Great TV May-05-11

I bought this TV for our bedroom, and it does the job. Color is bright, and the
sound is very good for a small set.
The only problem is that the picture fades a little from an angle, but this is
not a problem in a bedroom where you are looking straight on most of the time

I purchased this TV to replace a Sony Trinitron that I've had since 1977 that I
had been using in my garage to watch while running on my treadmill.  I use an
antenna on my roof and the digital tuner on the new set was able to find 63
local digital stations here in the San Francisco Bay Area!  The setup and scan
was easy to do and the picture quality is in a different league from the old
set, so of course it is infinitely better.  However, I was unable to hear the
sound while running hard.  In addition to using the digital tuner on the new
set, I watch DVDs and connected the DVD player/recorder to the new TV with a new
HDMI cable.  When playing a DVD, the sound is even softer and I literally cannot
hear it.  I had to order a stereo receiver and bookshelf speakers to increase
the sound enough to hear because the speakers on the new TV are too small.  I
actually re-hooked up the old TV to use in parallel with the new TV while
waiting for the new speakers so I could watch the new picture but hear the sound
on the old TV.  I covered the old TV screen with a towel so I would not be
distracted by the faded old picture.  So if you are going to watch TV in a noisy
area such as a gym, realize that these new flat screen sets have tiny built in
speakers and you may need to add an external sound system.
