Features

Dual Voice Coils: For increased system flexibility, the woofer has two 4 ohm voice coils. When the voice coils are wired in parallel, the woofer presents a 2 ohm load. When the voice coils are wired in series, the woofer presents an 8 ohm load. In addition, each coil may be connected to a different amplifier channel and each channel will see a 4 ohm load.

Cone Materials: The cone was developed using Kicker's SoloKon technology. The ultra high performance injection moulded polypropylene cone remains rigid and minimizes cone flex, lowering harmonic distortion. Distortion in the cone is further reduced with new back bracing.

Surround: The optimized ribbed Santoprene surround allows extended cone excursion for additional bass output and higher SPL. The surround is double-stitched to the cone to add a mechanical fastener to the chemical adhesives. This prevents the cone and surround from separating in the harshest conditions.

Enhanced BAM (Basket And Motor) Assembly: The high-strength steel basket features a low-profile open design, and provides a solid foundation for the precision-aligned motor assembly. Perimeter venting in the BAM relieves pressure from under the spider, supports a linear excursion, and helps dissipate heat from the voice coil and motor structure.

UniPlate Construction: The woofer features a one-piece UniPlate construction with a vented hyper-extended pole piece and backplate. This unique design provides the following benefits:

  • Optimizes heat transfer efficiency for cooler operation and maximum power handling ability
  • Eliminates erratic magnetic flux from the voice coil gap
  • Releases pressure under the suspension for uniform cone movement and responsive low bass
  • Prevents the voice coil from bottoming out and corresponding damage

Tinsel Leads: The woofer features sleeved high-power tinsel lead wires to resist breakage and power-robbing resistance losses. The lead wires are terminated with polymer-based strain relieving mechanical fasteners.

Speaker Terminals: The spring loaded, nickel-plated terminals provide solid connections for speaker wire up to 8 gauge. Single banana plugs and pin connectors will also fit.

Break-in Period: Due to the complex nature of Kicker Comp VR speakers, they require a break-in period in order to produce optimum low-bass response. The high-performance suspension system makes the speaker very stiff out-of-the-box. Approximately 2 weeks of daily playing will allow the suspension to break-in and reach its optimum equilibrium. A broken-in subwoofer will exhibit stronger bass performance, smoother response, and greater low-bass extension.

Rubber Magnet Boot: A black rubber boot covers the outside edge of the magnet structure to improve the cosmetics of the woofer and protect the magnet during installation.

Marine Ready: This woofer is made with a powder coated, weather resistant basket and stainless steel hardware, so it can be used in marine and mobile applications.

Enclosure Compatibility

Power Handling: The power handling specifications differ according to the type and size of the enclosure. The power handling specifications assume that both voice coils are in use. Note: Both voice coils in a dual voice coil speaker should always be connected.

Recommended Sealed Box Volume:

  • Compact (minimum enclosure volume): 0.8 cu/ft; the woofer can handle up to 300 watts RMS (150 watts per voice coil)
  • SQ (maximum enclosure volume): 3 cu/ft; the woofer can handle up to 300 watts RMS (150 watts per voice coil)

Recommended Vented Box Volume:

  • Compact: 1.25 cu/ft; 2" x 10.5" port opening; 20" port depth; the woofer can handle up to 200 watts RMS (100 watts per voice coil)
  • SPL/Deep Bass: 1.75 cu/ft; 2.5" x 10.5" port opening; 20" port depth; the woofer can handle up to 200 watts RMS (100 watts per voice coil)

Note: The power handling specifications listed with the vented enclosure recommendations apply only when a 25Hz, 24dB/octave subsonic filter (sold separately) is used with this woofer. If a subsonic filter is not used, power handling may decrease, excessive port noise can occur, and the life of the woofer may be shortened.

Great sub. I only have one in the back seat of my 03 Dodge Ram Duad Cab and it
shakes good.  My amp is only 400 watts. I wish i had more power. Also make sure your
box is big enough. Because of space my box is only .5 cubic feet and .8 cubic feet is the
recomended minimum.

Great Sub November 18, 2008

This is by far the best sub I have ever owned. Even before it was broke in this sub was capable of tremendous bass. My main objective was to compliment front components in a pickup without using a lot of space. It does this and more. I have always thought Kicker was only for serious thumping, this added the smooth bass I was looking for, plus it still has the ability for seriously loud accurate bass. All of this in a 10" sealed enclosure.

Exceptional 10s for your $$$ October 6, 2008

After reading several of the posts, I decided to buy a pair of the compvr 10s to trade out my miserable old 10s. Both are dual voice, 4Ohm, 300W RMS subs btw. Dual 10s in a sealed, chambered .9cu feet box connected to an 250g4 in mono bridged 1 ohm configuration sourced by an Alpine cda-9886 hu. All I can say is WOW! These subs blew away (literally!) the old subs. No comparison. They took everything my amp could throw up at them with no distortion. Unbelieveable! the SPL in my small two seater was physically unbearable after about 60 seconds. I will never have it up that high unless I'm outside the car in a competition or just showing off the raw power of the subs. I am extremely happy with them and how they sound. Like they said in the old days, " Those things HIT!" ;)

Kickers!!!! June 29, 2008

I wasn't impressed at first compared to the Stillwater Designs of the early 90's which were the bomb. I put them in a 1.25 sealed and they sounded ok but not what I was looking for so I put my Kappa Perfects back in. I recently picked up a .71 cf dual down fire (Silverado) enclosure and pulled those CVR's out of the garage stuffed them with poly fill and they straight rocked. Nothing like I've heard in years. I'm running an Alpine Mrd M301 on each sub; about 350 rms @ 2 ohms each. I gave them a 4 because they don't sound better than my Kappa Perfects, they won't fit in my enclosure. Good sub and I recommend for sq. and decent price. Just make sure you have the right enclosure.

Best subs for the money March 14, 2008

I have two of these hooked to a profile ap1200 in my sliverado ext. cab. These things knock hard on rap or rock. I even have these subs underpowered and they hit way hard. Very clear sound.
