This product worked well for about 3 months then stopped working; should have noted the other reviews that stated the same. Typical of Sony, unilink does not play well with others. Trying the Sony XA-300 this time. Love Crutchfield! very much, their support on my last stereo install was above and beyond.

Works on old Sony CDX-5000x, with a catch |

I had an old Sony CDX-5000X with the Audio Bus in. The PAC unilink adputer was able to plug in, but I needed to clearance the strain relief with a grinder. It was very minor and was because the head unit had an indentation to put the plug in. Turning on the stereo I was able to select FM1, and then CD2 for the source list. The only catch is that if you also were playing a CD from the CD1 input and shut it down from that screen, you won't see the CD again. The only way to get it back is to remove power from the head unit, remove PAC adapter, then power head unit back on to remove CD. Then remove power, install PAC adapter again, and finally restore power. I expect some difficult with an old head unit and audio in, but at least it works if I follow my process of always returning to the FM1 source before shutting off the radio. It other wise works fine with my iPhone.

Bought this for my Sony CDX-C680. It works, but with a couple problems:
1) The input signal isn't amplified much, so I have to turn the volume up to almost max (which affects audio quality) to hear my iPod at a reasonable level.
2) This is the big one: About once a day, the radio stops functioning in any mode other than radio. I have to re-set the unit each time, which means I lose my clock, audio settings and saved radio stations.
That said, I will probably keep the piece. It does make listening to the iPod easier, and at a huge savings over other solutions. Even though it doesn't work properly, it still saves me money.

This product worked great on my Sony CDX-C7050X. Easy install. Just pushed Source and
then Mode to get it to go to CD2.
At one point, however, my head unit malfunctioned and I could not access any CD or CD
function. I removed my faceplate and reset it. Worked fine. Not sure if it was adapter or not.
Still highly recommend this.
