Amazing bass in a compact speaker. Setup was quick and easy and its addition to the rest of our KEF suite was flawless. When our initial purchase proved unable to connect to our Yamaha receiver, Crutchfield immediately sent out a replacement unit.

HiFi Perfection Acheived! Six stars
Charles from Candler, NC on 3/26/2025
I have paired my recently purchased KEF KC62 from Crutchfield with a Yamaha R-N2000A receiver and KEF R3 Meta speakers. In 60 years of lusting over HiFi components, some being high-end, this setup may be the closest to achieving sound perfection. it certainly competes with components costing twice as much. with the KC62 serving as the proverbial icing on the cake. The universal reviews are right on. there is no other compact sub like it on the planet. and probably superior to many that are larger and more expensive. The kicker for purchasing from Crutchfield is the free KEF KW1 wireless adapter which lends to an infinite number of placement options! Thanks, Crutchfield!
Pros: Everything!
Cons: None!

The Lord of Subwoofers!
George from LAREDO, TX on 2/15/2025
Absolutely the best of the best of all the subwoofers you can ever buy, and I will tell you why. This subwoofer has a bass that pleases your ears and what I mean by that is that you can hear the bass without shaking your room, however this bad boy does sounds as if a car has its bass booming out in the streets. Crank it up more and it will sound boomy without distortion, but if you listen to it at low volumes, it's smooth to satisfy your ears. I have this subwoofer for a PC desk setup (gaming room setup) for an Audiophile experience. I also have it as a primary subwoofer and my secondary subwoofer is the Cambridge Audio MINX X301. Together music sounds phenomenal. I had to put my KEF KC62 at phase 180 and the MINX at 0 degrees. The only thing that I suggest to KEF is that the control module would have been better placed on top rather than the side for better control. Now let me explain just a bit why this subwoofer booms louder and smoother than most subs. In the 90s there used to be a subwoofer for cars that I purchased called " Bazooka." The Bazooka subwoofer bass sounded similar because to the KEF because it had a circular tunnel making the bass pump out in longer waves. However, the KEF is much better due to its dual driver pushing each other and in a compact size. This little subwoofer is a kicker! It's a beast! It's out of this world! If you are building your Computer/Mac room setup, I suggest you go for this one. Audiophile experience Approved!

Thunder
Karl from Rogers, AR on 12/10/2024
OK, my thoughts go two ways here, Way 1: I wanted my home system to sound as good as the CX30s Bose system, and it has three subs. Way 2: I was looking for a sub that was somewhat smaller than a hope chest. Well this little beast meets or exceeds both of those specs. If you want to check your speakers bass response, try playing "Rain" by Breakage & David Rodigan. Holy moley. I'm talking thunder. Sent my cat to her safe spot in the closet cause she hates thunderstorms (she got used to it and came back later). This diminutive package can really crank out the bass. Supposedly we can't hear much below 20hz, but you sure can feel it.

Perfect in small room 2-channel system

Perfect integration with my 2 channel stereo system (Musical Fidelity A3 integrated amp acting as preamp through bi-amped MF X-A50s into B&W CM4s in a 10x10 room). Easy setup and versatile options with crossover, LPF, and volume.
Pros: - perfect size for small room; sonically and aesthetically. - crossover and LPF settings allow precise control to match speakers and room. - line outputs for power amps provide the versatility I am looking for.
Cons: None noted with my setup.

Loving these Little Gems
Ryan from Ridgecrest, CA on 8/23/2024
These little guys are sublime! I have two paired with my LS 60 speakers from KEF. I would recommend these to anybody who wants an exceptional music - listening experience. I have them set up in my back office. I would go with something larger if you intend to play cinematic content. I love the finish, but the finish loves my fingerprints even more. You'll want to purchase a specialized cleaner for these guys. Be careful when removing these from their packaging as they are heavy for their size.

Garry from Ewing, NJ on 7/24/2024
It is everything it's advertised to be. I think it is amazing. And its size makes it perfect and inconspicuous in my small-ish living room. It's small... but the power and the sound it produces is just weird. Also, a perfect match to my KEF R3 Meta's. They are great by themselves but add this to the bottom and my system is everything I'd hoped for.
Pros: None so far
Cons: The little devil is pricey.

