Description Crutchfield Hands-on Research Accessories

Got a portable music player? Then you probably know that a direct connection to your vehicle's radio will give you the best possible sound quality. The Precision Interface Electronics FRDR-AUX adapter lets you convert the CD changer port on your Ford, Lincoln, or Mercury factory stereo into an auxiliary input, suitable for connecting an add-on satellite radio tuner, portable music player, or other audio source.

Just plug the 13-pin speaker/power cable and the 14-pin data connecter into the factory radio's changer ports, connect your portable player to the adapter's RCA inputs, press "CD" on the radio, and go! This adapter uses the CD changer port — once connected, you can't use a changer with your factory radio. Warranty: 90 days.

Please enter your vehicle information or call a Sales Advisor at 1-888-955-6000 to find out if this adapter is compatible with your vehicle.

A great, easy fix for Ford's less than ideal audio May-08-12
Reviewer: Brian from Kansas City, KS
I'd always used a tape deck converter to listen to my iPod in my car despite it being a less than ideal setup. I got a junk yard replacement for the center audio/climate console in my '98 Taurus when the tape deck broke down and when the second console broke down a year later, I was really glad to find this solution. This converter plugs in easily and with an RCA-3.5mm headphone jack converter, I can listen to whatever I want in my car without losing audio integrity as with through the tape deck converter. Sounds as good as Ford's factory speakers were ever meant to sound.

Excellent sound & installed in 10 minutes February-29-12
Reviewer: Abdul Alatawi from Morgantown, WV
Once I received the adapter about two weeks ago, I was eager to install it on my 2003 Ford Taurus right away, and it took me less than 10 minutes. I have a CD single disc which can be connected to a 6 disc CD changer in the trunk. To install it, I opened the trunk and found on the left side (The driver side) a box with three outputs, two are connected and the third one is free. I just looked up the cables and the pins and how they formed and connect each of the Four ends of the cable that came with the adapter to the three ports of the box in the trunk. Then connected the two audio ports on the adapter with a Y audio cable the ends with a male end which I connected to my iPhone. The sound is excellent.  The adapter has good price comparing to professional installed product. I went to an audio shop in my town to compare the prices. The technical said that he would need to order the adapter for me and it will arrive in 5 days then he will charge me for the adapter then a lot more for labor and needed cables. However,  when you buy the adapter from crutchfield.com you will pay less and wait about 3 to 5 days and install it easily in   10 minutes. So, Thank you very much crutchfield.com team for this amazing product.

Great Alternative to FM Transmitters May-18-11
Reviewer: r. d. from NH
This product was easy to install (once I found the box in the trunk) and running
a cable from the trunk to the front cabin is easy enough.  I'd recommend having
someone install this device if you're not comfortable with the DIY and OEM
nature of this part.

Worked As Expected April-11-11
Reviewer: MTBuilder from Houston, TX
It installed easily in my 2003 Taurus.  I originally had the CD player in the
dash but no changer.  This plugged in and worked without problems.  I've been
using it nearly everyday for about 10 months to play music from my phone or
ipod.  Running a cord under the carpet up to the center console was the most
unpleasant part of installation.
