About the Kicker 46HS10

Bob Bihlmayer

Bigger bass for your small space

When Kicker created the original Hideaway™ compact HS8 powered sub, they wanted to make a subwoofer that could fit almost anywhere and still deliver the performance that made Kicker famous. The HS10 sub adds the extra punch of a 10" speaker and a built-in 180-watt amplifier to give you really impressive bass response from a sub that will still fit almost anywhere.

Tough and adjustable

With a Kicker 10" woofer, you can expect serious low end, and you can install the HS10 under most seats to bring the bass right up close. The tough all-aluminum chassis and stylish metal grille protect the speaker and deliver great sound. High- and low-level inputs give you plenty of options for hooking up your sub, and the HS10 can accept input signals from 0.25 to 40 volts so it works with almost any vehicle without adding a line output converter.

Dial in your sound

The Hideaway includes an adjustable low-pass crossover, a subsonic filter to improve efficiency, a phase switch, and a variable +6 dB bass boost adjustable with the included remote control bass knob. The HS10 also offers two auto turn-on options. The package includes a wiring harness for power, signal and remote turn-on connections with a quick-connect Molex® plug to make installation simple.

Features

Remote Control: The wired remote puts subwoofer output level control within easy reach. The remote housing is designed to mount under the dash and the included 20' cable, with a 3.5mm mini-plug on both ends, connects the remote to the subwoofer.

Dimensions:

  • Width: 1⅝"
  • Height: 1"
  • Depth: 1¼" (3" deep including the knob and cable)

Subsonic Filter: Frequencies that cannot be reproduced by the subwoofer do not become sound, but unnecessary oscillations causing distortion; these frequencies also waste amplifier power and can damage speakers. The subsonic filter removes inaudible frequencies to improve the performance of the sub by eliminating this harmful distortion. The 24 dB/octave subsonic filter's crossover point is 25 Hz.

Mounting: The subwoofer, with its 3⅜" height, can be mounted in applications with limited space, even under a seat in the passenger compartment of many vehicles. The four mounting brackets are bolted to the bottom of the chassis, and can extend the width or length (or a combination of the two). Each bracket extends just over ¾" from the sub.

Controls

Auto Turn-on: two position switch

  • +12V: amp turns on when 12 volts is applied to the remote turn-on wire
  • DC: amp turns on when a DC offset signal is present on the speaker-level input (not possible when using line level inputs); when the amp turns on using DC offset, the remote turn-on wire outputs +12 volt and can be used to turn on an additional amplifier

Input Level: two position switch

  • Hi: accepts signal input from 1 volt to 40 volts
  • Lo: accepts signal input from 250mV to 10 volts

Phase: two position switch; set the subwoofer phase to 0° or 180°

Bass Boost: rotary dial to adjust the bass boost; continuously variable from 0 to 6 dB; boost centered at 40 Hz

Crossover Frequency: rotary dial to control the low pass crossover frequency; 50-120 Hz; the crossover slope is 18 dB/octave

Gain: rotary dial to set the amplifier gain control; 1-40 volts for speaker level inputs and 250mV to 10 volts for line level inputs

Connections

Harness: The Quick-Connect harness has wires for power (17 feet/14-gauge), ground (2 feet/14-gauge), remote turn-on (2 feet/20-gauge), and signal input (8 feet/20-gauge). If using a speaker level input, just splice into the wire in the harness. If using a line level input, a speaker wire to RCA adapter is needed (item number 20646KISL sold separately). The included in-line fuse holder should be added to the power wire at the battery location.

Remote Bass: 3.5mm mini-jack for use with the included wired remote

Fuse: one 15-amp ATO fuse installed in the chassis

Q
Can this be used as downward firing? I want to use to replace the alpine sub in PSS23wra.
shane  Apr 05, 2024
1 answer
A
Greetings Shane. Thank you for your question. It can be used as a down firing sub, it just does not come with mounting brackets to make it a down firing sub. The Kicker or any other subwoofer would not mount right to the Alpine WRA sub bracket. You would, have to fabricate something. You can buy the Alpine PWE-S8 subwoofer as a stand alone powered sub as well.

