I went with what the other reviews said and it definitely is surprising for an 8". It is put together well and JL has good customer service. It definitely took more grinding than I had envisioned. I installed it in the stock woofer location of my '02 Yukon and it was over a 1/4" big in its OD. It can be done, but man was it messy. Also packing the box with poly was a good move.

The product is built of good quality. Sounds great than Lexus ES 300 OEM sub which i replaced. Had easy hook-up connections to power sub.I brought the product based on reviews from Lexus forums. The product is well worth the price. Its been just one week and the sub has already made lot of parts in my car rattle.Now spending some time to fix the lose parts caused by the sub's excellent performance. I really like the sub.Perfect replacement for 98 Lexus ES300 Nakamachi sub.

I recently purchased a 2010 Focus SES that was equipped with a factory 8" woofer. It sounded...ok, but it wasn't enough. I decided that I would replace the factory 8" woofer and started to research the enclosure to see what would fit. From my readings it looked like the JL 8W1v2 would be a very close fit. There were other options that would have bolted in, but I know JL's reputation for quality so I went ahead and ordered the JL. It did not fit the enclosure just right. Mounting depth was about 1/4in too deep. A little time with a heat gun and a little molding later and it fit perfectly. I tried it on the factory amp and it sounded a little better than the original subwoofer. I wasn't happy! So I bought a JL Audio JX250/1 amplifier and JL amp wiring kit. Holy moly I had NO IDEA that a little 8" sub could POUND like that!! This sub/amp combo far exceeded my expectations and I could not be happier with the final result in my car. Big thanks to Crutchfield and JL Audio!

I have a 1999 expedition and my bass speaker blew .I did tons of research on bass speakers . Some of the stuff was confusing but,I started reading reviews and they were so helpful.Thats why im writing mine :).It was a pain in the rear to get old one out and the new one went in np at all. When I installed it my very first song was from pinkfloyd . I listen to 104.5 and 93.3 so a mix of music.I think it is well worth the money and sounds awesome .The sound is definantly an upgrade from stock speaker.Very good speaker from JL .Its been in for 2 weeks and after a few days it sounded better ,so it does take a few days to break in I didnt know that.A VERY VERY NICE BASS SPEAKER FROM JL,AND TY FOR THE REVIEWS, THEY WERE VERY VERY HELPFUL

Choosing a sub-woofer for my car was very challenging,a 2007 Pontiac Solstice convertible.I have very little space to replace the stock unit.This one was reccomended by a professional installer because it woud fit.Pared it with the JL Audio amp.AWSOME base.The base is very tight,much better than the stock unit and it will take alot of power,really amazing for a 8" sub and well worth the money.
