Features
CEA 2006 Compliant: The KAC-6404's power ratings are measured according to the strict standards dictated by the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA). These standards allow you to accurately compare the rated power output of all CEA 2006-compliant amplifiers, even if they come from different brands. Manufacturers who adhere to the standards can display the CEA 2006 logo on their products and packaging.
Line Level Inputs: The KAC-6404's A and B channels each have RCA line-level inputs with independent gain (Input Sensitivity) controls. The inputs will accept signals of 0.2 V (200mV) to 5.0 Volts.
Speaker Level Input: The KAC-6404 comes with a four channel speaker level input harness. Once you splice the speaker wires from the receiver to the harness, you have plug-in convenience to the amplifier. This feature makes it easier to add an amplifier to a factory radio or to a receiver with no preamp outputs. The maximum power output from the source receiver can be no more than 40 watts.
Crossovers: The A and B channels have independent crossovers. The A channels have a fixed 80Hz high pass filter with a switch that allows you to choose high-pass or full-range (HPF off) operation. The B channels have a low pass filter that is continuously variable between 50Hz and 200Hz, with a switch for selecting low-pass or full-range (LPF off) operation. When the B Channel filter switch is in the LPF position, the output is changed to monaural and the gain is enhanced.
Protection circuitry: The amplifier features protection circuits that will turn the amp off in case of the following events:
- Speaker output contacts ground
- Speaker wire short-circuits
- Unit malfunctions and DC is sent to speaker output
- Internal temperature is too high
- Loss of ground of head unit or amp