Q
Would using 2 of these be close to running a single sub in a shallow box or would it be worst? Looking for a little more bass so I was wondering. If it is better, how would I hook up 2 of these?
chey  Apr 04, 2024
1 answer
A
Hey Chey, so two of these together would get you pretty close to a single sub in overall performance. As far as hooking up two, you would just need to tap into the same existing audio source for both subs and each one also needs to be ran to the battery for the power.

Q
Does it matter where in my truck (2024 Colorado) I install this sub? I have read that it is the owners preference, but will placement affect the sound quality? My options are under driver seat, front passenger, or anywhere under the back bench seat. Where will it sound best? Or does it really not matter?
kit  Mar 29, 2024
1 answer
A
Hey Kit, thanks for the question. When it comes to subs, placement is typically not very important as bass notes are very wide and slow by nature so they are designed to just spread out. Because of that, it really is preferential thing though personally I like front passenger when I can make it work but the sub is a bit big so bench seat might be the play there.

Q
I have a 1955 Chevy with a generator, will this work?
tom  Mar 19, 2024
1 answer
A
The Kicker 46HS10 Hideaway universal install subwoofer can work in many applications, Tom. It does require 12-volt DC power for use. If your 1955 has been converted to a 12-volt DC system then you can install the Kicker 46HS10 subwoofer! The Kicker requires a speaker-level input signal from your radio and has an auto turn-on feature as well. This is one of my favorite personal powered subwoofers as it performs well and is very flexible on install!

Q
Does this fit underneath the DRIVER seat of a 2nd gen Tacoma 05-15? I've seen some say they don't fit in 3rd gen.. but want confirmation before purchase.
vincent  Mar 18, 2024
1 answer
A
Hey Vincent, we don't measure under seats for size confirmation when we build our vehicle files. That will be something you would want to double check on your end but the dimensions for that Kicker are 9.834"W x 3.324"H x 14.5"D so that should help with your verification.
red  Mar 18, 2024 (Staff)
Q
Can you put 2 of these in a 2024 enclave ?
kirt  Mar 13, 2024
1 answer
A
I see no reason why not, Kirt. IF you have the Bose premium audio system in your 2024 Enclave it is equipped with an active noise cancellation system. When you add an aftermarket amplifier, processor, or subwoofer, you'll need to disable that system. We do not qualify universal powered subwoofers like the Kicker for specific vehicle fit, so make sure to measure your intended installation location carefully and compare to the listed dimensions for the Kicker 46HS10 subwoofer. You will need to tap-in to a speaker-level audio signal for both subwoofers, and the Kicker 46HS10 comes with power and ground wiring included.

Hey Jacob, great question. If you are referring to the wiring harness with the power, ground, remote and speaker input harness, that can be sourced directly from Kicker at the below website: https://www.kicker.com/PTPHWH

Can this fit under my passenger seat in a Toyota Camry 2018?
danielle  Oct 25, 2023

Greetings Danielle. Thank you for your question. Unfortunately, we do not take measurements under vehicle seating. If you have 3.324 inches under the seat, and 9.834 between the seat mounting bolts it will fit.

Will this fit under 2012 Camry seat?
anthony  Sep 26, 2023

A
Greetings Anthony. Thank you for your question. Chances are pretty good, but we do not measure under vehicle seating. If you have space for these dimensions 9.834"W x 3.324"H x 14.5"D, it will fit.

Greetings Dane, and thank you for your question. Unfortunately we do not measure underneath vehicles seats. You will have to take those yourself. The dimensions of this Kicker is 9.834"W x 3.324"H x 14.5"D

Can this mount upright behind seat in a std cab Nissan hardbody?
tom  Aug 20, 2023
1 answer
A
You may mount this subwoofer vertically instead of horizontally. In regard to fit for your specific vehicle, we recommend checking the available space versus the measurements of this subwoofer (9.834"W x 3.324"H x 14.5"D).

