Customer Q&A

3 questions already asked

Q
Are the strands pure copper or copper coated aluminum?
[ Jeffrey  Mar 23, 2022 ]
3 answers
A
I'm not a metallurgist, but I didn't see any aluminum in the wire bundle. FWIW, i have runs as long as 30 feet, and I don't detect signal loss.

A
As far as I can tell the strands are pure copper and of high quality. I have used this in my home theater setup with flawless results. I currently use it to connect my Marantz receiver to my Klipsch Reference Premiere tower, center and bookshelf speakers used in my 5.2.4 surround sound setup.
[ Jose  Mar 24, 2022 ]
A
The wire is pure copper; I remember examining the strands when cutting it. (I'm also a certified data and audio cabling technician.) I had the same concerns about the wire after encountering a spool of copper clad aluminum. I used the Crutchfield wire for my home stereo unit, and I am delighted with the results.

Q
How many strands are there?
[ Kenneth  Sep 30, 2019 ]

A
I would be guessing. Maybe 20-30?
[ KARL L  Mar 24, 2022 ]
A
Unfortunately, that spec isn't provided. It is Oxygen free copper, 14 gauge. We do not have a strand count on the wire.

A
It's 14 gauge wire. I honestly don't know how many "strands" there are. An electrician would be more qualified and have that answer for you.

Q
How do I know which is the positive and the negatives side? One side indicates Crutchfield 14AWG X 2 High Performance Speaker Cable
[ Laura  Feb 11, 2020 ]

A
I use the side with the writing on it as the positive side. Just make sure you connect that side to the red terminal on you speaker and the red terminal on the amplifier/receiver.
[ LELAND PAUL  Feb 11, 2020 ]
A
It doesn't matter which side you use for the positive or negative. Just make sure you use the same side at the speakers that you used at the amplifier.
[ ALDO  Feb 11, 2020 ]
A
Best to Ohm it but there is a differentiation in the wire insulation.
[ Nicholas  Feb 11, 2020 ]
A
The wire I purchased. one side has a black stripe that runs the length of the wire. I used the black strip for the ground. The black stripe to the black posts thru out the connection setup.
[ Todd  Feb 11, 2020 ]
A
It's printed on the wire but is very hard to read. Use either a magnifying glass or your cell phone's flashlight.
[ Joyce  Feb 11, 2020 ]
A
There's a mark on the jacket of one of the wires so you can identify them...
