About the Kicker 46L7T102

Bob Bihlmayer

Bigger bass for your smaller space

Excellent. Superb. Great sounding. Unbelievable. These are a few of the words our customers have used to describe the performance of Kicker's Solo-Baric® subwoofers. With more cone area than a conventional sub, these subs give you bass you can really feel. Now Kicker has combined this innovative concept with the shallow-mount design of their CompRT Series subs to create the L7T Series subs — the ultimate low-profile solution for big bass.

Made to be played

The 46L7T102 10" sub features the signature SoloKon™ square polypropylene cone, creating a rigid surface that won't flex and cause distortion at high sound levels. The Santoprene rubber surround stands up to the car environment and keeps the cone on track for maximum clarity and minimal distortion, while the sturdy steel frame resists vibration and provides a solid foundation. This sub handles up to 500 watts RMS, so be sure your amp can give it all the power it needs. The dual 2-ohm voice coils let you wire your speaker for either 1- or 4-ohm total impedance, giving you more wiring options when setting up your system.

Kit that will fit

You'll have more installation options than ever for this super sub. Whether you prefer a sealed or a ported enclosure, the 46L7T102 is designed to excel so you can pick the enclosure that'll give you the response you prefer. And with only 3-3/4" of mounting depth required, this pizza-sized deep-dish of boom settles neatly into your vehicle's tight corners. If you thought it was impossible to fit this kind of massive bass into your vehicle, think again.

Important Note: If you are wiring this DVC sub for extremely low impedance, make sure that your amp is compatible. You can damage or destroy your amp by exceeding recommended minimum impedance.

Product Research

Features

Square Design: By making the cone square, Kicker is giving you the most possible cone area (Sd) for a given size baffle, 16% to 20% more area than a conventional round subwoofer. More cone area means the cone moves more air, resulting in louder, deeper bass.

Dual Voice Coils: For increased system flexibility, the woofer has two 2Ω voice coils. When the voice coils are wired in parallel, the woofer presents a 1Ω load; when wired in series, the woofer presents a 4Ω load.

Cone Material: The square SoloKon design is a unique one-piece construction, using injection molded polypropylene that moves as a lightweight piston, for improved control. A rear cone brace integrates into the cone with a continuous contact perimeter weld, which improves strength and resistance to deformation under pressure.

Surround: The tough, flexible Santoprene rubber surround has a long-throw, positive-roll design, which controls extreme cone excursion and is tear-resistant. The corners of the surround are ribbed to ensure linear cone motion. The surround is stitched to the reinforced cone edge to improve durability.

Terminals: The spring post terminals will accept pin connectors, single banana plugs (but not dual), and bare wire up to 8 gauge.

Break-in Period: Due to the complex nature of Kicker subwoofers, they require a break-in period in order to produce optimum bass response. The high-performance suspension system makes the speakers very stiff out-of-the-box. Approximately two weeks of daily playing will allow the suspension to break-in and reach its optimum equilibrium. A broken-in subwoofer will exhibit stronger bass performance, smoother response, and greater low-bass extension.

Sealed Enclosure: A sealed enclosure design gives the smoothest response with increased energy at the lowest frequencies (between 25 and 30 Hz).

  • Minimum Volume: 0.4 ft³
  • Maximum Volume: 1.0 ft³

Vented Enclosure: A vented enclosure design increases efficiency relative to sealed enclosures.

  • Minimum Volume: 1.25 ft³ with a 2" x 10½" x 20" slot port
  • Maximum Volume: 1.75 ft³ with a 2½" x 10½" x 20" slot port

Cutout: The woofer will not mount in a standard enclosure with a round cutout. Instead, the woofer must be mounted in an enclosure with a 9.325" x 9.325" square opening.

Customer Q&A

8 questions already asked

Q
What is the ideal amp for this sub? I was looking at getting a 46CXA8001.
adam  Dec 31, 2023
1 answer
A
The 46CXA8001 is too powerful for the Kicker 46L7T102, Adam. The Kicker 46L7T102 can handle a maximum of 500-watts rms and can be wired to either a 1-ohm or 4-ohm load when using a single subwoofer. The Rockford Fosgate Punch P500X1bd in the link below is 1-ohm stable and puts out exactly 500-watts RMS and would be an excellent match! https://www.crutchfield.com/p_575P500X1B/Rockford-Fosgate-Punch-P500X1bd.html

Q
Would this sub, fit the Q custom sub box fo 2000 2006 Tahoe?
carlton  Jun 17, 2023
1 answer
A
If you are referring to the Q-Customs factory-fit sub enclosure in the link below for your Tahoe Carlton, the Kicker 46L7102 will not fit. The Q-Customs box can only accept a round type 1 10" subwoofer, meaning a speaker that is designed to work well in a small, sealed enclosure. The Alpine RS-W10D4 in the second link below would be a great choice! https://www.crutchfield.com/p_044C1GMA11/Q-Customs-Factory-fit-Subwoofer-Enclosures.html https://www.crutchfield.com/p_500RSW10D4/Alpine-RS-W10D4.html

Q
Can this be installed in the factory location in my kia seltos lx 2023?
randall  Apr 02, 2023
1 answer
A
It cannot. The factory subwoofer is only approximately 6" in diameter.
zachary  Apr 02, 2023 (Staff)
Q
What is the distance needed in front of the box for clearance how far does the speaker stick out off the baffle?
robert  Mar 24, 2023
1 answer
A
The subwoofer will sit 1.1" off of the front of the enclosure. The woofer cone has a maximum excursion of 9.2mm. This means that we should have a clearance in front of the subwoofer over 1.46" in order for it to operate properly.
zachary  Mar 24, 2023 (Staff)
Q
What is the total outside edge to edge measurement of these subs?
caleb  May 22, 2021
1 answer
A
When we measured it, we found that to be 10.71" x 10.71"

Q
What amp is recommended for 2 l7t 10s 2ohm?
ernesto  Mar 03, 2020
1 answer
A
Thanks for your question. For information on selecting the best amp for your subs I would recommend reaching out to an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. They will be able to help determine the differences between the amp models and help you make the best choice for your system.

tacoma  Sep 10, 2019