Q
In the back hatch of our 2015 Buick Enclave, there is a compact storage area under a bottom flap cover where this would fit (even two). Since it would be closed over by the cover, is there an issue with air circulation and heat?
mickf  Aug 16, 2023
1 answer
A
The Kicker 46HS10 Hideaway powered sub does need some air circulation but is also designed to be installed under seats and in rear storage areas, Michael. If the area is sealed off, that could be an issue. I am looking at the spot in question in our research file right now, and it looks like a really good spot! I have mine mounted in a trunk, and it works great. If you do decide to install dual's (creating potentially a little more heat) I would consider a small port for air flow installed cleanly in the storage area cover that flips up to reveal the install location. Our 2" model in the link below can be trimmed to fit. I hope this helps! https://www.crutchfield.com/p_07741342/Port-Tubes-2-diameter-x-2-1-2-length.html

Q
How would I connect this to a 2021 subaru crosstrex with the 6.5 in screen non rockford fosgate?
brian  Jul 11, 2023
1 answer
A
Greetings Brian, and thank you for your question. Brief answer is this just needs a left and right signal, plus power of course. So run the power cable to the battery, ground it, and tap into a left, and a right speaker, pull those wires to the input plug of the Kicker 46HS10.

Q
Will this work on 2018 tundra platinum crew max?
russ  Jun 27, 2023
1 answer
A
The Kicker 46HS10 is a universal powered subwoofer and can be installed in almost any vehicle where there is physical space and a factory radio, Russ. The Kicker needs a speaker-level signal tap for input and comes with the power and ground wiring included! We can help you get connected if you are installing yourself with our lifetime Technical Support.

Is this product water proof?
steven  Apr 07, 2023
1 answer
A
It is not, Steven. This Kicker 46HS10 is durable and rugged, but it has no additional marine rating or water resistance. If you have the space and need some protection from the elements, consider the Bazooka MBTA10100 Marine powered subwoofer in the link below! https://www.crutchfield.com/p_204MBTA10/Bazooka-MBTA10100.html

Q
Why does this require wiring for left and right stereo leads?
alexander  Apr 05, 2023
1 answer
A
This Kicker 46HS10 is extremely flexible on install with speaker-level and line-level input capability, Alex. This means the speaker-level inputs will be a stereo signal, also to support the possibility of connecting a 2-channel RCA with Kicker's 46KISL 2-channel speaker-level adapter in the link below. This would allow you to use the 46HS10 with an aftermarket radio or other line-level source. With Kicker, it is all about options! https://www.crutchfield.com/p_20646KISL/Kicker-46KISL.html

Q
How is this a 10 inch sub if the outside dimensions of the box itself is less than 10 inches?
james  Apr 01, 2023
1 answer
A
Greetings Jayaar, and thank you for your question. You have heard of the round off thing I would imagine. 9.5 inches is called 10 inch, and 9.25 inches is called 9 inches. This applies to speakers as well. If you actually measured some 6.5 inch door speakers, you would find some less than 6 inches in diameter. But they are classified as 6.5 inch speakers. Kicker classifies this as a 10 inch subwoofer.

Q
Will this fit under the rear seat of a 2008 Jeep JK?
christopher  Mar 30, 2023
1 answer
A
We do not qualify universal subwoofers like the Kicker 46HS10 in our Vehicle fit guide, Christopher. Under seat space is very tight in the Jeep, so the best move is to take accurate measurements and compare to the listed dimensions for the Kicker subwoofer listed below. This bad boy packs quite a punch for its small size, and it can fit into many tight spots. Any items that simply do not fit even after due diligence can always be returned within the first 60-days for a refund, so worries there! 9.834" Width 3.324" Height 14.5" Depth

jayzzel  Mar 25, 2023
1 answer
A
We do not qualify vehicle fit for universal subwoofers like the Kicker 46HS10, Jayzzel. We advise measuring your under-seat space carefully and comparing to the listed dimensions for the Kicker below: 9.834" Width 3.324" Height 14.5" Depth With small dimensions like that, if the Kicker doesn't fit under your seats you can easily fit in the rear cargo area. The Kicker comes with power and ground wiring, as well as mounting brackets!

Q
Im new to car audio - Im putting this into a 2014 Hyundai Elantra Sedan, what do i need to buy along with this? Like Ive seen people talking about grounding wires, connecting things to your car battery, im just wondering if all that is required or if it could be done with just connectors. I usually try to avoid messing with wires i just feel like ill mess something up. I also think I want to mount this in the trunk instead of under seat, but im not sure, any advice is good thanks!
matteo  Mar 23, 2023
1 answer
A
This subwoofer includes most of what you'll need for installation. It comes with the power wire to connect to your battery, the ground wire to connect the vehicle's chassis, and the in-line fuse holder and fuses for the power wire. It also includes a bass level knob and cable. The only thing that we would normally need in addition to these items would be a bit of speaker wire and wire connectors to tap info your factory speaker wire for signal. Our advisors are happy to discuss the project in more detail. You may reach us via online chat or phone at 1-800-324-9695.

