Small size, big sound
Richard from Sterling, VA on 6/4/2025
Fantastic clarity for the price point, and will easily fill a room with sound. Very neutral sound, and a surprisingly big soundstage for the size of these units. Connectivity options are great, and my girlfriend loves that there are no additional components required to get great sound quality. The KEF Connect app could use some updates as choosing music through it can sometimes be a little laggy, and I'd love to see Qobuz connect added to these speakers in the future.
Pros: Amazing clarity No additional components needed for great sound Stylish appearance Easy set up, with lots of options for fine tuning
Cons: No Qobuz connect App has some lag when selecting songs

Many features not working out of the box
Kelly from Knoxville, TN on 4/21/2025
So far I am very disappointed with the KEF LS50 Wireless II speakers so far. 1.) Certain TV channels have no vocals, only music; 2. Optical input not working at all. Tried all iterations of TV setup, outputs, and cables to no avail. Note, there is no "use TV as center channel" option on my TV. Presently working with KEF support. 3.) there is only one volume level at any time for all inputs so switching between sources I either get little out or blasted. Had none of these problems with my Sonos Arc soundbar. 4.) the hardwire inter speaker cable is not long enough to route through KEF speaker stands.

Fussy but ultimately great powered speakers
Scott from Rochester, MN on 12/11/2024
Fussy setup but excellent sounding speakers. You must use KEF connect to properly set these up using the equalizer functions. Otherwise the sound is overly bright, flat, and lacking dynamic bass range. No phono stage, so you'll probably have to get a phono preamp if you are a turntable user.
Pros: Great sound stage. Great detail and dynamic bass when supported by the recording.
Cons: Fussy setup. Support is unresponsive. No phono stage. Initial connection issues. Requires the app for proper setup. Apple Music streaming through Bluetooth only.

The LS50 II speakers knock it out of the park!
James D from Pleasanton, CA on 12/4/2024
These speakers are awesome! I don't have much to add to what previous reviewers have said about the stellar sound, other than to say the KEF software (both in the Primary speaker and the KEF app on my iPhone) has worked perfectly for me. I guess KEF has heard the many complaints and improved the software. I connected the speakers with the included Ethernet cable, and the Primary speaker is connected to my WiFi range extender with an Ethernet cable. I'm streaming music from the iTunes library on my iPhone (about 100 GB), and the streaming works perfectly. I'm also using a McIntosh MB25 (bought at the same time as the LS50's) to stream music from my legacy Connisseur turntable and Technics CD player to the KEF's. Works great! I have a KEF KC62 subwoofer due for delivery tomorrow. If it performs as well as reviewers and critics have claimed, I will be a very happy camper.

I did't think they could be any better...
William from LYONS, NJ on 10/31/2024
I did't think the KEF LS50 could be any better. As a long time listener of original 50th Anniversary KEF LS50's. Had them originally connected to NAD amp then upgraded to ARCAM. They were (are still) my favorite passive speakers for critical listening. Enter KEF LS50 Wireless II; I could not be happier. The internal Bi-Amping brings more to the room then the ARCAM ever did with the original LS50. Have been breaking in for about 12-hours, enjoying a wide range of music styles and volumes. The KEF LS50 Wireless II are able to handle everything with ease. I have a single SVS SB-2000 Pro connected, providing the additional LF my room needs to balance out the overall great sound of the KEF LS50 Wireless II. Bonus; my son is very happy to inherit the original LS50's and ARCAM amplifier. WIN / WIN!
Pros: Well packaged for safe transport/shipping Ease of installation and networking UPnP works great with Mac/FireStream AirPlay allows multi-room listening Carbon Black is Beautiful
Cons: The Interconnect cable needs to be longer; 4M would be great.

Stephen from Wayland, MA on 7/4/2024
Gorgeous sound in our difficult family room into kitchen scenario. Whether we're streaming music or watching TV with the HDMI ARC hooked up, the KEFs fill the space with clear, full sound. Bass is deep but not overwhelming, vocals crisply rendered and the whole range of musical instruments are distinct and accurate. The KEFs were easy to set up. Cost of the speakers and a couple of hiccups with the volume control through the TV have been the only negatives. Having iterated through a couple of less expensive but well- regarded sets, the step up to the KEFs was well worth it.

I am having fun with these LS50s
Giovanni from Murrieta, CA on 1/11/2024
These LS50s are a pleasant sounding set of bookshelf speakers with crisp vocals and solid deep bass. No fatigue here! My living room is about 50'x18' and these speakers fills it up nicely. I love it's overall design, it's modern, sophisticated and minimalist looks elevates the entire look of the living room. It brings me joy every time I see them. When I want to chill, I just fire up my Apple Music on my iPhone and enjoy its Lossless stream via Airplay. No need for a hifi integrated amp since they come with built in amps. Really happy that I don't need to run a cable to connect them together. I connected my old 8" Velodyne subwoofer and the soundstage just went up to another level. The KEF app is easy to use and you can customize speaker settings easily. You have to select your subwoofer on the app to activate your sub. I'm saving up to get the KEF KC62 someday to get that consistent look in my living room. Very happy with this purchase especially with the discounted price. Shipping was fast! I was installing these plug & play beauties in just a couple of days after I ordered them.
Pros: Wireless connectivity between speakers, crisp vocals, vibrant mids and solid bass (even without a subwoofer), sexy looks, eArc hdmi, easy to use app with music streaming services included, plug & play, AirPlay!
Cons: Might not be future proof when it comes to software and support.

