GREAT is about the best way to describe the Sanas VMAA26 mount. It took my son-in- law 37 minutes to install the mount and and hang my 70 lb. 54" Panasonic plasma TV. I would recommend this unit to anyone who wants a quality product.

It arrived fast and I had it up a day later with a 46" Samsung LCD TV. The instructions are pretty good, especially if you've put together knock down/flat pack furniture before. Believe the other comments -- you'll need two strong people to hang the TV on the mount, and you must find the centers of two wood studs because the whole thing is very heavy. Once up, it moves easily and smoothly, like it weighs nothing. I really bought it for the 26" extension feature. When I'm done watching, I glide it back 2 feet to keep the TV well protected. Pulling it out 2 feet before firing up the system has impressed a couple of neighbors! Recommended.

Great mount, but.... |

... be prepared to improvise a bit during installation. Right from step 1, the machine screws included did not work with my new Sony Bravia XBR 40". The short screws were too short & the long ones too long, so off to the hardware store for screws. While I was there I picked up stainless lags (read the other reviews). Next, the allen wrench included with the hardware was the wrong size - very frustrating. Somewhere around step 6 I discovered the instructions were out of sequence, so I had to backtrack a bit. But once it's installed, the mount is like a tank & works very well. Hardware & instructions issues aside, I'd give it a 5/5.

If there's a chance you'll change your viewing position, consider this instead of a cheaper tilt only mount. My 83 year old mom can swivel it with a 52" Samsung LCD TV. The listing here is for 50" or less sets: Sanus now lists it up to 56". Install was very straightforward; you will need two adults and I'd plan for two hours. The instructions are very clear and all parts are included. Make very sure you've got the wall stud located and you're drilling into the center. If there's an outlet close the floor near the stud you'll be using, then be a wire is probably stapled to one side of the stud. Make a couple of extra passes with a stud finder (don't just bang on the wall and listen) to make sure you've got the stud located. I did replace the screws used to mount the brackets to the set. Sanus supplies two lengths of screws for every possible diameter for the set screw holes. For me, one seemed to barely enter the set screws while the other seemed to make contact with something inside the TV at the last turn. I bought a few screws of in-between lengths (totaled under $4) but same size diameter and threading (metric) as those that fit my set. They worked perfectly. You'll need two adults to: help place the wall brackets, lift the TV onto the mount, and steady the TV while you make the final adjustments. Both Sanus and Crutchfield have great sales and tech support.

Solid - few complaints |

The product was solid and well built. Assembly was not difficult. A few minor gripes. While the loose parts were conveniently packaged in separate pouches sorted by the step in the assembly instructions, apparently the instructions changed at some point and no longer match the steps marked on the parts. Also, the Crutchfield web site says it is good up to a 52" set (which mine is), but the manufacturer's manual says it is only rated for up to a 50" set. The Crutchfield rep assured me that as long as the weight limits were not exceeded it would be fine. So far so good. I just recommend this discrepancy be reconciled to avoid future confusion.
[Editor's Note: While the manufacturers information only lists TV's up to 50", our research team has identified this will work with TV's up to 52".]