Q
I have a Pioneer DMH-2660NEX receiver in my 2002 Toyota Tundra. Can I run two of the subs with one power cable from the battery or does each need their own power cable? Also, How can I connect 2 of these to the receiver? Is there a kit or can you tell me what I need?
bo  Mar 20, 2023
1 answer
A
You can certainly run two, Bo (excellent name by the way!). Since these Kicker 46HS10's come with the power and ground wiring included the easiest way would be to run two separate power cables from the battery. These Kickers can accept a line-level RCA input, but you need additional adapters to do so as they only have bare wire connectors. Grab two of the Kicker 46KISL's in the first link below, 2 RCA cables, and two of the Hosa RCA y-adapters in the second link below to connect to your Pioneer's subwoofer outputs and you are golden! https://www.crutchfield.com/p_20646KISL/Kicker-46KISL.html https://www.crutchfield.com/p_979YRA104/Hosa-RCA-Y-Adapter.html

I already have 4-gauge power wiring installed in my vehicle. How can I use that existing wire to power this Kicker sub with it's included 14-gauge power wire? I don't want to run a 2nd wire from the battery.
john paul  Mar 19, 2023
1 answer
A
Greetings John, and thank you for your question. If your 4 gauge wire is already being used for another amp in your vehicle, and that amp needs the 4 gauge, I would recommend running the second 14 gauge wire from this Kicker sub to the battery.

Q
I have a 2014 f250 lariat with a factory sub. Do I need to order any additional parts to make this work or is this a plug and play type system?
kennjo  Mar 14, 2023
1 answer
A
This powered sub does come with everything needed to get it installed in a factory system, however you may need some posi connectors for tapping into your stock wiring if you're connecting this to a stock radio: https://www.crutchfield.com/p_669PP611/Posi-Products-Wire-Connectors.html. If you are connecting this to an aftermarket radio you'll need this adapter which converts the speaker level input wires into RCA plug connectors: https://www.crutchfield.com/p_20646KISL/Kicker-46KISL.html. We do have some car specific interfaces for your truck if you're integrating this into your stock radio, though we would need to ask you a few more questions to make sure these work for your set up. If you'd like to check into those car specific interfaces, give us a call at 1-800-324-9695.

I have an alpine mini sub and 4 channel amp behind my seat. I'm replacing the speakers to handle 45 watts each. It already has a bass knob is it possible to install this sub behind the other seat? 2020 dual cab Tacoma non jbl
nicholas  Mar 05, 2023
1 answer
A
It is likely that this could be installed behind the other seat. However, the bass knob you currently have will not control both the Alpine sub and the Kicker sub. It would be necessary to have two bass knobs in order to have similar control over both.

Q
I have a 2022 Chevy Silverado 2500 where do I get my signal from? Do I have to hook it up to the factory head unit or splice into speaker wires?
logan  Feb 20, 2023
1 answer
A
You will need to "tap in" to the speaker-level signal somewhere for the Kicker 46HS10, Logan. If you have a factory amplified system you will want to tap in after the amplifier. If you have a non-amplified factory sound system grabbing that signal from the front L or R speakers is a great call. Q
I did not see this listed as a subwoofer that would fit a 2020 highlander. Will it fit under either front seat of this vehicle and work with the upgraded JBL system in the platinum highlander? Is there any other equipment i need to buy to make this work?
rachel  Jan 11, 2023
1 answer
A
Unfortunately, we do not have measurements of the open space under the front seats of this vehicle. The measurements for the 46HS10 are 9.834"W x 3.324"H x 14.5"D. This could be connected to your factory system, but will require additional items. Please reach out to our advisors via online chat or phone at 1-800-324-9695 for in-depth help with this project.

A
Those are not included in the instructions, Vincent. We do provide lifetime Technical Support with any purchase, and we help with that info if you need! We can identify the exact wires and location for the tap with your specific trim level Colorado, and also help you formulate the best plan for running the power wire. This Kicker 46HS10 is a personal favorite because it comes with the power and ground wiring already included!

gntutara55  Dec 01, 2022
1 answer
A
It is necessary to provide both left and right audio in this situation. Some music will have bass on one channel or the other, but not both. If you only grab left signal, then any bass on the right channel would be missed.