Exellent speakers when subwoofer added
John from WAILUKU, HI on 12/25/2023
After a few days of listening to these powered speakers I could not help but to be amazed at their sound quality, ease of use, and ample bass response. That said, it became obvious that they could benefit from a sub woofer, not only to provide deep thundering base, but to also take some of the load off the 5 1/4 inch driver. These speakers can truly play very, very loud but the bass response cannot keep up at high volume levels. Tests done by others show that the low bass response decreases at high volume levels due to the on board electronic amplifier protection circuits. This makes sense as a 5 1/4" driver will never pump out low distortion bass at high listening levels, and even within its capabilities the driver will produce a bit of distortion at such high levels. Hence, the solution is simply to add a subwoofer with a cross over at 80-100 Hertz. This allows for the 5 1/4 " driver to better handle loud signals with low distortion over a range far more suitable for such a size driver. If one looks at the larger KEF floor mount speaker systems, you will find that the midrange and tweeter drivers are the same or even smaller in size than the KEF LS50 Wireless 2, yet are rated to deliver higher volume sound. Again, this is simply due to the fact that the lowest frequencies are handled by a separate woofer. I

Top shelf. Probably the last speaker I'll ever buy (I'm old, man lol). Ticks all the boxes for me: precise detail, surreal imaging, mids to die for, built-in amplification, instrument separation, and all the connections on the back that I'll ever need. I recently added KEF's KC62 subwoofer to the rig and although the LS50s on their own are no slouch regarding bass output the KC62 truly took it to the next level. For $3,500 (including the subwoofer) you'd be hard-pressed to put together a complete system to match the LS50 Wireless II/KC 62 subwoofer combo. Two enthusiastic thumbs up!

Tom from Portola Valley, CA on 11/23/2023
I consider these speakers to be a fabulous value as an entry into high fidelity sound. For the money you get two fine speakers, four separate amplifiers totaling 760 watts that have been expertly matched to drive them (two 100w amps for the tweeters and two 280w amps for the larger drivers), a flexible input preamp, hi-def DAC, networking and a controller that runs it all, and all this packaged so unobtrusively that all you are left to look at are two nicely styled speakers. As a young man in the 1970s I paid $400 for a Marantz 2270 receiver. That felt like a small fortune considering how much I was making at the time, and I was still left to buy speakers and a turntable. Comparing 1970s dollars to a dollar today (about 1:6), these speakers cost about what that Marantz did alone. Deal. As for detractions, I would like to see companies like KEF and Bose invest more in their efforts towards software and firmware. It's a big ask for companies with their history to suddenly become stellar at this form of tech compared with an upstart like Sonos that understood the importance of it from the beginning and made the necessary investments. But both KEF and Bose lag in this regard, and as an end user you will feel some pain over this. I did, and do. The software and firmware are not as polished as the hardware. But unlike the hardware, software and firmware are not frozen in time, so you can hope for something better to be pushed out in the future in support of these fine speake
Pros: Hi-fi sound, terrific industrial design and a decent value.
Cons: Software and firmware can at times lead to frustration and unexpected hiccups.

Phil from Cincinnati OH on 10/12/2023
I'll start off with my positives. The speakers are beautiful and the build quality seems to be top notch! I really wanted to love these. Now to the negatives from my point of view. The sound is just ok. At low levels they don't even sound as good as my 2 Amazon echo studios i have paired with the crappy echo sub I have in my garage. That setup was under $500. Now once you crank the volume level above 50 they do come alive but the sound is very forward. I have moved these speakers about 50 times around my bedroom and still the same results. They do image well but the sound stage is not as wide as i was hoping for with the unique coaxial design. They do sound pretty good for TV listening. Now to the app. It's not horrible, but it's very dependent on many variables. If you have a lot of wireless devices on the same network prepare for some major frustrations. Also, they have to be connected with the interconnect cable which is about 10 ft to short if your going to use them with the stands. The sound quality and reliability of using them wireless has been terrible for me. I'm going to give them another few weeks but I'm almost 99% sure they will be going back. They just are not what stands and a set of speakers costing this much should sound like IMO. Might be giving the klipsh sevens a shot next with a bluesound node or WIIM pro. I might even try some emotiva b2+ with a power node. If you're not an audio file you will probably like them a lot though.

Outstanding powered speakers
Stephen from PHILADELPHIA, PA on 5/24/2023
Outstanding audiophile-grade powered speakers. Open sound stage, with incredible vocal and instrumental presence and detail across the spectrum. (I paired them with the KC 62 subwoofer to complete the lowest frequencies, although their bass alone is quite good.) High power internal amps are a necessity in this type of rigid powered speaker. But they render the sound open and airy at the top and articulate and punchy in the mid/low ranges. The app works really well, and both normal and expert EQ modes make it easy to tune the speakers to your room. Downsides? The remote is substandard, but has its uses (for example, adjusting volume without needing your phone). If you switch often between sources for comparison listening, there is a bunch of clicking on the phone or tablet. Otherwise not. And one annoyance: every once in a while, the app can't find wifi and speakers even though both are on and ready. Unplugging the primary speaker fixes it. It could be my router dropping a signal -- or a hiccup in the speaker. Yes, there's a worry that internal chips in powered speakers will become obsolescent. And you really do need a tablet or phone plus the app for a successful experience. (If you have family or friends using the speakers while you're away, they can download the app and sign on with your credentials.) All it all, to me it seems very much worth it for the marvelous sound. And as a side bonus, none of the clutter of separates.
Pros: Incredible audiophile sound App EQ finetuning No separates clutter
Cons: Risk of chip / software obsolescence Occasional signal drop

