I was told by a Crutchfield sales rep that this would work with the CDA-117 headunit that I was ordering, but while installing it I found that it does not. The CDA-117 only has a USB dongle, dedicated dongle for the Bluetooth accessory, and an Ai-Net port. Crutchfield was very good about correcting this mix-up though and set me up with an exchange immediately. The correct aux input for the CDA-117 should be KCE-121B, which uses the Ai-Net port.

I listen to iPods, scanners and HAM radios regularly in my car. I bought the car used with the Alpine CDE-9872 installed and found this solution while looking for the user guide. It simply plugged into a 6 inch pig tail on the back of the radio and I enabled the port following the instructions I found for the radio. Works great. Just plug it into the headphone jack of either of my portable radios, an iPod, son's DVD player, or whatever and the sound is through the cars speakers. I can mute it quickly for a phone call or adjust with the volume with the radio's controls. Great gizmo for the price.
