Great sound, great looks, great versatility

Upgraded from some classic Klipsch reference speakers and am blown away at how much low end these throw your way while still being fairly compact. Probably the smallest speaker footprint that doesn't require a subwoofer in a small space (I know, I know, get a woofer if you have the layout option anyway) and has a lot more depth than other options at a similar price point. I've listened to everything from gentle Sufjan Stevens songs to jacking house on these and the balance is always crisp and resonant and the bass is pounding. Have also added some nice oomph to TV watching. Very happy with the purchase and love the slight modern twist on a timeless bookshelf aesthetic with the grill.

Sound very even and neutral in my 250 sqft room and have been super enjoyable to listen to. Bass extension is really good and don't think I would consider a sub absolutely necessary. Ash finish is stunning in person and doesn't make the speakers visually dominate a space like black does.

Exceptional clarity and bass, great soundstage

I bought the Monitor Audio Silver 100 7G speakers back in May 2024. The MA speakers produce great sound -- crystal clear highs, great punch, detailed, full bass. Others who've heard them with my NAD T758v3 amplifier were amazed by the clear and powerful sound. I can turn up the NAD as loud as I want - no distortion. My ears will go before the speakers do. I don't think you'll find other bookshelf speakers with the low range these have. Midrange and highs do not suffer -- both perfectly represented. I recommend bi-wiring/bi-amping them for maximum clarity and dynamic sound.

Amazing speakers. They sound fantastic. I've had various other well known speakers over my lifetime and these far exceed all of them. Great soundstage and imaging. A very well balanced speaker for my 70's rock vinyl collection. They are hefty, so sturdy stands will be needed. Highly recommend.

Balanced but with Some Brightness

Randy from San Francisco, CA on 10/30/2024

Verified employee review (What's this?)

These speakers are fantastic. They are neutral and true to the source material, so much so that some music I like listening to sounds... less than stellar. I need to run filters on certain albums, something I haven't had to do with past speakers. That said, music that was recorded well sounds amazing. These are not warm sounding speakers. I've run these without a sub and they sound great. As other reviewers have stated, bass is really good and you may not need a sub depending on your preference. I've been going back and forth between no sub and dual KEF KC62 subs and I am considering selling my subs to make more room in my small apartment. Bass is that good and I can't crank the subs anyway due to shared walls with neighbors. These also play well at low volumes, even with my 60wpc amp. Coming from Elac UBR62s, the Silver 100s are brighter and more lively sounding in my space, which is what I was looking for. Mid-range is not as forward and is less warm sounding than the UBR62. The Silver 100s grab more detail from the music. Overall, I'm very pleased with these. I'm running them with a Lyngdorf TDAI-1120 and dual KEF KC62 subs (wireless). It's a simple setup. I only have one place to put these in my apartment and it is not good. I'm using RoomPerfect to smooth out all of the issues with my space and make these speakers sound way better than with no room correction. The voicings (EQ) provided by Lyngdorf are a quick and easy way to alter sound on less than ideal recordings.

Pros: Detailed Good bass response Lively

Cons: Mids can seem recessed Exposes poor quality recordings Slightly bright

The Monitor Audio Silver 100 7G Bookshelf Speakers are truly a masterpiece in both audio quality and design. From the moment I set them up, I was blown away by the crispness of the full range of audio they produce when driven by a Marantz Stereo 70s. Whether it's the deep, rich lows, the clear and detailed mids, or the sparkling highs, these speakers handle it all with incredible precision. Every note is delivered with such clarity that it feels like I'm hearing my favorite tracks for the first time. Beyond their stunning sound performance, the design of these speakers is simply pleasing to the eye. The build quality is top-notch, and they look fantastic in my living room. The combination of excellent craftsmanship and elegant aesthetics makes them a perfect addition to any space. If you're looking for speakers that not only sound amazing but also elevate the look of your room, the Silver 100 7G is the way to go. Highly recommend!

