Great replacement for my stock speakers. The bass is not very impressive but I have a
subwoofer so I dont need much bass from the woofer. So worth the money.

Replaced my stock E36 M3 blown speakers with this set and was a great replacement for the $$. The floor 5.25" are a direct fit but the tweeters for the doors need a little modifications. Overall sound great. Handles perfectly on stock Amp. Crisp and deep. A+++++
For the door tweeters - all needed was a modified extra large washer for the front side of the door panels (cutout steel, plastic, etc..) to lock and hold the tweeters in place while securing the tweeter's lock on the inside of the door panels. Sound and look great..

The stock 2004 Corolla woofers reproduced significantly more bass than these woofers. The lack of bass compared to stock is disconcerting. I used XTC foam baffles hoping to help bass reproduction. I would be very unhappy with the lack of bass output if I wasn't going to install a sub in the trunk. But still, I would like to have a little more bass fill in from the front doors instead of all be coming from the rear stock 6x9s and future 10" sub. I didn't used to expect much bass out of 5 1/4" woofers, but the A/B comparison (left stock hooked up, right Pioneer hooked up, balance shift L/R, head center in vehicle) against stock changed my expectation based upon the impressive bass (although not tight) from the stock woofer.
I had to do extensive modification to the tweeters and tweeter enclosure to fit these in. They really aren't 7/8" like advertised- they are closer to 1.5" diameter. The positives I noticed are increased clarity, and better upper midrange to high frequency definition compared to the stock tweeters.
The reason I changed the stock component speakers for the Pioneers was a lack of musicality (muddiness and lack of detail). But now I realize I could have just changed the headunit (kenwood excelon on order) to get midrange EQ and treat the muddiness issue. I'm not thrilled so far, but maybe there are modifications I can make with some experienced advice to help the front woofers reproduce bass more??

These are excellent matching speakers to my Pioneer receiver. I installed tweeter in the
door by flush mounting on the angle included by factory. The woofer installed easily with
hardware and Crutchfield adapter. I had to re use my old baffles as I did not order new
ones, and the old ones are still like new since I first installed them 6 yrs ago. The
crossovers were placed in the door inside pocked and the wires were put through
drilled holes from underneath to the speakers behind factory grilles. I was happy to be
able to fit the Pioneer grilles ontop of the speakers unlike the old Rockford fosgates that
thesse replaced. Otherwise it would be uncharacteristic to see these Pioneer speakers
from behind the door grilles without Pioneer grilles.
All in all, these speakers have met my expectations and more. Whenever I hear clear
highs from my tweeters, that means I placed the speakers in correct position to my ears
and a job well done. But more important I can say I installed the hardware correctly and
neatly from behind where its hidden, and the Pioneer system was picked by myself with
the help of Crutchfield representative.

these are great sounding speakers can not say enough about them, i tried several others including top brands like jl audio which cost 500.00 a pair and i have to say these are the best i have heard, no joke. the manual is not much, but if u cant hook + and - up then maybe u shouldnt be play around with installing, cross overs are small, very easy to fit not like others i have had that u have to mount inside your door. excellent buy!!!!
