About the Bose® Noise-masking Sleepbuds II
A new approach to better sleep, from Bose
The Bose noise-masking sleepbuds II have been redesigned to fit more comfortably and better drown out noises.
A new approach to better sleep, from Bose
Light sleeper like I am? The Bose noise-masking sleepbuds II can drown out loud disruptions with peaceful sounds. These comfortable, truly wireless in-ears deliver soothing, noise-neutralizing sounds while you rest or sleep. And Bose completely redesigned this second generation based on user feedback from the originals — resulting in better comfort and performance.
How the sleepbuds work
Tiny, specially designed noise filters are the first line of defense against nighttime racket. Next, a built-in memory chip delivers a preloaded selection of sounds that are engineered to drown out the remaining noise. These gentle sounds are designed to fade from your attention as you doze off.
Bose includes a better battery
The chief complaint with the original Bose sleepbuds was the battery. Specifically, that it wouldn't hold a charge very well. So inside each earbud, there's a tried-and-true rechargeable nickel metal hydride (NiMH) battery like the ones used in hearing aids. Bose says they offer about 10 hours of use on a single charge.
When they need more juice, just snap the earbuds into the included charging case. This small case itself packs enough power to fully recharge the sleepbuds three times when you're on the go.
Choose and control everything from your phone with the free Bose Sleep app.
Small, lightweight and friction-free
If you're keeping something in your ear overnight, you want it to be as small and unobtrusive as possible. The Bose engineers were extremely conscious of this — so this is one of the smallest products they've ever made. They've also used comfortable materials that cause less friction, since users of the original sleepbuds reported noise when the earbuds rubbed their pillows.
The redesigned silicone ear tips feel extra-soft and avoid unpleasant pressure points. Plus they have stability wings to keep them in place if you move around in your sleep.
Full control with an app on your phone
You can pick which soothing sound you'd like to hear by downloading the Bose Sleep app to your Apple® or Android™ device. There are three categories to choose from: the sounds designed for noise-masking, sounds designed for relaxation, and nature sounds.
The app also lets you control the volume, and how much external sound you want to allow through. Bose claims that most bedroom noise can be rendered completely inaudible depending on what you select. You can also control how long you want the sound to play, and even set a wake-up alarm — all through the app.

Features
Overview: The Bose Sleepbuds™ II are unique, noise-masking true-wireless earbuds that are designed to emit soothing sounds that help you go to sleep and stay asleep. The Sleepbuds™ II are smaller than other true wireless earbuds, making them comfortable even for side-sleepers. Each lightweight sleepbud weighs only 0.08 ounces. Using the exclusive Bose Sleep app on your smartphone or tablet, you can choose which soothing sounds you want to hear, control the volume, and set a wake-up alarm. The Bose noise-masking Sleepbuds™ II include 3 pairs of specially-designed sleep eartips, an aluminum charging case, and a USB-C charging cable.
Batteries: The tiny Sleepbuds™ II contain rechargeable Nickel-Metal Hydride (Ni-MH) batteries, compared to the silver-zinc batteries in the original Bose noise-masking sleepbuds. Ni-MH batteries, which have been around for 30+ years, have a reliable battery life of up to 10 hours on a full charge, enough for a full night's sleep. When you're not using the sleepbuds, they should be returned to the included charging case. The Sleepbuds II charge in the charging case in approximately 6 hours. The charging case has its own built-in Lithium-ion rechargeable battery that will charge the Sleepbuds II up to 3 additional times, for a total of 40 hours. The case, without the sleepbuds, charges in approximately 3 hours when connected to a USB power source. You can view the battery level of the sleepbuds on the Bose Sleep app while in use, or in the charging case. A 5-segment LED charge level meter for the case can be found behind the sliding lid.
Ear Tips: The Bose Sleepbuds™ II come with three pairs (1-small, 2-medium, 3-large) of specially designed silicone ear tips. The ear tips' umbrella shape spreads contact evenly within your ear canal to create a good seal, and provide a good measure of passive sound reduction. The flexible fin conforms naturally to the shape of the upper ridge of your ear to hold them into place so they don't fall out during the night.
Bluetooth 5.0: The true wireless Sleepbuds™ II connect to your smartphone or tablet via Bluetooth (version 5.0). Your device must support Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE). The sleepbuds turn themselves on when you open the charging case. You can easily pair them (and disconnect them) with your smartphone or tablet using the Bose Sleep app. The Bluetooth wireless range is approximately 30 feet.
Bose Sleep App: The Bose Sleep app is essential to the proper use of the Sleepbuds™ II. There are no user controls on the sleepbuds, so all of the controls are contained in the app. The app lets you choose from 40 pre-loaded sounds, some designed to mask ambient noise (traffic, barking dogs, snoring partner), while others help you relax and fall asleep, such as Naturescapes and Tranquilities. The Bose Sleepbuds II will not stream music, and you cannot add your own sounds. The app lets you customize your personal sleep settings for the best experience, including volume levels, usage timers, and wake-up alarms that only you can hear, so you won't disturb your partner. A Phone-Free mode lets you use your Sleepbuds II while your phone is off or in another room. The app helps keep your Sleepbuds II up to date with software updates when they become available. The Bose Sleep app is compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch with iOS (11.0 or later) and Android devices (6.0 and up).
Bose Sleep Study: In November 2019, a Bose-sponsored sleep study was conducted with the original Noise-masking sleepbuds. Bose sleep technology was clinically proven to help participants fall asleep faster (86%) and stay asleep (76%). The study concluded the noise-masking technology of the Sleepbuds was quite effective in blocking sounds, such as snoring or street noise.
