Connect your iPhone or iPod to the AVIC-X920BT

Powerful navigation

Navigation screen

The AVIC-X920BT guides you with detailed Tele Atlas® maps of Canada and the entire U.S., stored on built-in flash memory so you won't have to insert a disc when you need directions. Over 12 million points-of-interest help you find the services you need when travelling, whether you're looking for a gas station or your favourite coffee shop. The system's text-to-speech function announces street names as you go, so you'll always know you're making the correct turn.

AVIC FEEDS

Pioneer's AVIC FEEDS add a whole new level of fun and functionality to your navigation experience. If you've got an iPhone® you can use AVIC FEEDS to transfer destinations from Google Maps, download points-of-interest from the Internet, and more. The ECO Graphs function even lets you keep track of your carbon emissions and gas mileage when you're taking a trip.

Pioneer and Pandora, a perfect match

Pandora screen shot

You can play music from the Pandora music service through the Pioneer AVIC-X920BT. Connect your iPhone® with the Pandora app to the receiver with the optional CD-IU50V cable and control Pandora, plus see artist, album, and song info on the screen. You can even give a "thumbs-up" or "thumbs-down" by touching the receiver's screen.

You can take charge of your own music by installing Pioneer's MusicSphere software on your computer — you'll be able to create your own special playlists based on attributes like mood, dates of songs, rhythms, and more. A "DJ Playlist" function puts together mixes of up to 100 tracks for your driving enjoyment.

Hands-free phoning with voice control

You can make hands-free calls easily with a compatible phone. How easily? Just ask — Pioneer's Conversational Voice Control voice-recognition software understands your conversational request to make a phone call, prompting you for additional information when required.

Built-in Bluetooth also supports audio music streaming (A2DP) so you can stream music wirelessly from compatible mobile devices to the receiver. Even better, if your device has a Pandora Internet radio app, this receiver recognizes it as another source, allowing you to select from the stations you've created.

More entertainment options

rear view

Connect audio sources through the USB input, SD card slot, or audio/video inputs. Tap into the variety of SIRIUS/XM radio with a satellite radio tuner, or add Pioneer's HD Radio™ tuner to enjoy the crystal-clear sound and extra programming from participating stations.

Check out your video DVDs on the on the receiver's screen when the car is parked, or connect a rear-seat video screen so your passengers can enjoy the show while you drive. Plug in a rear-view camera to the dedicated input and feel more secure when backing up in tight spaces.

Bluetooth went bad September-08-11
Reviewer: MT from Houston, Texas
The bluetooth in my system went out 2 days before the one year warranty expired.  My fault for not buying the extended warranty.  Two days was not enough time to remove the radio from my dash and ship to Pioneer Service in California.  It has awesome capabilities that still work like navigation, ipod control, microdisk play, and satellite radio. However with the bluetooth out, the VR function no longer works on ony of those. The repairs are a third the cost of the unit.  Not sure I am going to fix it.  Not a very happy customer right now..... Let me be clear, I have no issues with Crutchfield, their customer service was great.  I just have issues with Pioneer.

The Pioneer Avic x920bt is a great navigation receiver that includes many features that are only found on more expensive units.

The interface is top notch compared to its competitors and is quick.  Navigation is a breeze and is fairly accurate.  Map upgrades are not available unless you upgrade to the newer models coming out.

Ipod and Iphone compatibility is a bit behind after the Iphone 4.  I think a firmware update could fix this.  You see this with Pandora dieing out and have to reconnect the Iphone physically.

Voice recognition is the coolest feature and is surprisingly accurate for being stacked up to Google's voice recognition on any Android phone.  It is developed with a Microsoft voice recognition library.  The voice sounds just like Ford's Sync system, but not all the same commands are available.

I have very little cons about this unit but many pros.  I give this unit a 4 out of 5.  Very Solid receiver but it is a last year model.  I look forward to seeing what Pioneer can do in the future.

not impressed June-06-11

Great audio - everything else so-so April-21-11
Reviewer: JasonB from Nashville, TN
Sound quality is great, using the touch screen is far better than using the iPod wheel. The display is pretty, menus straight forward, blue-tooth connection trouble free and calls sound good on both ends.

The pandora app has trouble connecting to my iPhone4. I almost always have to unplug the phone then plug it back in before the unit will recognize it. Then if you get a call in, pandora shuts down and you have to unplug / plug to get it back. The thumbs up button gets stuck in the selected position, making it impossible to thumbs up subsequent songs. And, there is no forward button (only thumbs up and down). Tagging does work well, but its probably just as good to use a bluetooth unit. Certainly the interface needs polish.

The voice control for selecting songs and browsing by artist is super great, when it works, which is about 60% of the time.

When using the GPS with no route set, the location of you car is a good 200 yards behind where you actually are. When you have a route plan it improves, and turn prompts are on the money. But IMO, this just adds to an already disappointing product.

Finally, the whirly interface of music sphere app isn't enough to make up for the fact that it simply creates several genius mixes, but takes 2.5 resource hogging days to do it.

Crutchfield was great with needed installation support. I'll be calling them to see about exchanging this unit. Got to think there is a better system for the money.

Bad GPS! Bad Bluetooth! April-12-11
Reviewer: Mark K from Belmont, Ca
The GPS on this unit was horrible. Took such along time to correctly position my vehicle that I was at my destination before it locked in. Frequently would have me at my last location when I turned off the ignition and wouldn't find me for minutes after! The Bluetooth function also was horrible. Would keep asking me to repeat or would say "I didn't get that" and would never get it. I switched to a Kenwood 9980HD and while more expensive it was way worth it. Only saving grace of this unit was the stereo which worked fine and was clear and crisp. If you are thinking of this unit I would pick another model or brand. Pioneer doesnt have their act together when it comes to GPS and they need to go back to the drawing board or incorporate Garmin or Tom Tom.