Q
Will this fit under the passenger seat of a 2020 4Runner?
justin  Nov 25, 2022
1 answer
A
It looks like there is little space under the front passenger seat Justin, but you may have room. We do not have any accurate measurements sadly for that location. We do have the accurate measurements on this Kicker 46HS10 sub though listed at 9.834" width x 3.324" height x 14.5" depth. We advise taking some measurements before purchase to confirm fit, but anything that won't fit you can return within your 60-day guarantee period. What I can say for certain is that these Kickers are one of my personal favorite ways to enjoy big bass in a small footprint powered sub!

Will the remote turn on activate with the speaker level inputs or do I have to run an ignition controlled wire?
rom  Nov 23, 2022
1 answer
A
This powered subwoofer can be set to turn on when it senses audio coming in on its speaker level inputs. The 12V trigger input is only required when using its preamp level input.

Is this powered from the factory radio or direct from the battery? I have a 2017 VW PAssat and looking for a bit more thump. Is it easy to connect to factory head?
ryan  Nov 13, 2022

A
Power will need to be sourced directly from the battery. Please reach out to our advisors via chat or phone at 1-800-324-9695 to discuss connection to the factory system in your Passat. We'll need more information regarding the factory sound system in order to recommend a method for connecting this subwoofer.

Will this overheat if I put it under a front seat the has a floor vent in a sedan?
wilson  Nov 06, 2022
1 answer
A
That Kicker subwoofer is designed to run in small spaces so underneath a seat should be perfectly fine to operate and not overheat. As long as it is not completely covered so that heat cannot circulate, it should keep itself cool.

We do not have precise measurements of the open space in the cabin of the 2005 Tundra double cab. For this type of product, we recommended checking the measurements with your vehicle to ensure this will fit where you would like it. The measurement for the 46HS10 is 9.834"W x 3.324"H x 14.5"D.

jeff  Oct 22, 2022

This powered subwoofer can work with Bluetooth speakers and other powered speakers that have an audio output on them. Most of those audio outputs will be full range so be sure to use the low pass filter to make sure this sub only gets bass from the speaker

Is this a plug in play replacing the factory sub in a 2014 F150 Lariat?
jason  Oct 11, 2022
1 answer
A
Greetings Jason, and thank you for your question. The Kicker 46HS10 is not plug and play for any vehicle. You will need to pull the power cable to your vehicles battery, ground it, and if you have a factory radio, tap into speaker wires to get the signal into the Kicker powered subwoofer.

is Kicker 8 or 10 better for heavy metal music?
kristie  Oct 05, 2022

While it is ultimately down to personal preference, if you want the deep impact with heavy metal and you are only going with one subwoofer than the 10" would probably be better for that genre.

Can I install two HS10 with 1 remote control (rocking remote)? I want to run two HS10 but i want to be able to control the bass with 1 rocking control and if this is possible with a Y splitter or adapter, will this affect the performance of both HS10
carlos  Oct 02, 2022

Greetings Carlos, and thank you for your question. The connection pint of the remote cable is a 3.5mm stereo jack, so I see no reason you could not use a 3.5mm splitter and control both subs with one remote. I could not find such an adapter here though.

I have a 1954 Chevy pickup that has a 6 volt system. I have 1 power booster that converts 6 volts to 12 volts for my JVC radio/CD and a USB charger port. The power booster can generate 10 amps. Is this enough to also drive the Kicker 46HS10? Or should I get another power booster for the 46HS10?
imre  Sep 24, 2022
1 answer
A
If you still have the OG 6 volt in your classic Chevy adding this Kicker could prove troublesome, Imre. This unit does need 15 amps, so IF you did end up adding another power booster you would have to make sure it can handle 15 amps or higher. Consider also the smaller Kicker HS8 in the link below, though this uses the same wiring kit and 15A fused link the unit uses a 10A fuse, and could probably be run on a second of the same type of power booster. I hope this helps! https://www.crutchfield.com/p_20611HS8/Kicker-11HS8.html

