Description Features Crutchfield Hands-on Research

Take Canon's popular line of Digital Rebel SLRs, with their classic combination of value and high-performance features. Then add even more megapixels, a superb LCD viewscreen, and HD movie mode, and you've got the exceptional Canon Digital Rebel T1i.

Capture crisp 15-megapixel images
Serious photographers and occasional shooters alike will appreciate the T1i's 15-megapixel photos — it's easy to crop out the portion you want to keep and then enlarge it for detail-rich prints. The 3" LCD has 920,000 dots for a clear, accurate view. That precision is helpful when reviewing photos you've already taken or using Live View mode to compose your shot.

Record movies in HD
The Canon T1i is the first Digital Rebel to offer an HD movie mode; no more carrying a second camera or camcorder around just in case you need to capture a few minutes of video. It's easy to start shooting — just switch from photo mode to movie mode and use the shutter button to start and stop recording. And you can shoot in three different resolutions: the first two are HD, and the third is approximately DVD quality. In addition, the T1i's mini HDMI output lets you connect the camera to your HDTV with an optional cable to check out your latest photos and high-def videos.

Advanced processing and self-cleaning CMOS image sensor
The T1i boasts Canon's Digic 4 processor, for even better processing and more responsive handling of photos. It also employs high-sensitivity, low-noise CMOS sensor technology to deliver pristine images with minimal grain. And this sensor is self-cleaning — it uses ultrasonic vibrations to remove dust particles that can cause spots on your photos.

Capture beautiful, blur-free images
An upgraded 9-point wide-area autofocus system ensures fast, accurate focusing for crisp shots, even in dim lighting. Clever features like Auto Lighting Optimizer and Highlight Tone Priority help you shoot well-exposed shots even when deep shadows threaten to darken a subject's face, or bright light is washing out little details. And the included Canon 18-55mm image-stabilizing zoom lens gives you outstanding, blur-free photos under all kinds of shooting conditions. Capture your images on optional SD™ memory cards — no memory included.

Great Camera but should come with more accessories February-23-11

Great Camera.
Only issues I've found are the following.
1.  To totally eliminate red eye you need an external flash (not the one on the
camera but need to purchase and additional one).  I've found this is the case w/
most cameras but would love for someone to come up with one that doesn't need a
secondary flash.
2.  It comes w/ no memory card.  Luckily I had one from my old point and click
but I still need to buy a larger one to record video.

Wonderful first DSLR June-27-10

A long-time fan of the Canon line of pocket digital Elph cameras, I decided to move up to a
digital SLR.  I stayed with Canon because I have been extremely happy with my previous
Canon cameras.  I chose the Rebel T1i kit because I wanted a reasonbly-priced DSLR
with video capabilities.  I've only been using the camera for 10 days or so, but I am already
IN LOVE.

As soon as I took it out of the box, my fears about learning how to use a DSLR
evaporated.  Although I have only really made use of the automatic functions and the video
features, I am confident that my skills will only improve.  I look forward to learning some of
the manual features, but I am in no hurry since the automatic modes suit most of my day-to-
day needs.

This camera seems to have a brain in it--not just from the image stabilization (IS) feature,
but also in how it senses light to take great shots (without the flash, if I choose).  The close
ups and portraits are stunning.  Additionally, I've had a lot of fun with the self-timer:  when I
set it to take 10 photos in a row, I am sure to get at least 2-3 keepers of a variety of
poses.  I also like how in the midsts of shooting a video, I can take a snapshot.

Between the useful automatic modes--including the very reliable FULL AUTO setting and
the 15 megapixel images, this DSLR takes crisp and clear photos in day and night
conditions that make me feel like a professional photographer (even though I'm not--
shhhh).

Great Camera June-22-10
Reviewer: travis from Pittsburgh PA
Good camera for taking pictures on vacations and just everyday pictures. Instead of spending 2 or 3 thousand dollars for a camera that has a few more megapixels and options this camera will do everything they do unless you think you might become a proffessional photographer for a magazine or something. But with this camera and a good canon printer like the Pixma MP990 you will have your own photographs to do with as you please rather than going to a store that developes pictures under an hour and charges 15 a picture; than this is your solution to getting what you want without the people in front of you going through 2 thousand pictures and waiting in lines. You will definitely want 2 or 3 nice memory cards with this also because you wont want to stop taking pictures.

Im a new fan of Canon now! May-29-09

First I must say thanks to Crutchfield for sending this to a deployed location  in under a week. Crazy quick shipping and FREE. But not insured so if you  have had damaged items before you might step up to some insurance.  However mine arrived just fine. Ok the camera, this thing is amazing. I'm  pretty new to the dlsr world but i think this thing is feature loaded and at a  great price. Takes amazing pictures and is extremely light and portable. The  top three things I was looking for in a dlsr. Settings and ease of use get a 5  and looks and build also a 5.The screen with live view is a big 5! Looks  great even in the sun.. After more in depth use and learning and I'm sure it  will be an outstanding camera. If you need a dslr or an upgrade a highly  recommend this!!!  -Chris