Stay away from this subwoofer + KEF overall
Christian from PAWLET, VT on 3/4/2024
This subwoofer worked great when I first received it, but it stopped working all of a sudden a while later, and then the frustrations began. Dealing with KEF support was a long and arduous task. The KEF tech was barely helpful, all he could recommend was to ship the sub back to them after several hours. So if you have any issues with any of their products get ready to pay $$$ to ship large and heavy items back and forth with them. Tried contacting Crutchfield directly as well to see if they could help out but that went nowhere, the initial support person I dealt with at Crutchfield was nice enough, but even she couldn't get a hold of someone at KEF to look into it for me. Overall, KEF doesn't offer any kind of support the way you would expect a high-end hi-fi company to offer. Remember. They're not interested in making sure you're satisfied with your purchase/product. If something goes wrong with one of their products after you've paid them then you're pretty much on your own and will incur all fees, even though it's their faulty product. Crutchfield also comes up short here on their end with support. All in all, it took several hundreds of dollars, hours upon hours of time, and over a month to get it all sorted out. I was a big fan of the KEF design and sound but after such a frustrating, time-consuming and expensive experience I will not be buying any more of their products - and thinking twice about buying them from an online retailer like Crutchfield.
Pros: Compact, includes a wireless adapter
Cons: Post-purchase support from KEF is atrocious. Crutchfield support was sub-standard as well.

Smooth little sub
Gordon from Gaithersburg, MD on 9/26/2023
My KC62 has a simple but subtle job--to replace a large, ancient subwoofer that fills in the bottom response of a pair of tower Cantons. The KEF has proven easy to place in my office/studio (as wireless--see photo) to get the desired smooth, mild, low-end boost. Subwoofer technology has come far in 25 years! I love the little rascal.
Pros: Smooth response, VERY compact, easy to adjust.
Cons: MINOR: Attaching the wireless receiver can be somewhat fussy--jiggle the unit to assure pin contact before screwing it in place. (This suggested by Crutchfield technician in 10 min. real-time fix via phone. Good service, guys.)

Versatile Subwoofer w/Great Sound and Impressive Control
Rodell from Charlottesville, VA on 8/4/2023
Small footprint and great sound, the KEF KC62 makes for an excellent subwoofer solution for folks that don't want to compromise audio quality for space considerations. Heavier than it looks, this subwoofer packs some serious punch, with a level of clarity and precision I've come to expect from KEF. This sub is ideal for listeners with 2 channel high end systems looking to fill out the bottom end of their soundstage without sacrificing space or performance. With rounded edges and a sleek finish, the KEF KC62 will blend in with most modern decor. While the KC62 has enough oomph to complement a TV room set up, I feel like the bass driver really shined when paired with the 2ch setup I have in my office. Tight, punchy bass that gave my music presence without becoming washed out or "boom-y", even in a smaller room. Plenty of connection options and a built in DSP to allow for fine tuning to even the most discerning of ears. Great sound from a great sub!

Stephen from PHILADELPHIA, PA on 5/24/2023
Perfect subwoofer to pair with the LS50 Wireless II, bringing in the lowest of the low frequencies. This is not your standard clunky black cube sitting off on the side. The KC 62 compact design is beautiful with elegant curves and matte finish. But it also sounds great. The bass is energetic and punchy while also balanced. And it can easily be finetuned to one's room and listening preferences (in my case using the EQ feature in the KEF Connect app, which is very good).

Allen from Potomac, MD on 4/27/2023
Excellent easy to setup compact sub. Used with a pair of Dynaudio Heritage Specials and an NAD M33. KC62 used in LFE mode, M33 handles the crossover. Set to 55 Hz (roughly the Dynaudio roll off frequency), level set by KC62 to "just noticeable." Fills in the deep bass beautifully, evenly, responsively with no overhang. Well worth the price.
Pros: Excellent easy to set up compact sub. Fine performer. Utterly inconspicuous.
Cons: Cones are exposed, might be trouble with pets or kids. Instructions are exceedingly terse, especially for first timers.