Q
Would this unit work with a retrosound head unit??
jose  Sep 01, 2022
1 answer
A
This Kicker 46HS10 would be a stellar call with Retrosound, Toby. Most likely your Retrosound radio has a preamp output (RCA) for the subwoofer. The Kicker has a speaker-level input harness only so you will just need a simple adapter like the JL Audio XD-CLRAIC2-SW 2-channel adapter and RCA cable to connect, both are in the links below! The Kicker is a favorite of mine because it comes with all the power and ground wiring needed for install, right in the box! https://www.crutchfield.com/p_136XDCLR2S/JL-Audio-XD-CLRAIC2-SW.html https://www.crutchfield.com/p_007CMER217/Crutchfield-Reference-2-Channel-RCA-Patch-Cables-17-foot.html

I have a single rca sub output on my head unit, do I need to splice the wires in to both left and right sub input or can I just do one?
alex  Aug 28, 2022
1 answer
A
If you have a single mono RCA you can use either option for good sound with the Kicker 46HS10 Hideaway sub Alex. My opinion is with this install since you will need to convert the RCA to the speaker level in harness on the Kicker adapter anyway you might as well connect both sides for a cleaner install. It will sound great either way!

does this come with a warranty? i've had my setup for about a month and a half to two month max. it was played with gain on half then slowly worked into a 3/4 gain with no bass boost. i was very satisfied with the enclosure, sucks it blew within a couple months. $400 isn't cheap for the enclosure when there was a million ways to go with a $400 setup.

Greetings Keelan, and thank you for your question. Sorry for your loss by the way. It does come with a 1 year warranty. If you bought it from Crutchfield, and its 2 months old we can send out a replacement, if its been longer than 2 months, Kicker's warranty would cover it. If you did get this from us, you will have a tech support number on your shipping confirmation email. If you lost it, call in, we can get you to tech. If you got it elsewhere, here is the Kicker support number 405-624-8583.

considering adding to 2022 santa cruz (non bose). The 2 rear speakers have ~10 watt out vs 35 watt to front components. Will this boost that low level signal (or just reproduce what is already going to the 2 rear door mids)? Thanks.
dennis  Jul 26, 2022
1 answer
A
Greetings Dennis, great question. That or any sub will not add more lower frequencies from what a factory system sends to it. Its going to play what it gets unless you add some signal processing which would eliminate factory bass roll off, and add back the low frequencies that the factory systems take out. If you want deep bass, and to eliminate that roll off, get a processor like the LC2i from Audio Control, and run that off your speaker level inputs first, then out RCA to the Kicker or which ever sub/amp you go with.

Can it run off stock stereo? And does it work with the existing controls, meaning do I have to use the base adjuster or can I just leave it out
22tundra  Apr 23, 2022
1 answer
A
Yes, it can run off stock stereo. Mine is running off the 2015 factory head unit in my 2016 Silverado. You can use your stereos controls to adjust gain but you will be limited a bit as you are adjusting the sound and output for all speakers, not just the subwoofer. There are gain controls on the side of the sub that do a good job tuning it to your preference. The bass adjuster control is handy if you want to make adjustments per song while you are driving. You can certainly leave it out if you don't feel you need that additional control.

I have the HS10 hooked up to my 2019 Jeep, but the amp power remains on after I shut off the vehicle and stays on. I ran the blue wire to the power source (cigarette lighter) and red wire to the battery. I have the factory 7" stereo. Love the sound, but worried about battery drain after I shut off. Is there a way to wire for the sub power to shut off after the vehicle is off?

I'm no Jeep expert but if you have a fuse box under the dash somewhere (fairly easy to get to) you could try running the blue wire to one side of a fuse that is 'switched'. I'm not sure but aren't most cigarette lighters 'hot' all the time or did they change that for safety reasons?

Like 2-1/2" is more like it. I got it in a 2006 tundra and it barley fits under driver side seat. You can always use washers to lift seat up to give clearance but in a car accident I'm not sure how safe that would be. This sub is over priced for what it is. I'm not happy with it. I think it's not loud enough. It gets distortion easy as higher power.

