Q
What screws work best with these brackets to attach the speaker to the bracket? No screws came with the 6x9 brackets I ordered but did come with the 6 1/2 ones.

I used the factory ones that came with my tacoma. They look like wood screws. It worked fine unless your car used rivets then you'll need to use nut inserts or find a way to secure it

Q
Why do you have the Metra 82-8146 as "does not fit" on a 2005 Lexus GX470 w/ Nav.... on the lower front door?? I know they do fit for a fact. The Metra website says they do and I also have them installed on my gx470 w/ ML & Nav.... just thought you should know.

I don't recall speaking on a Lexus at all. I have a 2016 double cab Tacoma the front speaker adapters I used for my kicker cs series 6x9's did not fit to where all 4 screws fit in the premade holes and had to screw 2 of them into the adapter instead of the premade holes. Never owned a Lexus nor have I done stereo work on one.

There must be confusion: I purchased the metras for a 2016 Tacoma and they fit perfectly. I'm not sure why there is a statement about the fit. If you order from Crutchfield everything fits as they do their homework. Lol hope this helps

Q
Would this work in my 2012 Toyota Tacoma?
skyler  Jun 28, 2018

A
I did use these in my 2011 Tacoma they do work, however I had to do a little trimming to get the panels to fit. Nothing major just take your time when putting the panels that cover your speakers if they do not pop right in then trim your brackets.

Q
I know it fits for 6x9 speakers but what is the actual size from end to end? I'm looking for an adapter for Toyota Sienna 2017 front door. 2017 Toyota Sienna front door speaker hole is measured at 8inches in height and 9.5 inches long.

The Metra 82-8146 brackets are recommended for installing aftermarket 6x9" speakers in the front doors of your Sienna. They will be provided, free of charge, with your purchase of any recommended 6x9" speakers for the location. Q
How much top mounting depth does this provide?
justin  Jan 03, 2015

A
If I remember correctly, it was about 3/4".
stephen  Jan 05, 2015
A
I did not measure the depth but I had plenty of room to install JBL 6X9 in a 2012 Prius V.
timothy  Jan 05, 2015
A
These would not it my 2005 Toyota Tacoma, had to use the original ones that came with the truck.
peter  Jan 05, 2015
A
I don't have that measurement. It was barely enough for a JBL speaker in a Forrester.
steven  Jan 05, 2015
A
I was able to mount alpines ape-6090 speakers with these and those are pretty big 6x9s. Soooo you should be fine
shawn  Jan 05, 2015

Q
can this be used for the rear speakers?
luis  Jul 06, 2014
3 answers
A
These are used for 6x9's and the rear doors will take up to a 6.5" only. The 142SAT6 will work for the rear doors with 5 1/4 or 6 1/2 speakers
joshua  Jul 08, 2014
A
They can't I tried matching them with the rear brackets and they don't fit. Try getting the all purpose mounting or do what I did and get a pair of 6x9 boxes and mount your rears in there. The benefit of that it gets rid of the rattle from the rear deck.
shawn  Jul 08, 2014
A
We used these brackets in a Toyota 4Runner, where the front speakers were 6x9. The rear speakers in the Toyota 4Runner are 6.5" speakers, not the same as the front and may require different brackets. Crutchfield advisors should be able to help - for free!
