The package includes connectors that plug in between the Maestro module and your factory radio's wiring plugs. You'll have to solder or splice together this harness's power/ground, illumination, speaker, and navigation output wires to the corresponding wires on your aftermarket receiver's wiring harness.

An iDatalink-ready car stereo takes full advantage of this harness

If you're buying a compatible iDatalink-ready car stereo, you'll enjoy the outstanding performance of your receiver, plus seamless touchscreen control over most of the factory features in select Toyota-built vehicles, including your backup camera and vehicle settings menu. You'll also appreciate the additional features added by the adapter, including the ability to view performance gauges and vehicle information on the screen with select iDatalink-ready receivers. Features

Toyota Harness: The iDatalink Maestro HRN-HRR-TO2 installation harness greatly simplifies the installation of the Maestro RR or RR2 Car Radio Replacement Interface module (sold separately) in select Toyota vehicles when replacing your factory radio with an iDatalink Serial Port compatible head unit from Kenwood, JVC, Alpine, Sony, and Pioneer; or other aftermarket head unit.

  • Vehicle Compatibility: Click here for a list of compatible Toyota vehicles.
  • Radio Compatibility: Click here for a list of fully compatible aftermarket head units with an iDatalink Serial Port.
Notes: The iDatalink Maestro HRN-HRR-TO2 installation harness requires the purchase of the iDatalink Maestro RR or RR2 (sold separately).

Head Unit Connection: The HRN-HRR-TO2 supports iDatalink's Direct T-Harnesses (sold separately) for direct connection to select iDatalink Serial Port compatible head units (including Kenwood, JVC, Alpine, Sony, and Pioneer radios) - replacing the wiring harness that comes with your aftermarket stereo (some hardwiring may still be required). If connecting to an aftermarket head unit that does not support an iDatalink Direct T-Harness, you'll need to cut off and remove the 20-pin black connector from the HRN-HRR-TO2 harness and splice each wire directly to the aftermarket radio's corresponding wire.

Flashing Module via Weblink Desktop: The iDatalink Maestro RR or RR2 will need to be loaded with correct firmware before installation. The included USB cable plugs into your computer and allows you to "flash" the Maestro RR with the appropriate firmware to prepare it for installation. Simply download Weblink Desktop (for Windows and Mac) onto your computer to access the appropriate firmware. System requirements include -

  • Windows PC (10/8.1/8/7/Vista/XP/2000) or Mac OS X (Mojave [10.14], HighSierra [10.13], Sierra [10.12], El-Capitan [10.11])
  • Available USB port (version 2.0 or 3.0)
  • 4GB RAM or more
  • 200MB available space on HDD
  • Internet connection

Retained Features: The following factory features (if applicable) are retained when replacing your factory radio with a compatible iDatalink Serial Port head unit from Kenwood, JVC, Alpine, or Pioneer using the Maestro RR or RR2 Car Radio Replacement Interface module and HRN-HRR-TO2 installation harness.

  • Factory Amplifier: The factory analog or digital amplifier is retained with turn-on, fader, and gain control.
  • Steering Wheel Controls: Factory steering wheel controls are retained with two function buttons and expandable radio functions.
  • Vehicle Settings: Access and modify factory vehicle settings through the compatible aftermarket head unit's touchscreen.
  • Secondary Vehicle Display: Secondary vehicle display is retained (if factory equipped) with audio information, hands-free information, and internal navigation.
  • Advanced Camera Features: Factory backup camera is retained with dynamic parking guidelines, along with factory 360 camera. If you add an aftermarket front and/or side cameras (sold separately) to your idatalink compatible head unit that is equipped with multiple camera inputs, the vehicle's factory auto camera switching feature is also retained.

Note: When installing an aftermarket head unit without the iDatalink Serial Port, only steering wheel control, factory amplifier, and backup camera are retained.

Extra Features: The following Extra features are added when replacing your aftermarket head unit with a compatible iDatalink Serial Port head unit from Kenwood, JVC, Pioneer, or Alpine using the Maestro RR or RR2 Car Radio Replacement Interface module and HRN-HRR-TO2 installation harness.

  • Vehicle Info: Tire Pressure Display, Battery Voltage Display, Read/Reset Engine Codes, and Door Open Status with Warning.
  • Gauges: Selectable Performance Gauges, "Track Pack" Gauges, and Read/Reset Check Engine Codes.

Outputs: The HRN-HRR-TO2 provides Navigation, Accessory Power, and Illumination Outputs to make installation simpler.

Customer Q&A

4 questions already asked

Q
This harness has an A and B labeled subassembly in the kit. Do some 4Runners not use both of those? I am not utilizing one of them and wanted to make sure it was extra and not applicable.

A
Greetings Ryan. Thank you for your question. You would use either A or B depending on which fits the factory camera plug. Not both A and B.

Q
So this harness will connect to my steering wheel controls to work with my head unit?
banny  Dec 07, 2023
1 answer

Q
I have a 2017 sienna with jbl used hrrto2 harness which has me using a rf out and lf out rca to connect to dnr1007x radio. Everything works but sound is very low. Radio has 3 sets of rcas, which one does harness rca plug into?
benedict  Dec 10, 2022
1 answer
A
Those RCA cables should be connected to the front left/right RCA outputs. If that's the connections you are already using on your Kenwood radio, then we recommend contacting technical support for help. Our technical support can be contacted for help troubleshooting any gear purchased from us and we include their toll free phone number on the order invoice.

Q
In order to retain factory USB, do I also need to get the separate USB adapter, or is that already integrated into this harness?
john  Dec 07, 2022
1 answer
A
If you can retain your original USB with an iDatalink Maestro install package using this HRN-HRR-TO2 harness with your specific vehicle John, you will need a separate USB adapter. Make sure to punch your ride's specific year, make, model, and trim into our online Vehicle Guide in the link below. Once you select your radio, we will show you the options for install gear to keep all the original features you love! https://www.crutchfield.com/m_266150/Car-Stereos.html