The KEF KC62 sub is incredible
Robert from VAIL, AZ on 12/22/2022
The KEF KC62 sub is incredible. I have been in the audio game for over 30 years and get excited when I come across such fantastic technology. I used this sub for 1.5 months with KEF LS50 Meta speakers in a 2.1 setup. The LS50 Metas sound good without a subwoofer. They are next level when matted with a good subwoofer and set up correctly. The subwoofer that I compared the KC62 with is a Velodyne Optimum-8 subwoofer. The KC62 is remarkably better in sound and aesthetics. However, Velodyne has a remote that controls the subwoofer. I knew the KC62 didn't provide an app or a remote. I did not realize how much I would miss that option to control the sub from a listening spot. The convenience is a big deal for me. I'm hoping the next iteration of KEF KC subs will provide an app or a remote for us folks that like that option.
Pros: Looks great Sounds phenomenal when setup properly Excellent lows out of such a small box
Cons: No balanced input Proprietary wireless option No app or remote to control the subwoofer

Perfect
Douglas from West Palm Beach, FL on 12/18/2022
I set up a stereo pair of KC 62's with my LS50 Wireless II's. Also using the wireless adapters for both subs. For me selecting the the kc62 setting in my KEF Connect app with subs in corners just behind my speakers lets them seamlessly blend in. One kc 62 works well but for some music the stereo pair really makes a difference for me. I would estimate most would be satisfied with one sub but I prefer the low frequencies separated into left and right channels. I am feeding my setup from a Lumin T2 using aux inputs on the LS50 W2's. The Lumin was purchased in prep for an upgrade in my main listening area and relocation of my LS50/KC62 to another room. The Lumin does bring out more music details, separation and soundstage but at significant more cost.
Pros: Easy integration Great match fo LS50 capability and SPL
Cons: Cost

A Step Up!
Gerald J. from Bethesda, MD on 12/2/2022
Very nice subwoofer. I am replacing the Cambridge Minx X201 which is a very solid and capable subwoofer. However, I recently upgraded to the KEF LS 50 Metas and wanted the KC62 sub too upgrade the low end as well. After a week of tuning and listening, I can share that I have not been disappointed. I agree will the various points brought out from many of the extemporary reviews and do not need to reiterate them. I will add one point that hasn't been mentioned. And that is, that while KC62 may referred as a micro sub but because of its diminutive size and smaller drivers, it is not "micro" in its performance. It is a significant enhancement over the Minx in terms of output, and overall performance, and should not be compared to other micro subs but to other subs in general. Check out the specs on this puppy, better yet, buy it, and hear for yourself.

Small Sub with Big Sound.
Brian from Brooklyn, CT on 11/7/2022
I am completely happy with this sub. A listening studio suggested it, I did the buying research and was satisfied this would be perfect for my needs. I paired this with Klipsch McLaren Fives and it is perfect for these speakers. Tight bass that shakes my desk. Low rumbles from organ music as if you were in a Music Hall listening to it. Perfect size as this is for my PC and needed to fit under a desk. I know this would also be great for a bigger area, but for me, this was perfect for my application. I sat with a smile on my face as I ran through a gamut of music and apps that have sound. I would recommend this for anyone needing musically accurate bass in a small space.

You wouldn't think this little subwoofer would make a difference in your home stereo system. It does. I have several stereo systems running in my home. This subwoofer is very good despite its small size. It gives just enough bass to the music without being intrusive.
Pros: Strong subwoofer system.
Cons: Don't try to stop the sound by putting your hand on one of the output speakers. They are strong and they will not hold back on putting out bass output.

