I owned a Denon AVR-4308ci which got damaged by lightening. I purchased the Denon 4311ci as a replacement. Although the 4311 has a bit more power even though 4311 and 4308 are both rated at 140W, the 4311 LOST zone assignment functionality that the 4308 had. With the 4308, I could run 3 powered zones simultaneously with different sources. The 4311 will only allow 2 powered zones at the same time. You have to buy aseparate amplifier to power a 3rd zone. So, don't think that the 4311 will simply replace your 4308. On the up side, the 4311 has a more intuitive remote control than the 4308 did and the aux remotes that came with the 4308 will also run the 4311. The 4311 also supports 2 subwoofers which is nice.
[Editor's Note: Our Product Research team looked into this and the receiver does have 3 powered Zones. The Main Zone, Zone 2, & Zone 3. You must assign the Surround back channels for Zone 2 and the Front Wide channels for Zone 3 in the receiver's menu. The Main Zone will then be limited to 5.1ch.]

Awesome receiver, remote control has been updated and is the best Denon remote control in my opinion. Just incredible. Receiver is awesome with Pandora, High Definition Radio just to name a few features. The clarity, sound, power is what you expect when you pay a premium price. Just a solid receiver sure to last till the next major electronic gadget comes out into the market. As for the 3D, yes it's ready and capable. But in my case, 3D isn't for me. I just get dizzy looking 3D. But this is just me. I also have a Denon AVR4310, and it's difficult to hear the difference, but I believe the 4311 is a bit clearer, maybe a bit to high, but sounds awesome regardless. Blu-Ray movies sounds just out of this world on my 4311. Hope this helps! Ralph Fort Lauderdale