KEF LS50 Wireless II
Lawrence Univ from OSHKOSH, WI on 5/9/2023
We hooked up subwoofers to sub outputs on the KEF and heard a high squeal from each one (at ~5kHz). We changed patch cables. Same thing. The NAD amp, purchased years back from Crutchfield and used to power all kinds of speakers just fine for years, is relaying a piercing sound from the KEFs, which are doubtless expecting a sub with a built-in filter, not an amp hooked up to 12" subwoofers in boxes, with no crossover/filter. Both KEFs transmit the high pitch through their sub outputs. This defect in the KEFs appears to be exposed only by our kind of setup, because no standard powered sub produces any sound at 5kHz; the filter cuts off all frequencies far sooner. However, given this clear defect in the electronic design (what's the point of providing a low- and high-pass filter in the software if a 5kHz beam sneaks through to unfiltered subs?), we returned these speakers.

I compared these to the JBL 4305P powered speakers and overall I like the JBL's better. The only thing I do not like about these speakers is their price, even though they are worth every penny of it. As several people have pointed out, they cause you to hear things you had not heard before in music you have heard many times. And what a relief, no more confusion of wires running all over. Great build quality, design and sound that simplifies access to online music through KEF Connect app. Ample volume and robust dynamics in my small living room (16'x 12'). Plug and play ease of initial set up. May eventually want a subwoofer to get that last octave of music but very full-range sound.
Pros: *clean, transparent sound *broad, detailed imaging *full-range sound w/o a subwoofer *suitable for all genres of music (though not the best for hard rock) *attractive, contemporary design that works even in my old house
Cons: * Not inexpensive * Unknown how adaptable these speakers will be to future hifi standards and KEF upgrades

Considering the simplicity of the system... if you are only listening to online music like performance Tidal or Spotify, the sound quality is going to be tough to beat. I am 71 and at an age where I no longer want to go through the trouble of listening to albums on truly esoteric equipment. So no, it doesn't replace a carefully constructed $100,000.00 system. But for $2,800.00 and the pure ease of use it offers... you won't do better. Finally, you need to give the Kef LS50 Wireless II a good 20 hours to break in. You won't know what you have if you don't let them loosen up and release their magic.

I use these speakers as a replacement for my Sonos Arc and for me, the dialog from my TV has never been more clear. Welcome to the 21st century!
Vytenis from Cornville, AZ on 9/15/2022
This is the only readily available 21st century stereo product. The whole audio market has been unchanged since 1950. It is totally wacky that in 2022 people are still buying speakers with banana plugs and procuring amplifiers to drive them. And getting AV preamps to drive those, etc. Surely the 21st century concept is a music system, as a system. KEF got this right. What is so amazing is that there is so little competition. There are a few high quality soundbars (Naim, B&O). These are basically single-box units with pretend stereo. But the market for actual stereo sound is a different market. And it is very surprising that there are so few alternatives. KEF's LSX is a similar philosophy, but they are tiny "personal" speakers, not for your living room. And of course they have the big brother LS60 wireless. And there are other alternatives, if you're willing to spend $7000 - $15,000, or more. Devialet, B&O, Burchardt, SA Legend, etc. The LS50 Wireless II is rather on the pricey side, for what it is. (And, I may still have to buy a subwoofer, not sure yet). But there are no viable alternatives in this market segment. What might be alternatives in Europe (Electrocompaniet, Micromega) do not come to the US. Also, the technology is not all 21st century. It seems hard to believe, but I have not been able to complete the on-line product registration without contacting KEF technical support. A mysterious message that 3 fields are missing.
Pros: Has both Wifi and ethernet inputs. Hooray! And supports Tidal Connect Classy looking appearance
Cons: Price (remember, you need the stands). The supplied interconnect cable is too short to reach the other speaker with reasonable speaker positioning. Fortunately, you can replace with store-bought ethernet cable.

Good, but not overly impressed...
Anthony from Fort Payne, AL on 9/14/2022
I've owned these speakers for about six months. The sound quality is good and it should be at this price point. More critical listeners than I discuss the audio quality in their reviews. I'll preface this review with the fact that these speakers are sitting in my home gym, not in a dedicated listening space with room acoustics and a perfect listening position. They are connected to a Sunfire subwoofer as well. What I do NOT like: The remote control feels super cheap for a pair of speakers at this price point. It feels flimsy and lacks functionality like changing sources. Once I move beyond about 15-20 ft it's hit or miss if it works. The app used for setup isn't very user friendly. Setup can be frustrating and should be a much more intuitive process in my opinion. The most frustrating thing about these speakers is that they drop the signal while listening over wifi about 3-5 times per hour. The music stops for a few seconds and then starts again. I have 1 gig internet speed and the modem/router sits in the room directly above the speakers no more that 18 ft away. No other speaker in my home has this issue. I purchased a pair of Kanto TUK speakers for my office when I purchased these. When paired with a good sub, those are a better value in my opinion. The KEF speakers sound better to me, but only slightly. It doesn't justify the price gap in my opinion. I do not believe the TUK speakers can be connected via wifi however. What I DO like
Pros: Likes: The ability to connect to and control them thru Spotify. They fill my gym space really well especially when paired with a good sub. They definitely do look cool. Good connection options - including hdmi, ethernet port, wifi, BT, optical, etc for connecting them in almost any situation or application.

