Features

External Wired Microphone: This external wired microphone can be connected to aftermarket head units with built-in Bluetooth that feature a mono 3.5mm microphone input. The external wired microphone provides better performance in noisy environments than the integrated microphone found on the front-panel of some Bluetooth-enabled head units.

10' Cable with 3.5mm Connector: The external wired microphone features an attached 10' cord terminated by a right-angle male mono-minijack (3.5mm) connector which plugs into the microphone input on the rear-chassis of your compatible aftermarket head unit.

  • Your aftermarket head unit must be equipped with a mono-minijack (3.5mm) mic input to use this external wired microphone.
  • Aftermarket head units featuring this type of connection include Kenwood, JVC, Alpine, Clarion, Dual/Axxera, Jensen, and Sony.
  • This external wired microphone is not compatible with aftermarke Pioneer head units which use a 2.5mm microphone input and other aftermarket head units with a stereo 3.5mm mic input.

Mounting Bracket: The external wired microphone comes with a pre-installed bracket that can clip to your sunvisor or headliner; as well as adhere to your dash, steering column or driver-side pillar. The bracket allows the microphone to swivel left or right, and tilt up or down.

It worked on mine and it's an Alpine.

It should work with any stereo that has a mic plug in on the back of it. It's the same jack as a headphone jack and should be labeled "mic" on the back of the stereo. Hope that helps!??

Q
What are the little side vent holes for? I have tried searching to see if I can hide the vent holes behind the dash leaving only the front part showing. Suggestions?

They're just to allow it to pick up sound better from the sides. If you wanted to mount it flush you could, but you might have to talk directly at the mic for it to pick up your voice properly if you do.

I have no idea what they are for, but I would suggest testing what you attempting to do before drilling your dash. Maybe tape them off to see if it affects the sound quality.

How well will this work in a jeep wrangler? Is this omnidirectional?

Yes, it is.

Honestly I don't love this microphone. People always say they can only hear my car and I have to basically yell so that people can hear me. I bet it works as it does with any car although the jeep is a bigger car so you might have to be louder than I am and no it is not omnidirectional.

Yes it's on a ball swivel so it turns in all directions. And you can clip it on or it has double sided tape to stick it.

Does it work with my kenwood dc505 ibt?

A
That model number matches a Dual receiver that does not have an input to connect an external microphone. It can only use the microphone that is built into the faceplate.