I've been pleased with mine. It's sitting on the floor underneath the rear seat of my Silverado. I have the crossover at about 100hz and the bass boost around 2.5 or so on the dial. While it doesn't pound like a box sub would, however anything that has rolling bass exhibits a rather impressive sound for such a small form factor. I would buy this again in a heartbeat. Solid build and features in such a small form factor (its heavy for its size), I've been pleased.

andrew  Sep 12, 2021

I am sure you could but remember that vibration is noise. Lack of a solid damped connection will leave the unit in a state where it could easily vibrate and drive you nuts if it is connected to anything metal. I assume you are concerned about water intrusion through holes? make the hole, pull out the screw and coat the hole with caulk, then put the screw back in and you should be good.

dan  Aug 12, 2021

Hard question to answer, but I will err on the side of "probably not to the extent you would like". These dont displace air like a proper bass cabinet. I have one of these under the front passenger seat, solidly mounted and it passes as a high power 8" enclosure. Modern 10" enclosed subs will leave this in the dust, but if you're old like me you just want some extra boom on a factory head unit....yeah it will do the job.
aaron  Aug 16, 2021
A
Yes, I believe you'll be pleasantly surprised. The speaker IMO gives a good balanced sound that completed my system well!
kristopher  Aug 13, 2021
A
I don't have exact matching experience other than to say that in general the lowest frequencies should still come through the insulation if perhaps somewhat attenuated, but this unit should have more than enough power to overcome any attenuation to maintain a satisfactory level in the cabin for normal listening levels. I was considering a "trunk" (under the deck in my SUV's hatch area) installation but instead placed it under the driver's seat where it has the maximum, well, "kick". If the 10" unit is too large for that area (mine does intrude a bit into the rear seat foot area) then consider the 8" version placed under the seat instead.
bruce e.  Aug 12, 2021
A
Im not sure about that but I installed mine behind the seat of my 2020 Tacoma and was concerned that the seat would absorb all the sound. I was surprised that the bass does certainly come through well. I am happy with the results. I would suggest placing it close to the back seat.

Will this fit under my seat? 2019 Ford mustang ecoboost base model.
michael  May 29, 2021

We did not research the space under the seat to know if this will be able to fit. The best recommendation I can make is to build a frame from cardboard or similar material that is the same size as this subwoofer and attempt to fit it under the seat.

The Kicker 47HS10 works great in my 2020 Tacoma 4Dr but I would imagine that in an open air setting you may need more air movement from the speaker. It will definitely be better than 6x9s or standard speakers but if you want booming sounds, a larger speaker with a larger cabinet will be better. Hope this helps.

A
It should, dimensions on this thing are very small-if memory serves its not even 4" deep. I have a 2020 f150 and there's minimal room behind the back seat(seat mounts to rear of cab, as the seat bottom flips up for storage) but it fits perfectly with room to spare. Cant imagine theres any less room in a 1500.

Get you a "Line OutPut Converter" LOC for short if your going to leave factory head unit in. That's what I did and it makes everything sound a lot better. You can read about what an LOC is fir and what it does on Crutchfield website

The wiring harness that comes with it is fairly easy. Take out the factory deck and splice them in. The hardest part was finding the wiring diagram for the vehicle. The setup has a nice feature that it turns on when it senses power so if the remote turn on can't be found. I wired into a 14 Nissan Pathfinder.

I fit the KickerHS8 behind the rear seats of my 2011 F150 Supercab. I cut a hole in the insulation the exact size of the speaker and mounted the sub to the rear firewall. The rear seats go back on snug, but I am very happy with the fitment. I'm considering swapping it for this HS10, and if I did, I'd put it in the exact same spot.

What would be involved in wiring this to my factory system in a 2020 f250 crew cab xlt ?
randy  Oct 09, 2020

I used the extremely accurate wiring diagrams from Crutchfield to set the wiring. The wiring kit that came with the sub plugged into everything without me having to solder much. YouTube videos showed me how to take the panels and console apart. The only hard thing to do was to thread the main power wire from the battery, through the firewall and on to the sub.

Hi Joseph. In order to best answer your question, we would like to go over your current setup in a little more detail. You may be able to accomplish this connection when using a Y-Splitter for connection, however, there may be a better solution available for you to use when wanting to connect multiple powered subwoofers in your vehicle. Please chat with an Advisor online or by phone at 1-800-324-9695. We will be happy to help.