Extreme clarity, small sound
Ricky from Boulder, CO on 6/1/2022
Purchased the KEF LS50 Wireless II to demo the speakers as near-field units in anticipation of moving to a smaller listening room, potentially replacing my current setup of roughly the same cost (Marantz PM7000N and Wharfedale Evo 4.3). I had high hopes for these speakers and outlined an A/B testing regime to determine the strengths and weakness of the speakers and the suitability to my needs. Unfortunately, after a couple listening sessions, the KEF LS50 Wireless II were exposed as having extreme clarity, yet the sound was tiny and holistically much less enjoyable than my current setup. I tried to compare the speakers a few more times over the week, but always found myself turning the KEFs off immediately to switch to the floorstanding speakers. I'm sure a subwoofer would help, but with the added cost, I'm positive there are much better options out there for a better holistic sound. I think these speakers are great for a casual listener with a smaller listening room. I would not recommend to anybody who considers themself a discerning listener. Will be returning for a full refund. Thanks Crutchfield.
Pros: - App control provides setup and control options, as well as minor EQ settings - Extreme clarity across frequency band - Good, controlled bass for size
Cons: - App control is required to use the speakers - Tiny, diminutive sound - Unappealing ascetic

I rarely type reviews because I typically don't get very surprised after doing a lot of research prior to making any large purchases. I spent many weeks looking up data on these speakers and trying to justify the price tag. To be fair, I've only started dipping my toes in the "audiophile" category in the last couple of years and this was way more money than I wanted to spend on speakers for our bedroom. All the research and data kept bringing me back to these speakers so I decided to take the plunge. Boy oh boy, am I glad I did! It feels like I am listening to music for the first time. Sound wonderful, software not so much.
James from Steamboat Spr, CO on 3/16/2022
These sound really great, but the interface could be more much more intutive. Set up was cumbersome, and I have also not successfully sent my WAV file music recordings to the speakers as an album or play list. The KEF app just lists them in sort of alphabetical order and plays them in that order, but with a diverse musical library, that isn't very practical.
Pros: Small package, big sound, no wires. Very crisp high notes.
Cons: Software. Tricky getting WAV files to play through the speakers, and then can't control or select order of playback.

Absolutely Amazing
Jerry from East Providence on 2/24/2022
Absolutely amazing. I am an audiophile junkie with a dedicated listening room, a complete analog tube amplified system, 1,500 Lps. and a high end CD player. I came to the conclusion that I also needed to stream music and radio but could not stand the poor sound quality I was encountering. A Stereophile colleague recommended these Kef LS50 Wireless ii speakers which I placed in my living room. I am blown away. When paired with the Tidal App. the sound reproduction is incredible. They handle every music venue from Rap to Opera. They are very stylish, easy to install and convenient to use. The sound reproduction is just crazy. While not analog it is still wonderful and a pleasure to listen too. They have remarkable clarity, separation of instrumentation, warmth, a large soundstage, plenty of base and just fill up my living room with music. The sales person, Sam, was very helpful figuring out how to hook up my older TV and odd subwoofer. Tech support was fantastic helping me install them and explaining how to use the app. Everything about my experience with Crutchfield was A+. Given the incompetent world we are now living it, it was just great to work with a company that answers the phone and get's it right.
Pros: Great soundstage, clarity, resolution, warmth, depth, easy to use, .....
Cons: Have not found one yet.

Worth the Money
Jack from Nashville, TN on 2/13/2022
Love these speakers. They are well balanced with a really great soundstage. Crisp and clear with really good bass. I added a subwoofer because I'm a bass head, but I always add a sub. If you are looking to simplify your setup with no receiver, this more than does the job. Definitely a major investment, but worth it, in my view. The KEF app is finicky so call support if needed. I wouldn't make that a decision point, but KEF is you are listening, you need to invest in that app.

Do you really want wireless?
Ralph from Annandale, VA on 2/10/2022
For slightly less money you can get a pair of FOCAL Chora 806 speakers & a NAD C700 integrated amp. I got both the KEFs and the Focals and listened to both, mostly with classical music and jazz. The KEFs seem slightly brighter, but that's a subjective opinion. They are both quite good and pretty comparable, with my own preference for the Focals. BUT ... IMO one needs to think carefully about the convenience of wireless speakers. You can place them anywhere without wires, but that's it. The price for this convenience is that (a) you are paying a premium for the technology of integrating the amp into the speaker, which apparently is not a trivial task, (b) you are wholly dependent on the KEF software to connect and (c) you don't have independent control or conectivity of an amplifier. The KEF software is not flawless. I wound myself in a knot not knowing whether it was the KEF software or my Verizon 5G WIFI connection that was not connecting. If wireless is essential for you, then, for the money, you will probably be happy with the KEFs. [ You do use a cable to connect the 2 speakers together.]
Pros: It's wireless.
Cons: It's wireless.