Fantastic pairing with KEF LS50 Meta
Joseph from Los Angeles, CA on 4/7/2022
This is a high quality subwoofer that will not disappoint especially if you pair it with KEF LS50 Meta. First, this subwoofer is small. You could barely fit a basketball into its curved square frame. Second, the build quality, like KEF LS50 Meta, is top notch. You are not getting some flimsy subwoofer in a thin wooden frame. Obviously, this subwoofer tremendously improves the bass. What was surprising to me, however, was how much it improved the soundstage of KEF LS50 Meta. Paired with KEF LS50 Meta (and probably with other bookshelf speakers as well), the soundstage was noticeably more expansive. I felt like I was listening to MUCH bigger floorstanding speaker system. The biggest magic trick of this subwoofer is that it can improve both the bass and soundstage without being noticeable. When configured correctly (decibel and frequency level), this subwoofer can "disappear" while providing a noticeable boost as if they are coming out of the two bookshelf speakers. Other reviewers have noted that that the this subwoofer cannot go much below 20hz at decibels above 85 or higher. But a subwoofer at 85 decibels is QUITE high. Based on measurements, this subwoofer should still give you 30hz frequency response at 100 decibels and that is almost always good enough for almost anybody. In conclusion, if you need a bass that will blast people's hat off, then look elsewhere. But this subwoofer would be more than sufficient for any reasonable music listen
Pros: 1)Small and very well built 2)Pairs extremely well with KEF LS50 Meta 3)It not only improves the bass, but it also tremendously improves the soundstage of bookshelf speakers. 4)Sounds "invisible" as if it is not there (but you can hear its effects).
Cons: 1)It takes good amount of trials to configure the volume and frequency controls. 2)You would need to make some effort to place the subwoofer at an optimal location. 3)It does require some break-in period of at least 200 hours.

Not for low-level listning - goes into standby
Mike from Hurst, TX on 12/1/2021
Astounding sound and design but the trigger voltage is way too high. With an NAD M10 (with known low 1.1v sub output), the KC62 shuts down below 30% and won't power up until 40-50%. This is a home office desktop system with LS50 Metas and I listen at low levels, mostly 15-25% playing Classic Rock, Blues, jazz. This issue is reported on various forums and I tried all the workarounds such as running in "manual" mode, using full range preamp outs (which defeats the M1';s Dirac bass management) , "Y" cables, etc. I wish I found this information before ordering; none of the glowing reviews mention this issue. I confirmed with KEF and mine is a later unit after they applied firmware changes for this issue and they confirmed the low-level standby is expected. I've used 6 other different subs with the M10 using the sub outs without auto-sense issues. Returned. For desktop use, low volume standby is basically a fail for me. If KEF creates a V2 with a 12v trigger or an off-on-auto switch I may reconsider. Until then, I consider this behavior defective.
Pros: Super well built. Great sound in a small room. Great size for a desktop application.
Cons: Goes into standby at lower volumes. Won't power up at low volumes. Needs 12v trigger input or on/off/auto. Needs full phase control.

Pros: Size, range, punch for size.
Cons: Cost.

The little Giant

Great small sub with a strong and crisp sound
Pros: Big sound sub with a stronger and more powerful sound than bigger subs.
Cons: Price is a bit high for a sub, but you do get what you pay for because this little guy packs a big punch.

A great addition
Crutchfield customer from Oak Park, IL on 9/28/2021
I purchased the KEF KC62 subwoofer to add bass to my recently purchased KEF LS50 Meta speakers. After a bit of experimentation, with placement, volume and crossover it seamlessly blended with the LS50's. Don't let the small form factor fool you the KC62 sub is quick and adds a snappy punch to the bottom end. No boominess here. At this price point I don't believe you can find a better sounding speaker combo. Highly recommended.

Recommend them unconditionally get two if you can...
Sander from PITTSBURGH, PA on 9/14/2021
Great sub, super easy to intergrate and set up with the Kef App and the LS50 Wireless II. Small compact grade power, if you have the room do not hesitate to get the larger KF92, it will integrate just as easy. We are also running one set of LS50 W II's with twin 12b's in stereo, we probably will try a single KF92 next. KEF hit it out of the park with the LS50/KC62 package. Set up is easy, and you can high pass the LS50's so that cleans up the sound further with the app. Do take some time experimenting with the location, as with an sub that impacts the sound signifigantly depending on the room

Endgame subwoofer for music
Crutchfield customer from Sylmar, CA on 5/8/2021
This subwoofer is absolutely incredible. The seamless integration with my floor standing speakers was mind blowing. I've tried subwoofers from SVS and Rythmik audio, but none of them have been able to integrate as well as the KC62. These are so compact that I was able to fit 2 in my system with outstanding results. Expensive, but worth every penny. A definite upgrade to any system, highly recommended.

