2014 Subaru BRZ Install
Gbenga from Baldwin, NY on 4/28/2025
2014 Subaru BRZ
Great Install on a 2014 BRZ. No changes were required per the instructions sent (4/2025) . Very important to note this since there are several outdated harness instructions running around on YouTube/86 Forums for a Sony Headunit install. Will note the 4-Pin Maestro RR input is not shown on the harness assembly drawing for the 86 platform. Obvious connection, but might save others some time if this is shown as a connection back to the head unit. Prevents the double red flash from the Maestro unit. Thanks!

A necessity with Maestro adapters
Bradley from Austin, TX on 4/6/2025
2019 Subaru WRX
Not perfect, but if you are using a Maestro RR adapter this is a necessity.
Pros: Greatly simplifies the install.
Cons: Manual connections are still needed. Kinda expensive for just a bunch of wiring adapters.

Time waster
Michael from Tucson, AZ on 10/16/2024
2016 Subaru Crosstrek
The first one had contact pins pop out and another unresolved issue resulting in the rear speakers and TPMS not working. The second fixed those issues. Lack of troubleshooting info resulted in numerous phone calls to Crutchfield and Automotive Data Solutions, and hours of wasted time diagnosing the problems.
Pros: Finally worked
Cons: Lots of problems = lots of hours wasted

2016 Subaru Outback 2.5 Limited w/HK, Nav, ES
Jerod from Burke, VA on 6/24/2024
2016 Subaru Outback
Works as advertised. Used with iData Maestro RR Interface model on 2016 Subaru Outback 2.5 Limited w/HK, Nav, ES. Host vehicle dependent, but you may need to "splice" one or more wires. For instance, I had to splice a single Subaru StarLink wire. The host wire was a single wire in an 8-pin connector. I cut it at the 8-pin, stripped it and used an in-line wago connector to join the host wire to the wire harness.
Pros: No splicing!!! Plugs right into stock harnesses
Cons: None

This harness is fantastic! Used this to install the iDatalink Maestro RR Interface Module in my 2016 Subaru Impreza. There are so many different wires but this made connecting the Maestro unit a breeze. All of the wire color coding matched current standards were needed, the factory wiring connectors all fit perfectly, the instructions were easy to follow (especially the beautiful wiring diagram broken down into easy to follow steps), and I've never used a wiring harness so well labelled! This made what would have been the most time consuming part of the install one of the easiest steps instead.
Pros: Labels on all the important or optional wires Easy to understand wiring diagram Perfect fit to factory wiring harnesses
Cons: Can't think of any

Set this up in my house, because it was below zero outside. Installed radio, then later found not everything worked as expected. You can't review your setup with out the iDatalink connected. So, you can't after the fact go back and see if you should have programmed it differently.
Pros: Mostly works. Was easy to program.
Cons: Can't review your iDatalink setup with out it being connected to the device

once crutchfield sent me the correct equipment, set up was good but long. lots of little things to do to get it correct. Info on website was wrong about the stock stereo and after a 1 hour convo to the help line, even stumped them with what product works. Had to purchase locally an antenna adapter as they forgot to ship one. Luckily my install partner used to do this as a second job many years ago.
Pros: works great
Cons: Hard to find correct equipment, Sent wrong stuff, forgot to send other equipment and adapters.

Brian from Ocala, FL on 11/23/2023
2015 Subaru Outback
Works ok.finally. Flashed this thing multiple times and kept getting an error (2 red lights flashing) and the head unit wouldn't boot up. Crutchfield even sent me a new head unit. Finally determined with the help of maestro tech support that if you connect the usb cord to power the factory usb hub, it causes this fault. Had to leave the factory usb ports disconnected which is disappointing, as they sold me on being able to use the factory USB's. Also, be careful downloading the pdf wiring instructions. It will be 600 pages and your vehicle may be on page 250.
Pros: Works as advertised except.
Cons: Factory USB ports couldn't be used.

Makes Connections Easy
Teng Keng from Broomfield, CO on 3/15/2023
2015 Subaru Legacy
If you bought the maestro unit, this is a must. However, what you don't realize if you try to rush is that you won't need everything in this kit. So pay attention to the online instructions specific to your vehicle before ransacking through the packaging. You might find out you only need half of the cables/harnesses that come with it. Oh, and super important that you follow the wiring diagram to a t. I accidentally connected a set of harnesses that I wasn't supposed to and it resulted in the speakers cutting off whenever the light sensor turned off my auto headlights on my 2015 Subaru Legacy. If this is you, look for a green harness that you may have accidentally connected but weren't supposed to. When in doubt, look at the wiring diagram.
Pros: Makes the connections easier
Cons: You may not realize right away that you don't need everything in the box to connect your head unit to the maestro.

The iDatalink bundle is fantastic. I replaced OEM radio with a Sony and the extra parts ordered allowed the steering wheel controls to function. Jason from CEDAR PARK, TX on 11/8/2022
2015 Subaru WRX
Pretty much required if you want to keep your OEM functions, connect directly to your OEM connections, and use all/most of your OEM wiring. All vehicle specific wiring adapters and connections are included so in most cases there is not too much cutting and/or splicing required (depending on vehicle specific functions and new stereo hardware capabilities). As mentioned by other reviewers though, the wiring diagrams and connections information needs to be updated and additional model information added. Mine was fairly easy to figure out based on my OEM functions and OEM adapter connections. I only had a couple "trial and error" connections to complete to get everything working. One additional pro that came with my model car and choice of head unit upgrade was that this harness allowed me to get additional information and features to my new head unit as well as with my OEM hardware.
Pros: - Simplifies installation - Retains OEM functions and options - Connects directly to OEM adapters - All wiring for OEM function connections included
Cons: - Adds additional wiring to tuck back into your dash - Wiring connections diagrams need to be updated with additional model information