All In One Solution
Crutchfield customer from Corte Madera, CA on 11/13/2021
A convenient all in one solution that sounds fantastic. Needed a smaller audiophile level system for a smaller living space and this unit fits the bill to a tee. My separates audiophile system consists of Magico S1 speakers for comparison. I viewed and read reviews of comparable systems such as the Buchardt and the B&Ws. Auditioned the KEF LS50s vs the Metas, R3s and B&Ws and loved the clarity of the midrange, the wide soundstage, level of detail, and nonfatiguing sound. Took the leap, brought them home and am very pleased with the results. Very easy to set up on Wifi - via Ethernet. Using primarily Roon and Tidal. The level of convenience allows me to relax and just enjoy the music. Purchased the C62 sub to fill out the bottom end.

KEF LS50 Wireless II
Sander from PITTSBURGH, PA on 9/14/2021
Got these for myself and my father afterward as well. Hands down one of the best 360 degree comprehensive solution to Hifi. We run one set with one KC62 sub and the other with dual 12b's in stereo. The speakers are awesome you can't read about in the other reviews. But the key thing for us is the app works flawless for easy set up, high and low pass filers, driving the subs. this is plug and play. The only thing you need to experiment is speaker and sub location . Make sure you can hardwire the two speakers together so that you can get the full benefit of the high res and MQA streaming if you're using the embedded title app. For sound quality if this is 9 of 10, then it's 12 out of 10 for ease of use, and 12 out of 10 for value. You'll need to spend double the money and take up twice the space to get something that sounds 2-5% better. If possible try to hardwire them directly to you router/modem. The wifi connection is very reliable but wire is even better/faster. I recommend the IsoAccoustic GIAI III's for the stands and order 2x 25 pounds of let should fill each stand, it'll will anchor them better.
Pros: A comprehensive solution that does 10 thing perfectly 100% of the time vs 100 things well 50% of the time.
Cons: I would recommend KC62 of KF92 the subwoofer, good cables and power source if you can spend the extra cash.

Happy so far
Crutchfield customer from Livonia, NY on 8/19/2021
I did a ton of research before springing for the KEF LS50 wireless 2. I considered all of the options that would work for our downsized lifestyle and this wireless speaker system checked all of the boxes. I consider myself a Midfi Hifi kind of guy who has in the past 50 years of owning audio gear has always gone for the best sound for the buck. I sold almost all my gear (kept the speaker stands and Sub) and wanted something that was wireless, updatable, played well with my phone, my Mac and all of my other stuff. I also wanted gear that I didn't need a 12 yr.old to explain to me. I bought the open box units and unpacked them to find them flawless, the box that held the accessories was crinkled. No big deal. It took a slight learning curve (because I'm not a 12 yr old) to get them to connect to the network through the KEF connect app, but once I did, I was very impressed by how good they sounded. I used the app to connect to some of the radio stations that KEF offers and I like the variety. Right now I am using Spotify and my Mac to stream files but will most likely go to a higher quality music format to match the capabilities of this system. Cannot wait until they voice after a week or so to really hear what they are capable of. I do not have any other experience with powered speakers, but I know what I like and I like these. So far...really good. I might use these instead of my Top of the line Sony Soundbar for TV and movies and pair them with my Yamaha Sub. Happy so far!
Pros: Excellent sound, Reasonable interface, fairly easy to set up, Overall quality. Sharp looking but my daughter said they were ugly?
Cons: Pricey and there are alternatives out there but non seem to be as universally well regarded by critics and users as these.

Simply a steal
Edgar from Wausau on 7/21/2021
These is by a significant spread the best and most musical "stereo in a box" in the market. Its the music system I use in our second home. My home setup is a 50k reference level ensemble of Mcintosh and B&W. The fact that the LS50W2 can play a a not bad facsimile of a system that costs almost 20 times as much is astounding. BTW, don't pass up on the matching stands, fill them with lead shot. It does wonders for the lower register clarity.
Pros: Fabulous sound, extraordinary connectivity. They bat way above their price point. Great app!
Cons: NONE!

Albert from WALNUT CREEK, CA on 7/7/2021
it works really good for all in a box wireless solution. Good sound stage and image. I don't need a subwoofer for my bedroom music listening. Setup was easy, 30 seconds and it is up and running. I connect to the speakers via Apple play 2. Loss connections here and there but I think it is due to my crowded WiFi network. The left speaker lost connection a few times and I needed to reboot the main speaker. All is all us it a very good sounding speakers for hi fi listening.
Pros: All in one box wireless solution Audiophile speakers for smaller room Easy to setup EQ is very effective from the KEF app