KEF KC62
Christian from Bend, OR on 5/7/2021
This replaced a 20 year old Sony sub, and the difference in quality and output is unbelievable. I have this paired with KEF LS50 passive speakers and will order a second KC62 when back in stock. Before ordering the sub, I tried the KEF R3, which I hoped would be an upgrade to the LS50s. (R3 are excellent speakers as well and do have more bass than the LS50, but for me, the top end of the LS50 is difficult to beat and the R3 was a bit too warm and not as detailed.) After that experiment, I ordered the KC62 and couldn't be happier. This little sub looks and sounds great, and with Crutchfield's excellent service and return policy, I highly recommend you give it a try!

KEF LS50 Completer
Crutchfield customer from Chevy Chase, MD on 5/1/2021
Excellent. I have it set up so that the KEF LS50 Wireless II speakers control the woofer, and it extends them to full range, certainly below frequencies I can actually hear. You can feel them. I am not a big basshead or anything, but some contemporary classical in particular just isn't quite all there with bass only down to 45 hz. Fits on a bookshelf in the corner, has a setting for that, and really completes the system. If you like really good sound and don't like fussing around with components, this works out really well. I had a cheap Klipsch sub-woofer, and it just didn't define the sound well at all.
Pros: Compact Full range Crisp sound
Cons: Pirice

Really good sound. Very smooth. Kind of difficult to set up due to tiny connections, however the effort was worth it. Using with KEF LS50s and this sub compliments these speakers very well.
Pros: great sound
Cons: difficult to connect to amp

100% lives up to the hype!
Crutchfield customer from San Tan Valley, AZ on 4/22/2021
How the KC62 can dig so deep, be so composed and extraordinarily musical (with absolutely silent noise floor), yet somehow as small as a football!?!? My brain still doesn't want to believe it. I'm telling you, KEF ain't playing around. And ROCK SOLID - I turned my system up to around 85db and could balance a nickel on top - this thing is incredibly well balanced. Now I want a second one for a stereo pair setup! ...oh, and I also picked up the wireless kit - works flawlessly.
Pros: ALL
Cons: None. Zero. Nada.

This subwoofer is about 1/5 the size of the subwoofer it replaced, but can go lower and with more bass definition. It is a true joy to use and works extremely well with the KEF LS50 metas. I strongly recommend it.
Pros: Sound and appearance.
Cons: None

I am really blown away by how this pairs with the LS2W to make a really incredible sounding system. I intially questioned whether I needed the subwoofer but I did notice the lack of bass on some tracks and decided to try it out based on the really great reviews on youtube for this unit. I figured with the Crutchfield return policy, I had nothing to lose and I knew these were hard to get so I put my order in right away and about a month later they shipped. Now I can't imagine not having this to complete the sound stage, it almost feels like this is a necessity. I know it's pricey but the design and quality really make it a perfect pairing to the LSW2s and all together still comes in at $4k before tax, which is to me definitely worth the money. I was surprised to get the KC62 before the K2S stands which I ordered 3 months ago with still no ship date....

Compared to Definitive Technology 2000
Charley from APTOS, CA on 4/3/2021
This is a very good product, but it has an intended use that I feel is application specific. I use this as a desktop subwoofer, coupled with LS50's. I replaced a Definitive Technology 2000 (DT) with this. The difference is stark. The KC62 offers musically perfect bass, whereas the Definitive offers what feels to be more traditional bass with more boom. The KC62 compliments the LS50's perfectly. I will note this, the lower bass registers do not seem audible but they are certainly felt. It's definitely a different type of bass than standard subwoofers. It's a bass that you feel rather than hear, and for that I feel it's really impressive. It simply fills in the gaps but doesn't serve as something that's going to rumble your room that it's in. The DT definitely offers more room shaking base, but without question the KC62 provides audiophile bass in a small room setting when compared to my last tests of the DT and my Klipsch 12" subwoofer. This really is a premium product and you'll be shocked with how much it weighs--like a brick of gold. It's an impressive consumer electronic beyond most. I did not give it 5 stars, only because I don't think it will serve all purposes, but specific purposes it will. For me it's a 5 star in my tiny office room, a 4 star if in a bigger room. I have a HEGEL 120 with LS50's and this sub. The combo is audio perfection.
Pros: Great control nobs. Quality build. Vibration Free. Premium bass quality. Audiophile bass.
Cons: Expensive. Application specific. No enough bass to compliment anything much larger than 8" floor standing speakers. Not recommended for home theater, namely because range of bass vibrato may not be adequate for scene-specific bass range is required.