I wanted to downsize a bit. From a 5.1 system to a 2.1 These 100 7G's were the last piece and I was quite hesitant as I was replacing some older B&W floor standers. I listened to quite a few bookshelf speakers and was meh. These were a roll of the dice, but since Crutchfield has a great return policy I went ahead and ordered a pair. It's taken a few hours of room and EQ tuning after running these for about 30 hrs to break in. I use a Velodyne SPL1200R sub which has its own EQ setup too. Along with the Dirac EQ in the NAD preamp/streamer I was able to zero in on a good sweet spot. So, I'm hard to please with audio sound. I am very happy. They sound bigger than they are. Very articulate sound, not boomy at all, smooth top end. Better top end than the B&W's were. Midrange is very detailed. These do not sound like bookshelves. Maybe I have a lucky room but I'm happy and recommend you try these. I listen to Classic Rock, Acoustical anything, Jazz, Blues, Classical, and Metal. Like any good speaker, you feed it crap, you get crap back. These look fantastically well made. Heavy for size. Walnut looks great. Wife loves them too. They're not cheap, at least not to me, but you do get what you pay for. I run these with 120 wpc ATI power amp. Plenty of gas

Pros: Sound is excellent

Cons: Not cheap

Crystal Clear With A Smooth Finish

Jerry from Fresno, TX on 2/22/2024

Very satisfied with my purchase. Spoke to Daria at Crutchfield and she was very helpful. First, I was attempting to mix speaker of different ohms. I did not know what that meant or the difference between 6 or 8ohms so she explained it to me. She explained that my 80-watt amp was adequate and that if I ran 4 speakers of 8ohms it would increase the output of my amp to 120 watts. I have a Cambridge Audio AX81 with a pair of Bower Wilkins 606S2 speakers. I like sound from front and back so I added some Klipsch RP600 floor speaker to see if that would give me more of what I was looking for. Daria asked so what was wrong with what I had and what was I looking for? I told her the Klipsch seemed to bright and strong in my small space and that I was looking for perfection. She recommended the Monitor Audio speakers. Daria hit the nail on the head. The sound is warm and creamy, crisp and clean, crystal clear with a smooth finish. I paired them with the BW 606 S2s and though they sound like perfection together I find myself only playing the Monitor Audios. Though I have had them only a couple of days I am quite sure that they will only get better with time. Thank you, Daria, and thank you Crutchfield. My order showed up 1day early and I was so glad because I was excited waiting on them to arrive. Great speakers, Great Service, Great Music

Pros: Great sound

Cons: None at all

Cons: Not really a con, but they're bigger than anticipated for bookshelf speakers. Cannot fault them though.

I wanted bookshelfs for my 14ft x 16ft bedroom. My listening space is to a side allowing for space for a king bed. I impulsively ordered these seeing a deal and then started worrying that they are too big/powerful for my available space. Maybe I spent too much! I even called Crutchfield to cancel the order and they said to initiate RMA upon receipt since it was already shipped. Once the units arrived it seemed crazy foolish to return back without a listening test. I hooked these up to a Sonos amp which I had for a different setup. I tested it with and without an SVS Micro sub and that was it. All thoughts of returning vanished. The depth, soundstage and midrange clarity made me smile involuntarily. At present, I have them hooked up to a Schiit Vidar 2 with the Wiim Pro streamer feeding via a MiniDSP Flex with Dirac Live. It is fantastic.

Exceptional Look and Sound

At first I was a little worried I may have made a mistake when applying these to a Audiolab 8300A integrated amp. I gave them time to break in and played a variety of different music and have become very satisfied with combination of these speakers with the amp over time. Neutral presentation of sound and nothing seems to be emphasized compared to my reference point of Klipsch The Fives that was in the room prior. My impression if one needs more bass, add a sub (SVS 1000SB Pro also implemented via speaker level input). I have also tried the sub off for a few days and didn't miss any noticeable bass extension in music with these. Forgot the sub was off at times. More presence when the sub is turned back on and can dial to taste via volume and crossover. I read in a previous review about the speakers being too large, and that was my initial impression on the Sinus SF30 speaker stands (Great for the Fives in size and height). Pangea DS400 24" stands are great match for size of speaker, height, and look. Over time they don't appear large any longer. The speakers have a premium build with respect to the drivers and wood veneer finish. Binding posts are of a good quality for look and feel. Pictures don't do much justice with respect to textures seen in person.

