| Crutchfield custom wiring harnesses help make installing an aftermarket receiver in your car a little easier by saving soem steps. Simply splice the colour-coded wires on your Crutchfield harness to the wires from your aftermarket radio (most of the wire splices can be made on your work bench or kitchen table; soldering is best, crimping is also very popular - see "Accessories").
Next, plug the Crutchfield harness into the harness that you removed from your factory radio. This harness only includes a 12V switched connection and a dimmer control connection. You will need to make other connections manually.
Since you didn't have to cut off your car's original radio connector, it's easier to put the factory radio back in when you sell your vehicle or return it at the end of the lease. Just plug the factory radio back in and keep the aftermarket radio! Best of all, the harness is free with most of the receivers Crutchfield offers! 30-day warranty.
Connections:
Note: You'll need to make a ground connection between your new receiver and your car's metal chassis. A 12V constant power lead may not be present in your car. If not, and your receiver requires a constant 12V memory lead (most do), run a wire directly to the battery or an appropriate un-switched fuse. This harness does not include speaker wires. It may be necessary to either splice your receiver's speaker wires to existing wires (if present), or run new speaker wires from the receiver to your speakers. See "Accessories" for speaker wire.
