Q
Hi, I upgraded to my radio to Kenwood DDX6906s. Now my steering wheel controls don't work. My question is, do I still need the iDatalink Maestro RR Interface Module plus this harness to restore my controls? I obviously don't know much of these things. Thanks!

Yes, you will need both the module and the harness. I have both in my 2016 Crosstrek and the steering wheel controls work properly with my Kenwood HU. You will also need to "program" the iDatalink module before installing. That is easy enough to do, just a matter of picking the right picture of your steering wheel button configuration during the programming process.

Yes the combination of this harness and the Maestro RR will allow continued use of you steering wheel controls, backup camera and it will provide your head unit with other information from your ODBII connection to be displayed on the screen.

Q
do i need to use obd2 harness? i have a subaru and i want to retain the backup camera, radio, ect. i dont have steering wheel controls or vehicle data that needs to be observed. would this still work without the OBDII port connected? also does the reverse camera need a 12v to 6v step down? thanks

Brett, No, you don't need it, but I would highly recommend it. It is pain free to install and provides an array of features. Install it! 12v/6v depends on head unit, I believe.

Hi Brett. I recently upgraded the stereo in my 2018 Subaru WRX and this is everything that I purchased and needed for the job: Metra 40-LX11 Antenna Adapter, Scosche SU2031B Dash Kit Gloss Black, iDatalink Maestro ADS-MRR Interface Module, iDatalink HRN-RR-SU2 Interface Harness. With that I still have radio, backup camera, and steering wheel controls. Alex Z.

Hey Brett I wish I could give you a better answer then this but I went aftermarket with everything. I always have the OBD port occupied to receive vehicle info with my Kenwood 9905s. I did not have the oem deck and camera. My camera I installed and all works good. I maintained all steering wheel controls. I had to customize mine for personal use which is a plus for information you want. In addition to a single press of the stearing wheel buttons you can do a long press for an additional function. All information is accurate tire oresssure, RPMS, temps, etc... that is about as much information I can give you. Oh and yes I needed the subaru newest version harness which I have a 2012 outback.

Everything in the pic is what u need. I didn't have to buy anything extra. Idk anything about 12v to 6v. Everything was straight forward

The OBDII port is just for tire pressure, check engine codes etc. For the backup camera and radio you shouldnt need it, if you flash the proper firmware on the datalink box it should be a snap