Pros: 1.) Good sound scale for a stand mount speaker 2.) Excellent wood finish

Cons: 1.) May be a little too large for some stands if replacing speakers 2.) Required quite a bit of adjusting to dial in center image

This Monitor Audio Silver 100 7G is a great speaker. I put them on my 36" stands and found that it the tweeter was a bit to brittle because they were too high up. I now am using these speakers for my right and left center channel on the home theater system on 10" stands and they work just fabulous. Wonderful for clarity on center channel information.

Big in size and sound

Gordon from Bloomfield Hills, MI on 7/11/2022

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee review (What's this?)

These are very fine speakers. In the end I returned them because they were bigger and heavier than anticipated, and they didn't "disappear" or offer quite the precision of my Revel M105s. The Monitors have a particularly big, rich, warm sound, but as I listened closely I found the midrange just a shade muddy. Though they have plenty of bass, they did benefit from a subwoofer (Monitor's Radius 380, which I kept to go with the Revels). Mine were "scratch and dent" but looked pristine. They are uncommonly good-looking (in walnut, sans grilles). Love the gold binding posts but not how they stick out past the back of the cabinet.

Pros: Balance, depth, bass, high end

Cons: Very slight dulness/vagueness of sound; size and weight

São Paulo

(first of all sorry for my bad english) I recently bought a pair of SILVER 100 7G and I confess that at first I felt a certain regret, they were not (at least for me) very easy to position or with a relaxed hearing, the definition and presence of frequencies between 2k and 5k are very prominent, this shocked me a bit, as I come from an update of a pair of DM602 S3 where this region is a little excavated, after a lot of research and watching several videos, I could see that there is even a need to move them at least 30 centimeters away from the wall, but contrary to what the factory indicates, it is necessary to leave them almost parallel to this same wall, forming a crossing point around 2 meters behind the listener's head, so that the sound panorama happens in a wide, clear and open way (it's a different positioning from how it is normally done for Bookshelf), after these attempts and almost returning the speakers to the seller, yes the MA SILVER 100 7G was born, it got big and gave life to the music, another detail (it could even be a placebo effect, or it's just my ears getting used to it) is that it took at least 100 hours for the speakers to break and so they started to emit a quieter and sweeter sound. After 2 months I'm starting to like it and I'm at peace with them, even though to my ears 7G still isn't totally friendly with all kinds of music!

Pros: a lot of definition firm and clear at high volume subtle at low and moderate volumes good panorama after correct positioning excellent performance in the bass region speakers with modern designer, clean and very beautiful

Cons: a little aggressive in the midrange region treble can be harsh at high volume (+ 95dbs) requires correct positioning could be friendlier with less fussy recordings

The Silver 100s Sound Fantastic!

James J. from Raleigh, NC on 2/26/2022

Verified employee review (What's this?)

I finally took the plunge and replaced my Dahlquist M-905s after 30 some years. I did not think the Silver 100s would be able to match the soundstage of the DQs because of the much smaller enclosure. Wow! I am surprised at the range of these speakers. I have been breaking them in for a couple of months now, experimented with the stand height and placement. I filled the stands to eliminate the resonance and placed the speakers on isolation pads. My room is 12 feet deep and 14 feet wide with a gaping hole on one side. These speakers have no problem overcoming that room configuration. They are sitting 22 inches from the floor and slightly toed in. They are set about 2.5 feet from the back wall. Every little tweak improved the sound. (Confirmed with a spectrum analyzer). After isolating with the pads, I removed the plugs and man, the Silver 100s really opened up and sound fantastic! They have great deep end and mid-range. The detail in the upper end is very impressive and smooth. I keep on wanting to listen to the sweet sound. I have them matched along with an SVS 3000 Micro Subwoofer and the bass between them is seamless. I can listen to them in direct mode with no processing and no sub and they can still hold their own against any comparable tower speaker. They are audiophile quality! If you do not want big tower speakers and you want true HiFi, get the Silver 100s!

Pros: Can be Bi-Amped or Bi-Wired Very Detailed High End Full Mid-Range and Base

Cons: None

I listen primarily to small classical ensembles of the Baroque period in a 9x12 study, so I needed speakers that sound full and natural when played at a lower volume. The MA Silver 100 7G's are just wonderful for my needs. I drive them with a Hi-Res Marantz and Qobuz Hi-Res as my digital source; with these speakers you can tell the difference between high sampling rates and just medium. Perfect clear trebles and the 8" speakers have all the bass you need for chamber music. Love them.
