One thing's for sure — our customers love Infinity's Reference Series speakers. Year after year, car after car, options like these Reference Series REF-9632ix 6"x9" car speakers remain a popular choice for replacing factory speakers because of their competitive pricing and superb sound.

Enhanced highs

Step up to a 1" edge-driven dome tweeter for smoother highs with minimal breakup. Plus, push-button tweeter attenuation gives you a "brightness" quick fix.

Plus One+ woofer cone

The Reference Series polypropylene woofer with its durable hi-roll rubber surround ensures you'll enjoy powerful sound every mile you drive. Its oversized cone moves more air than other speakers of similar size, adding plenty of punch to the speaker's impressive performance.

Excellent power-handling

These speakers will really blossom when powered by an external amplifier, but they're also sensitive enough to be a good match for a factory or aftermarket stereo. Plus, Infinity comes up with a safe way to get a little more power out of your system — these 3-ohm speakers combine with the speaker wire in your car so your car stereo sees actual 4-ohm impedance.

Product Research

Features

Plus One+ Woofer Cones: Each speaker uses a cone larger than other speakers of the same size. This is accomplished by using a unique basket design and hi-roll surround. The Plus One+ design offers greater bass output and an increase in efficiency.

Angled Tweeter: The tweeters are mounted at an angle (fixed), so they can be directed toward the listeners to improve imaging.

Tweeter Level Control: A switch on the front of the tweeter allows you to boost the tweeter output to +3dB, useful if the speakers are mounted low in a door where high frequencies are easily absorbed.

High-Output Design: The 3Ω voice coil design compensates for the high in-line resistance of small gauge factory wiring, extracting more power from factory (or aftermarket) receivers.

Customer Q&A

Q
It says that these don't fit a Jeep Patriot 2009, but they are 6x9 inch (which is correct size) and I think I have seen them in another Patriot, also from 2009. Do they REALLY not fit or is the "advisor-thing" wrong?
john112  Nov 23, 2023
1 answer
A
Based on our research and measurements of the 2009 Patriot, it appears that the available space for the diameter of the magnet is 3.411" whereas these speakers have a magnet diameter of 3.552". However, it is possible that the speakers may fit (perhaps with a bit of extra effort) despite our database stating otherwise. Should you choose to order the speakers, we do have a 60-day return policy in the case that they do not fit. Unfortunately, speaker fit can be surprisingly complex. For this reason, we err on the side of caution with our recommendations.

Q
Will these 3 ohm speakers work with an amp that handles 4 ohm speakers? Thanks, Rob Mar 6, 2023.
robert  Mar 07, 2023
1 answer
A
Greetings Robert, and thank you for your question. If your amplifier is only rated for a 4 ohm minimum load, I would recommend looking at 4 ohm speakers. Most aftermarket amplifiers can run at 2 ohms or 4. If your amplifier is an aftermarket, it will run at 3 ohms as well.

Q
Do you need a amp to power these speakers? or can i just hook them up with stock equipment in the car?

A
I have these in my 2015 Silverado hooked up to stock radio, night and day difference versus stock speakers. You can also hook them up to an amplifier to get the best performance sound wise from them.

A
They work great with my 2016 Subaru Legacy factory radio. It really made a difference.
robert  Dec 12, 2020
A
I have them hooked up to a stock deck and they sound great. They could handle a little more power but sound great! I couldn't be more pleased with them!
greg  Dec 11, 2020
A
I replaced all of the stock speakers and added an under seat amplified sub and it sounds great to me. Hope this helps.
harvey  Dec 11, 2020
A
No amp is needed, I currently have them installed in my car with the stock equipment.

No, they are at a fixed angle. You can mount the speaker 2 different directions to get the angle to face more your direction.
logan  Jun 03, 2020
A
No, they do not.
keith  Jun 02, 2020

Q
Do the grills affect sound at all or just for aesthetics? Would there be any issues if installed without them? Truck has factory grills.
hayden  Jun 20, 2019

A
Nop not at all they sound great
jose  Jun 21, 2019
A
The grilles are going to be for aesthetics and cone protection. I've got them installed in my truck without the grilles, and they sound just fine.
daniel  Jun 20, 2019

Hayde I replaced all the speakers in my 2015 challenger with Infinity reference speakers. They soun great. I believe the grills do not affect sound quality at all. I used the stock grills not the ones that came with the speakers. On another note I also replaced all the speakers on my 2018 Ram 1500. I also used the stock grills. I did not notice any problems with the grills. Tom

I didn't do a comparison but I really think it shouldn't. I will tell you that they scream loud. I already swapped them out for Alpines. Much happier!
ira  Jun 20, 2019

Hey Hayden. I installed a pair of these in my 2017 F150 without using the grills that came with them. I can't imagine they have anything to do with the sound, though I'm no expert. I can say that they sound excellent with the Alpine 85x4 amp I got from Crutchfield.
michael  Jun 20, 2019
A
No issue if you just use the factory grills.
peter  Jun 20, 2019
A
I have installed these in two of my cars and used the factory grills from my vehicles in both. There is no issues in not using the included grills or plastic grill retainer piece.
