So easy to set-up, great sound, name-able (living room, bedroom, etc). I bought two, open floorplan downstairs is easily accomodated by one Play 5 and master bedroom gets the other. Seamless upload of my itunes library (mac has to be on and open), many free radio stations, turn on downstairs from the bedroom to surprise wife every now and then, awesome. Set up to work from ipad, two android phones, and two former iphones. redundant? yes, who cares? the system can take like 30 controllers!!!

Sonos is a great system... if you can afford it (it should come down in price if you ask me), but it is very great quality with nice deep sound. Simply put it is a great whole house music system that is easily customizable but is a bit pricey.

After researching several options for pumping music through our new house, which is more than twice the size of our other home, I decided to purchase the SONOS 5. I ended up getting three of these, plus the Bridge. Set-up was easy. The Bridge is installed into the Time Capsule, and relays the music throughout the house, into the backyard and garage. So far there have been no interruptions in the music, and no issues. I expect to order two more the of 5's soon. Operating the system is easy, either through the Mac, or iPod Touch. You can use your iPhone or iPad as well. I suggest that you do not buy the Sonos Controller. It is too expensive, and has limited value. I opted for a 32 GB iPod touch, which was less expensive than the Controller, and has a lot more flexibility and capability.
I first hesitated to order these due to the cost. But I now see that this was actually a great value. A lot better than wiring speakers throughout the house. And the mobility is quite easy. All you need is a power outlet to stream music. Each speaker can play different music at the same time, or all can play the same music, filling your house with sound. I'm not sure I've ever been so happy with any other system. I think everyone should these.

I bought the Sonos Play 5, a Play 3 and a Bridge at the same time. My initial impression when removing them from the box was that they were well built and solid. It's hard to describe, but putting hands on the items just instilled a sense of quality. Kind of like driving an expensive car, it just feels right.
Setting up the equipment was extremely easy. I know my way around an A / V system and a computer, but it was honestley very simple. Someone with limited knowledge should have no issues in getting it going.
I have the Play 5 in the corner of my living room pointing to the dining room. It's an old house and not very open with alomost every room very compartmentalized. Having said that, the Play 5 does an awesome job of pumping out the sound and filling the space pretty well. The sound is excellent too. For those who like to spend thousands on their audio equipment, I'm sure you'll find areas to improve upon, but for the rest of us with "normal" hearing abilities the Sonos Play 5 will more than satisfy your needs. The low end isn't incredible, but for the size, still impressive. Remember, it's not a 10" powered sub in the corner of a room.
I put the Play 3 upstairs in the master bedroom, again in the corner of the room. While it sounds good, there is an obvious difference between the sound quality of the 3 and the 5. Obviously there are more drivers in the 5 so it's to be expected. Bottom line: Play 3 will work, but a Play 5 would be better.
