Bring on the power

Infinity uses an edge-driven tweeter design and a large voice coil to help this tweeter handle up to 45 watts RMS. The package includes in-line crossovers that protect the tweeters against lower frequencies, along with adapters that allow for surface- or flush-mounting, so that installation's a lot easier. You can use the included Starfish mounts to place the tweeters in many existing tweeter openings.

Installation note: You may need a pair of our universal backstraps to install these tweeters in the factory locations.

Tweeters

Material: Each tweeter features a 3/4" edge-driven textile dome for smooth, accurate highs.

Mounting: The I-Mount tweeter mounting system and Starfish mounting brackets give you several different ways to mount the tweeters:

  • I-Mount: The tweeters can be surface- or flush-mounted with Infinity's innovative I-Mount system:
    • Surface Mount: Surface mounting the tweeters involves screwing the surface-mount cup to the mounting location, then inserting and locking the tweeter into the cup.
    • Flush Mount: Flush mounting is made easy through the use of the threaded flush-mount housing and plastic locking nut. Once a cutout is made, the tweeter is installed in the flush-mount adapter, then into the flush mount housing and inserted into the hole. The large plastic locking nut is threaded onto the adapter (from behind the mounting surface) to hold the complete assembly securely in place. When flush mounted, the tweeters may be angled for optimum response and imaging.
  • Starfish Mounting Brackets: The Starfish mounting brackets allow the tweeters to be installed in factory locations behind the grilles:
    • Bottom Mount: Once the Starfish bracket is trimmed, it is secured to the underside of the grille panel. The tweeter must be inserted into the bracket and locked into place before the bracket is mounted.
    • Surface Mount: Once the Starfish bracket is trimmed, it is screwed to the top of the mounting surface behind the grille panel. Then, the tweeter is inserted into the bracket and locked into place.
    • Flush Mount: There are two sets of tabs to flush mount the tweeter in the Starfish bracket, yielding different mounting dimensions. The upper tabs mount the tweeter completely below the opening and are glued in place. The lower mounting tabs are screwed in place and result in a mounting height just under a half inch. Once the bracket is mounted, the tweeter is inserted into the bracket and locked into place.

Crossovers

Crossover Connections: Each crossover has 24" input leads and 33" output leads. The output leads are terminated with female quick-slides (that mate to the male quick-slides on the wire attached to the tweeters) and the input leads have bare wire.

  • Length: 2-3/4"
  • Width: 7/8"

Q
I have a 1954 Chevy pickup truck in which I installed a JVC KD-T925BTS stereo with 2 Infinity Reference 6532EX EZFit 6.5" Shallow Mount 165 Watts Peak Coaxial Speakers. I was thinking of getting 2 tweeters ... but my speakers have built in tweeters. Would I be wasting my money getting tweeters in addition to the built in tweeters. Similarly If I get a separate woofer would that make sense ? My car is fairly noisy so I am not expecting premium sound quality (but I do want it to sound good). So I'm not sure if 2 tweeters and a woofer would be that noticeable of an improvement ?

not sure but if the tweeters are up a little higher u tend to hear the his better and a little bass never hurts but for sure best money spent is on sound deadening in floor and doors make it quieter in cab better sound from system

If you custom place the tweeters closer to you, it will be worth it, otherwise no.

Compared to factory, Bose What a difference, well worth their cost Make sure they are mounted high on doors or pillar If you have a amp so u can adjust between woofer and tweeters My pickup had a added amp and subs in boxes under rear seat Upgraded from factory speakers, but all were low on doors did not provide good sound without to high of volume So I removed amp, installed two sets of tweeters One in pillars and one set high on rear doors Much better at lower volume IMO

Q
If I replace my dash 3.5" coaxial on a KIA Optima 2016 with Harman Kardon OEM with this tweeter, will losing that little bit of midrange from the dash ruin the sound? Or Will the rest of the speakers in the car be able to fill that part in and I can just benefit from the improvement of the tweeter?

A
Replacing that speaker with a tweeter could have a negative effect on sound quality. Our advisors would be happy to help with selecting a more appropriate option for this replacement. Please give us a call at 1-800-324-9695.

Q
Will you need to use a wiring adapter to connect these to the factory wiring (replacing a factory tweeter) or will these connect right to the existing wiring?

I did not have to, simply disconnected the original tweeters and attached the two wires with solder to these which brightened up the entire sound. You could use connectors if you want to as well...easy install

Installed in Ford Fusion with Sony 12 speaker system, I don't notice much of a difference from stock, mainly with volume. Should I have not used the included crossover?

Q
When adding Ref 375 tweeters (3 ohm) to an existing Infinity Kappa 90csw component system (2.5ohm) driven off an infinity K2 amp (min 2 ohm), how should I wire the 375's, in series with the existing tweeters, after the crossover or directly to the amp, in series with the existing system before the crossover?
dandan  Mar 28, 2019
1 answer
A
That's a great question Daniel. I would think you want to wire them after the crossover as you don't need them to see a full-range signal. If you purchased them from Crutchfield our Tech Support can walk you through the installation. You can reach them here: https://bit.ly/2QNxGQB
