display. This kept both the VES and a 2nd output so that both rear screens can play different sources. This also allowed me to keep the factory backup camera.

Worked Perfectly for Backup Camera
Kirk from Pasadena, MD on 6/14/2016
2013 Dodge Durango
I recently installed a Pioneer AVIC-8200 NEX and an iDatalink Maestro RR so I could use the steering buttons with the receiver. Only problem is the Maestro doesn't have connections to allow you to keep the OEM backup camera. The iDatalink site and the Crutchfield advisor stated I would need to install an aftermarket backup camera in order to have one again. But, when I removed the OEM receiver I found that it had a wiring harness for a rear entertainment setup and the backup camera uses this harness so i ordered the AVCH 1. When it arrived, I plugged it into the OEM entertainment harness and the camera input on the AVIC-8200 NEX. I reinstalled the receiver, started the engine and what do you know, the OEM backup camera is working.