Thomas from Portland, OR on 6/10/2021
The man-cave / listening room had also become my office, and needing space I had the bright idea that I could replace my separates, tower speakers, audiophile speaker cables, etc., etc. with a one-box solution. I already had the media server, media services, a robust network and no vinyl, having committed to hi-rez digital long ago. I tried the iFi Aurora, McIntosh RS200, and Naim Muso 2. All were... fine (I've reviewed each of these separately). I may have kept one of them if I hadn't been able to A-B with my "big rig". I'd given those three options an impossible task, and they were not up to it. Giving up on the one-boxes, I got a set of these. OMG. They don't quite have that very bottom octave, but can deliver the goods with jazz, rock, pop, and a lot of classical. Imaging is fantastic. Great midrange clarity, an easy to listen to top end, and textured, muscular bass down to about 45Hz (after which it drops off a cliff). That bottom octave was easily solved with a sub - but these definitely don't need one unless those deepest notes from a pipe organ or a computer (electronica) are important. They're absolutely spectacular for jazz (much of my listening), but also don't get confused or muddy with big orchestral or electronica pieces. Now, with stands & sub, I'll argue the LS50W2s sound better than my carefully assembled audiophile rig with spendy separates, interconnects, speaker cables and towers. At 1/3 the cost and 1/2 the footprint. Wow.
Pros: Sound is clear, fun and non-fatiguing. Good bass down to 45Hz or so. Imaging Style (these really do look terrific in person) KEF app is best of breed (though not excellent), with handy sub integration Chromecast (which is bit perfect to 96/24 - perfect for me) Size / Footprint Flexibility - "Desk" and "Wall" DSP modes Ethernet or WiFi Wireless (except for power cables) up to 96/24 Natively plays Spotify, Tidal, Qobuz, Deezer, and Amazon Music. UPnP Enough power
Cons: Bluetooth is only aac, not aptX or LDAC. Trouble natively playing DSD files.

Crutchfield customer from Elgin, IL on 6/1/2021
I like the look and sound of these speakers. I bought this sort of on impulse, so I am not the best person to listen to when discussing the value. If you are considering these for your setup, find some nice speaker stands, and work on placement. My neighbors hate me, so loudness is not an issue, though my apartment isn't the best metric for that. I literally have a note posted on my door for an email I created just to address noise complaints, and also requests. Anyways, I am not picky enough to know what is good and bad with these speakers, so I default to my gut. Overall 8.5/10.
Pros: Looks. Physical and Mobile Interface are decent. Good I/O. Plug and play with many popular music streaming services*.
Cons: Better options in this price category for wireless audio solitions. Setup process is simple, but not thorough enough for my liking, and if you don't have a smartphone this may present some issues. Wireless delay, it is noticeable if using Bluetooth to stream. I like rotary encoders and potentiometers for adjusting EQ and volume, so the touch interface is lacking for me. *Issues with setting up Rune, was promised a code from the manufacturer, but I haven't received it yet.

Great speakers. A bit pricy, but for the power, that's what happens. I have them in a large room, so they needed a subwoofer to fill out the bottom, but the KEF app made it easy to pair them and get the cross-over just right. They are clean at low and high volumes. I love how 'powerful' they sound at low volumes.
Pros: great sound
Cons: heavy! Needs a sub.

Just buy them!
Andy from Los Altos Hills, CA on 5/21/2021
These speakers sound really amazing! Wow! Open and clean and clear and great imaging. Solid bass. Not harsh at all. I absolutely love the fact that the amplifiers are built in! So clean and simple. I would never go back to separate amp and all that gear and messy dusty wires etc. These really sound spectacular and totally good enough sound for me and they look cool and modern. I bought white power cables and white ethernet cable to match the white speakers and stands I'm using. The downside is that the software is very buggy. For example, when using with Tidal (on iPhone 12 pro), you often cannot start the song playing after you connect the speakers. You press the play button and nothing happens. You have to change the song to something different and then go back to the one you want and then it still only works about half the time. Also the speakers do not always respond to the remote control. Sometimes you press a button and nothing happens. Sometimes you cant stop the music playing even if you close the Tidal app on your phone. Another issue is that occasionally the speakers just suddenly stop playing all together. Despite the software issues, I would absolutely recommend these speakers. Personally, I'm able to live with the buggy software. It's a small price to pay for the sound quality, convenience, and aesthetics of these incredible speakers. Hoping KEF resolves the software issues in future releases (to be fair, could also be Tidal app...
Pros: Sound quality, Cool aesthetics
Cons: Buggy software

Fun Little Speaker System
Crutchfield customer from Folsom, CA on 4/12/2021
This is just an initial impression. I'm still in the process of breaking in these LS50w-2s and have mostly used them in wireless mode, (without the cable between the 2 speakers). The only source I have used so far is Tidal (which was the intention). So far it's been mostly trouble free, with the occasional drops, and brief delays in connection to Tidal, for no obvious reasons. But, the sound has been very good to amazing on some Tidal Masters tracks, even with a wireless connection only. Vocals are accurate and clear, imaging is excellent on the right material, and sound stage is pretty wide and deep. I'm not using a sub with them, yet. Bass is a little light on some music, but pretty good for the speaker size. For reference, my main system is Paradigm Persona 3F and dual Hsu ULS Mk2, driven by Parasound A21 and P7, using Oppo UDP205, BlueSound Vault2, and a Music Hall TT as sources. I'm hoping to try more sources and with the cable in between to see if I can get even better sound. Will report back, if not too busy listening to music:)

Outstanding sound quality. Average control app.
peter from PITTSBURGH, PA on 3/3/2021
The sound of the LS50Wireless II is of outstanding quality. They provide clear, precise, and smooth mids/highs and surprisingly good bass. I'm not used to such high resolution speakers and am enjoying them greatly. They expose the flaws of some recordings, but take the bad with the great sound overall. The Kef connect app is adequate, but is still a work in progress. The look of the app screens is great but functionality is incomplete. Streaming Amazon HD or Tidal through the app has excellent sound quality and attractive look and feel, but the functionality isn't great. Search is very rudimentary and control of playback is minimal. I have been using Tidal Connect rather than the app, so it's not a big issue.

