OK - as far as installation, no one beats Crutchfield - great directions, fast deliver, they rock.
Speakers - i bought because i trust the Alpine brand, but i was disappointed, if only from a perspective of how these speakers are presented for use. I bought them (along with a set of Kickers) to replace the stock speakers in my 2003 Silverado, set up with a Kenwood Excelon KDC-395. They were listed as replacements for the rear door 4x6 speakers. After the install they sound very clean, and very bright - but TOO BRIGHT. no matter how i adjusted the head unit, i could not get any low end from the speakers. So i decided i really needed 6x9's, even if i have to cut the door panel. I felt a little bad returning them, until i re-installed the stock speakers to hold me over, and they stock speakers have more low end - sounded BETTER - than these. I think they are good speakers, but better suited for a front door setup, not the rear where you need some bottom end. (I put the same head unit in my daughters car with 6x9's in the back and there is PLENTY of bottom end - even without an amp and subs).
so that's my comments - might work well in some setup, but not as the rear speakers. Get out your metal cutter and put those 6x9's in.

I installed this myself in the dash of my 2001 s-10 Zr2. Everything said they won't fit in stock spots without modifications. I plugged them in to my factory wiring with the wiring adapter that was included n with no modifications they fit tightly . They sound awesome along with the alpine cda-105 headunit, and the alpine SPS-600C Type-S 6-3/4" component speakers n tweeters Rock out clear n great. Cannot wait to add my jvc arsenal 10" sub! These speakers way surpassed my expectations for $79.99!!!!!!!!!

First of all I want to say that I love dealing with Crutchfield! They're always very helpful when you have problems! I really like these speakers a lot! They sound great with my JVC BonJiovi powered stereo! Crisp and clear! Especially for only being a two way speaker! There might be better speakers out there than these but they wouldn't fit in the front doors of my car. Trust me.. The price of these is very very low for the quality of the sound! Not a ton of bass but there's no way of getting that from a 4by6!
The front speakers just barely fit in and the grill is bulging out just a little bit. But in the rear I could have gone with something a little bigger magnet wise... but still stay with a 4 by 6. The hardest part of the rear install was pulling the vinyl apart without tearing it! (fingertip strength) The rest is really not that hard! I built up the rear footwell with a lot of layers of foam so that I could sit back there and work!

Replaced my stock 4x6 speakers in my 03 ext cab silverado. Huge improvement, clarity and range of music are the biggest changes. Install was easy although the speaker installation instructions are lacking. Crutchfield instructions included helped out with proper and simple door removal. Overall very satisfied. Still running them on the stock stereo, power handling dictates turning the volume up a little more than before with stock speakers. Love the sound, very good alpine speakers. Adam

To start off i just bought a 2002 cavalier, and i wanted to upgrade my audio system. So I got a full system. I got a Kenwood Excelon KDC-X494 headunit, these 4x6 sps alpine speakers for the doors, 6x9 sps speakers for the rear, Kenwood KAC-6404 4 chan amp for the speakers, a jh600 mtx mono block amp, and a JL Audio 12W3v3-4 subwoofer.
I also put bass blockers to these speakers because thats what my subwoofer is for. I did test the bass before adding the blockers, and it was fine for a 4x6, but not great. I will say however the mids and highs sounded great with my amp. I would suggest these to anyone building a system. They make my music sound full and lively.
