Q
What should you use for an adhesive along with the screws I don't want it to rattle or whistle?

So this part was installed into a custom built sub box. Depending on how thick your box is should determine the length of your screws. I used 1/2" wood screws, and liquid nail. But it already had a snug fit for the hole I cut and carpet that the box was wrapped in.

I used liquid nail as a gasket and then screwed it down, much how the rest of the enclosures was constructed. This was also the first enclosure I built due to where I wanted to hide the sub, so my advice should hold little weight. I also built it keeping in mind that it was only going to be for a single 12, 500watt, low volume enclosure setup, I didn't have to build Fort Knox.

you can try a multi purpose industrial epoxy adhesive or i hear super glue works well. be careful not to over use the super glue upon application.

It didnt rattle in my box but simple calking should do, or even put electrical tape on the back edges before screwing it down
kevin  Jul 17, 2019
A
You could apply silicone sealant or construction adhesive around the inside flange prior to inserting it into the box to ensure a tight seal.

Is this metal or plastic?

Everything is plastic, minus the terminals obviously, which are metal.

It's plastic. Pretty good rigidity though. The terminals themselves are metal.