I was in total awe of the sound quality I was hearing via Tidal Connect Masters songs via WiFi via the KEF LS50 Wireless II Speakers. All the streaming, all the digital I/O, all the watts, and all the smiles. Get your own USB to 3.5mm DAC to mate up with these KEFs and you are set. The cherry on top has to be the dual sub outs with digital bass management. A perfect entry system to HiFi or a perfect second system. In fact, and given the size, these are the best PC speakers ever made. Get the KEF LS50 Wireless II speakers while you save up for that end game audio system, then relocate the KEFs to another location such as a bedroom TV. Add dual powered subs for movies, music could go with or without subs depending on your tastes. Use the Meta baffle to solve the maze in WestWorld.
Pros: Tidal, sound, value, size, power, and looks.
Cons: I haven't found a way to stream WiFi audio to speakers while streaming WiFi video to a TV at the same time. No USB in. And sadly, they also don't make ham sandwiches.

Amazing - lived up to the hype
Pete from Mesa, AZ on 2/19/2021
So I've had these a few weeks now. I've read some of the other reviews complaining about bugs... I will say this. I unboxed them and immediately ran the firmware update. It stalled on the last step... I called KEF support and they answered right away and simply advised I unplug both speakers, wait 15 minutes and retry. 2nd attempted worked fine... since then these things things have been bug free and headache free and are working as you'd expect them to. Note... if you hook up to a TV via HDMI you may have to go into your TVs advanced audio settings and change the sound output format to PCM. Mine was set to Dolby which the speakers do not support.... So if you plug these into your TV and don't hear anything this is likely why. Ok onto sound quality...The detail is simply remarkable. It sounds like they are in the room with you. You can hear artists lips smack in the vocals. The vocals feel 3 dimensional, like they are sitting in front of the speakers. The bass is satisfying for most but I still will probably pair with a REL sub. I just smile every time I turn them on and play old tracks just to hear what they sound like through these. Bottom line is you get what you pay for. Yes they are expensive but the convienence of an all in one package, small size and a huge, detailed sound stage makes them worth every penny and a bargain if you were going to buy the passive METAs, amp and DAC. I love these so much I haven't once lamented what I paid for them.
Pros: App worked as expected and you can make minor audio adjustments in it. I can't say enough about the sound quality. No wifi or connection issues of any kind. Big sound from small package. No need for amps or DAC, all in one solution. Love the look of the titanium gray.
Cons: Bass is quality but doesn't dig deep. It's a smaller speaker so. O surprise there. Depending on preference you may want a sub. Note these have a sub output on each speaker so you could run stereo subs if you're into that.

All-in-one Entertainment System
Jack from Boise, ID on 1/22/2021
Best speaker system for the money if you're looking for next level music reproduction that sounds completely natural - as long as the source is top quality. My turntable has never sounded better, so audio purists looking for affordable top shelf audio should still give it a shot. Tried several streaming sources, including MQA through Tidal Connect and very happy with the result, although low quality recordings receive no help. I tried the speakers in "wireless" mode with only power connections and it suffered from drop outs both to my router and between speakers, so I recommend going wired. They also double as home theater speakers through the HDMI eARC connection but are missing some important features, such as dynamic compression/night mode and can't access the best audio without a digital decoder (PCM only). Software is still incomplete so I'm hoping some of my wish list (night mode, Atmos 2-channel, room correction, stable wireless) get addressed in some way. Compared to Sonos ARC and Sennheiser Ambeo, the music is so incredibly good that I've accepted the imperfections. Did modify attractive, much less expensive stands to take advantage of the new threaded mounts and happy with results. I had the original LS50s powered by Parasound A21 and I'd say these are equally articulate but with better separation and extension. Sound has gone from slightly bright of neutral to warm of neutral, which is a very welcome change. Great down to mid-bass but looking at subs with room DSP.
Pros: Clear highs Great streamer HDMI eARC Realistic voice and instrumentation Punchy mid-bass Great value Features increasing over time
Cons: App/features still under development Lacking home theater features (night mode, voice amplification) Lowest bass absent Limited to PCM audio (Dolby and DTS tracks higher quality) so home theater can sound poor compared to much worse speakers with Dolby Atmos Wireless mode works but be prepared for occasional signal dropout

Ruined by the setup and interface
Crutchfield customer from Denver, CO on 1/13/2021
The speakers are beautiful. And hefty. But boy if they aren't a pain in the butt to setup and use. The KEF app is buggy. After 3 days of combing the forums, configuring ports on the wifi router, disabling this and that on the firewall, testing cords, installing firmware, and screaming at nonsensical error messages in the KEF app, we finally gave up and returned the speakers. When they'd work, they sounded great, but after a half-dozen factory resets we knew the tech wasn't ready for prime time. Mind you, I'm a technology professional with an aptitude and tolerance for a complex setup. This product is not ready for the average consumer. I blame the KEF app, not the speaker.
Pros: beautiful. excellent sound
Cons: buggy interface. difficult setup. frustrating KEF app.