This could work fine. But I can't say for certain without trying it. If you have the available preamps on your headunit (assuming you are doing low voltage connection and not high voltage splice in to existing factory wire) absolutely. You might be able to combine the wires and use the same preamp, but I don't know for certain. I recommend calling Crutchfield to be sure you can wire this the way you want to.
jacob  Jul 19, 2020
A
I am not an expert but here is my opinion for what it is worth. When you separate sound sources and send signals to them at light speed, the sound from each speaker will get to your ear at different times. Many higher end head units can adjust output to various stereo parts to deal with this issue. If you split the signal and send it to two places that have some distance between them you will get less clear sound due to the fact that the sound from each speaker does not get to your ear at the same time. If your head unit can handle two subwoofers or you can buy something to deal with the time differential it will work great. If not, the acoustic properties of your car will determine how good or bad it sounds because you will not be able to adjust the phase differential between the speakers.

Does this fit under the seat of a 2016 honda accord?
michael  Jun 30, 2020

A
I have the 8-inch version of this sub under the passenger seat in my 2015 Accord Sport. I believe the external overall dimensions are comparable between the two. One caveat: my passenger seat is manually adjusted, so if you have a higher trim level with a power passenger seat, then I cannot answer your question definitively. Also I had to dremel off the last approx 3/4-inch of plastic heater duct under the seat to get the Kicker in as far forward as possible. Have had no foot room complaints. It's a great fit!
eric  Mar 01, 2021

We don't have the exact dimensions of the under-seat area measured in that Accord. It does fit under the seat of many vehicles.

A
I mounted mine under the front driver seat I don't see any reason you can't mount behind the back seat other than if the seat folds down, then it might be best to mount on the trunk wall/sides or if this is a sedan, mount it under the rear deck This is clearly a good solution if you have a small space Very good bass response I wish the sub has line in inputs / RCA
roel  Jun 17, 2020

You would be best to mount this on a hard surface not necessarily the back of a seat....For the size of the unit I have been very pleased with the output I'm actually looking at buying a second one to put under my passenger seat
robert  Jun 17, 2020
A
Your seat will need a metal or hard plastic backing to bolt the box to. Or if it's just going in trunk use velcro under it and it'll stick to carpet in trunk. This subwoofer is not a bass monster fyi. Rap songs it dont sound great. Rock or county sub sounds great.

I have the smaller standard 6.5" screen in my 2020 Crosstrek. I got Kicker replacements for the cheesy cardboard speakers and spliced onto the front door speakers for the sub. It's got all the bass I would ever want.
howard  May 07, 2020
A
I didn't have to get anything else. The wire harness that came with the sub had the wires for coming off of the factory speaker wires. Depending on the vehicle and where you are mounting the sub, you might need more wire. I had to rethink where to mount it.

I am extremely pleased with the set up... I did have to purchase about 3 feet of 14 gage wire for the remote turn on line which I tied into the fuse box for a 12volt signal that tells the amplifier that the accessories are on I also purchased electrical tape and wire splicing connectors to tie in the speaker level input lines to the factory radio...Everything else comes with the package again I am extremely pleased with the sound I'm getting out of this device I installed in a 2015 Ford Explorer under the driver seat

robert  May 20, 2020

I just installed mine. I don't remember exactly, however the Hot lead seemed to be about 6 foot. The ground was a little shorter I think. The speaker wires about 6-8 feet. The blue and white turn on wire a little shorter. The remote bass wire is quite long. Probably 12 feet. I installed mine under the back seat of my VW Bus, the bass wire is all the way to the front, tucked off to one side no problem.
randall  May 20, 2020
A
It is kind of short. I am guessing 8 ft for the speaker wires,14ft for the power and 2 ft for the ground . I used the RCA connectors and it made the speaker wires a little longer. I have it under my passenger seat and I ran the speaker wires directly up my center console trim into my dash in a 2017 VW Jetta. It worked really well. It's good bass too. Since it's in my cabin it is just enough punch to cover the missing blows in my system. I have it set very high at the unit, and it rattles my mirrors when I turn the knob up all the way, amd is almost completely off when the knob is down. If you need more than 8 ft., I'd suggest getting the RCA leads. They need to be soldered or crimped.
windsor  May 20, 2020
A
Maybe 18 inches
anabel  May 20, 2020

The Quick-Connect harness has wires for power (17 feet/14-gauge), ground (2 feet/14-gauge), remote turn-on (2 feet/20-gauge), and signal input (8 feet/20-gauge). If using a speaker level input, just splice into the wire in the harness. If using a line level input, a speaker wire to RCA adapter is needed (sold separately)