Am I an audiophile? I don't have the burning urge to upgrade my equipment from where I'm at now, so it makes me believe perhaps not. But I've spent a considerable amount on hi-fi equipment this year, so perhaps maybe. I know i like to hear music reproduced in the manner the artist that recorded it imagined it would be heard. I think these speakers come really close to that. I've sat in rooms with systems that cost more than my house and you could "feel" the amount of money spent on them. you could hide these away in a room and get that same feeling minus the fancy listening room, luxury car in driveway and liquor in fine glassware. I'm saying these are working man's audiophile speakers. I had the chance to get a great deal on a Klipsch sub that I have playing with these, but I can turn it off and enjoy these just the same, I turn the sub on for the neighbors ;-)

A nightmare with customer support to get the app connected to my speakers. The app is really slow even when not randomly disconnecting from the speakers. I don't really know why there is an app. I don't need one for other wireless speakers. The sound is great, when it works, and they can fill up a decent sized room with sound. Also, they do look pretty cool. The optional stands are junk. I received two sets. In both pairs one could be assembled, the other couldn't because of poor manufacturing resulting in misaligned bolt holes in the base. After two returns, KEF basically told me oh well, too bad. They refused to issue another replacement pair. Now one of the speakers sit on top of a dog crate and the other shares an end table with a lamp. Thanks KEF
Pros: Great sound
Cons: Terrible software/customer service

Amazing imaging, clear, yet smooth sound, great package
Jon from Torrance, CA on 12/4/2020
I really enjoyed the original Wireless with pristine /clear sound, with excellent width of imaging and bass that I extended through an SVS SB3000 subwoofer through the KEF app, using their digital crossover. It took some time to tame the high frequencies, less toe-in doing the job. I received my KEF LS50 Wireless ii's 11 days ago and they have exceeded my good but realistic expectations. 1) The app has not caused me any problems yet....crossing my fingers but the original app was so unstable 2) The high frequencies are sooo smooth that the speaker sounds different, and better. Gone is the edge. The speakers are still clear but with a different smoothness than the sharp clarity of the original. I like clear highs but dislike the edge, so this is quite a relief. The smoothness of frequency, on-axis, off-axis is so good. 3) The extra power just gives the speakers more life and less compression, just sounds more like real instruments and voices 4) The imaging of the original was great but these are even better! There is more depth and instead of the images being as pointed, they seem to be more round with space. Even listening off-axis, the imaging is definitely better. 5) Being a Tidal user, I like the MQA compatibility. These speakers are great to listen to and if you like bass, I can't recommend high enough the SVS SB3000, I cross them over at 75hz. Highest recommendation for rooms of a moderate size.
Pros: * Imaging depth and width * App is stable (original was not) and very useful for the powered subwoofer, tone control and moderate room positioning control *Highs are smooth and clear, original wireless would bite and feel sharp at times * The extra power allows the sound to breathe and feel more real * MQA capability * Good bass and loudness for a speaker its size * Good value considering the amp and digital crossovers and connectivity * Looks beautiful (I have white with go
Cons: * Good for small to medium sized room but may not be enough for large rooms * Pricey (though comparable speakers and electronics would be more) * May need good stands

Amazing speakers, great customer support
Taylor from San Diego, CA on 12/2/2020
I don't normally write reviews for the stuff I buy. I was hesitant about purchasing these at first considering the price and the apparent technical issues that plagued the first generation of these speakers (LS50 Wireless). However, after setting these up and listening to them fill my living room with amazing sounds I can safely say they were worth the price. Everything sounds fantastic through them. I want to mention that I did have some trouble connecting these to my WiFi with my iPhone 12 and the current version of the KEF Connect app (at this time of writing: version 1.3.1). Apparently there is a bug with iOS 14.2 that interferes with the onboarding process, so you have to set up airplay manually via the iOS Settings (check out the KEF Connect description in the App Store). I also needed to update the speakers to firmware version 1.2 as well in order for the app to communicate properly with them. Prior to figuring that out, Bluetooth and all of the input ports on the back worked fine. After updating the speakers, everything has been working smoothly and as expected. All that being said, I think the setup issues I went through are temporary and will be fixed in the near future as bugs are sorted out. These speakers only came out a month ago. KEF customer/tech support gets a gold star from me. I sent them an email after hours describing my issue and they sent me an email the next day and gave me a call to see if I was still dealing with the connectivity

Legendary Sound Quality with Well-Designed Wireless Implementation
Crutchfield customer from Torrance, CA on 11/16/2020
These speakers live up to their reputation for superb sound quality. If you're in the market for speakers in this price range, you've undoubtedly done your research and you know these use the same driver technology as the outstanding KEF LS50 Metas. So I will use focus on the wireless features and characteristics. The first generation LS50 Wireless had a clumsy pair of smartphone apps and wireless connectivity issues (according to reviews; I didn't own them). These second generation wireless speakers have turned that around. Setup and connections went seamlessly, and the iPhone app is a joy to use. I have four sets of audio devices that connect through apps (BluOS, Devialet, Elan), and the KEF Connect app finds its devices the most quickly, and is the easiest to navigate. The app offers a rich array of audio customization settings, including sound profiling for room placement compensation. The same app provides access to an extensive list of streaming cloud music, radio and podcast sources, as well as local music on your network. So theoretically, it could serve as your main music hub. Overall, KEF has done an excellent job with the software implementation, and I'd give it five stars.
Pros: Outstanding sound quality. Allows custom sound profiling for room acoustics and placement compensation. Excellent wireless implementation. Fast, stable wireless connectivity. Supports Apple AirPlay 2. Well-designed smartphone app.
Cons: None.
