It does the job. Not many alternatives
Clinton from Rock Port, MO on 9/26/2022
2008 Honda Fit Sport
This is my first experience with any aftermarket dash kits and all I can say is that it's "ok". The color matches great, but the fit and finish leaves a lot to be desired. There is a considerable gap in a couple of spots. No one is going to know they are there but me, but they bug me anyway. The sticker on the temp control knob isn't stuck down well and looks like it might pop off. The brackets feel cheap and the radio does not feel completely secure in the harness. Additionally, the airbag sensor would not seat properly in it's spot without some light filing of the plastic on the harness. All that being said, the assembly was easy enough and the instructions were clear. Considering the discount Crutchfield gives with the purchase of a receiver, it's almost worth the money.
Pros: Easy assembly with good instructions.
Cons: Fit and finish are lacking. Does not line up on all sides with the dash and the decals are poorly attached. Brackets feel cheap.

Good, could be great
K from Chapel Hill, NC on 6/13/2022

Looks good, and great value in the bundle, but the way the plastic mounting brackets attach to the faceplate didn't give me much confidence when installing a double DIN stereo. They didn't feel nearly as tight/solid as the factory metal brackets, and you have to be careful with your screw tightness and/or use washers (not included) because the holes in the plastic mounting plates are so close together. I was able to modify the original metal plates to fit instead.

Fitment and quality control need improvement.
Rusty from Evans, CO on 11/5/2021
2008 Honda Fit Sport
Poor fit and quality control issues. My issues were fixable, but shouldn't have been necessary. There were two scratches on the single din faceplate, upon removing it from the packaging. The faceplate was also badly warped at the bottom (like it had been exposed to heat) and would not fit flush with the storage bin. I used double sided tape to hold it in place and hopefully it will straighten out in the summer. The unit is not properly cut to properly seat and lock the climate/passenger airbag modules in place. I used a razor blade to remove material from the back, in order for the modules to lock in place. Doesn't include the retaining clips or screws needed for the mounting bracket. The retaining clips should be included as they are easily lost when removing the original unit. I got the kit at a discounted rate with a receiver purchase, so I got a good discount. Even with the discount, I'm not happy with the unit, but not worth returning. Had a I paid the full price...I probably would have returned it and looked for an alternative.
Pros: Acceptable if purchased at a discounted rate, with a receiver.

This kit looks good and matches well as far as the car goes, but none of the brackets seemed a good fit for my needs. So I used the existing ones from my Honda, which were much sturdier - but then the stereo fit too high, leaving a quarter-inch gap below it. Just a little off.

Fitting issues on brackets and face alignment
Crutchfield customer from Mckinney, TX on 12/28/2020
2008 Honda Fit Sport
Would earn 4-5 stars from me if I installed a single DIN radio. Here's the 2 main issues when installing a double din stereo in my '08 Honda Fit Sport: 1. DDIN brackets: the brackets to mount to the stereo arent beveled for the screws to seat and reach the stereo. I had to buy longer screws at a hardware store. The small backets for the single din install do have beveled seating for the screws. see pic attached. Metra needs to do the same for the double din brackets. 2. Radio face alignment: once mounted the radio does not sit flush with the outer edges of the dash kit. It protrudes at the top and is therefore recessed at the bottom. see pic attached.
Pros: Easy to install. Color matching to stock.
Cons: DDIN brackets not beveled to fit the screw heads. mounting angle for the radio in the dash kit.

The dash kit is not true Double DIN. The main opening is fine but the included trim piece's opening 173mm x 98mm. The standard is 180mm x 100mm. This makes the trim piece useless unless the radio being installed is undersized. This means that I cannot use this trim piece and will have a less than perfect fit and finish when I am done.

Good fit and very close color match to the original. The biggest issue I had with this kit was that it didn't line up 100% like the original. Looks great, difficult uninstall/prep
Dale from Chattanooga, TN on 4/15/2017
2008 Honda Fit Sport
2008 Honda Fit Sport. Installed with double DIN unit. It looks good and everything's snug. The install was easy but uninstalling the original was not. The hard part was removing the A/C controls from the back of the panel: this required removing 6 large phillips-head screws screwed in very tightly and because the control cables are still attached when you do this (disconnecting the control cables is not in the instructions and I can see why-it's not clear how you'd do it without damaging them), you have limited access to them, even with a stubby driver (which is recommended). In fact, for the last screw I cut its plastic mount out of the old panel with tin shears because I was starting to strip the screw head. If I had to do it over I might buy a "close-quarters" ratcheting screwdriver. Also, the final trim faceplate is so tight the snaps won't catch, but I just cut them off and it works fine.
Pros: Looks good, fits good.
Cons: Difficult removal of old unit, which you really have to get right for the new install to work.

I think this works great! I haven't done an aftermarket sound system for a car for quite a long time, but this was ok. The fit and finish is pretty good. I think that someone that didn't know would think it was factory. Looks factory to me! The directions were ok. This part matches the finish of the dash, and would look great if it would actually sit flush against the dash. Maybe I didn't gt the pressure clips just right, but then again that's just another defect. Are we really so cheap we can't include them already on the part (or at least put instructions for them)
Pros: It looks just like the original except with a spot for an aftermarket radio.
Cons: It doesn't actually fit flush so it looks cheap.

JB from MN on 1/1/2016

This is a cool design, and the ability to use single or double-din stereos is a nice feature. The face quality is lacking. Around the temperature control, there's a sliver of white light that leaks through. It just doesn't look as nice as the factory plate. The airbag light wouldn't click into place, because it's sleeve was a little too deep. I had to sand off .5 mm to get the airbag light to stay in place.

Pros: Matches almost exactly
Cons: Plastic is a little brittle, accidentally snapped off a screw mount The opening is just (1/16") too small for the double din radio, so I had to really force the deck in the opening The trip piece would not go exactly flush due to the deck not seating in the opening well.

Fits better than I expected after reading reviews here and on amazon but it looks great. There's two screws the help hold the factory one in place that can't be put back in with this however because the brackets that they screw into can't be reattached but there's still one screw and clip that hold the new one on which secures it well enough
Pros: sits flush and looks good if installed right
Cons: not as secure as factory but works

Original kit arrived with a broken plastic stub for a mounting screw; Crutchfield customer service was great and sent me a new one in 2 days. It worked well and installation was fairly smooth with a double DIN chassis. Only thing was two mounting screws for the A/C controls couldn't be installed as there was no support bracket for them (they installed sideways into factory metal brackets from OEM stereo; no such provision on new faceplate.)
Pros: Decent fit, color and control markings match OEM one.
Cons: Lacked mounting for 2 A/C mounting screws that went in sideways

Pros: Fits and is easy to install. No mod needed to make it fit.
Cons: Poor quality as far as the illumination goes. Most of the dials light up good in the center but are dark on the side like all the way to cold and all the way to hot.Either ends are were the problem is not the center so it is most likely that you might miss it do to the fact that we usually focus on the center mostly.

Honest review
Joe from California on 9/17/2014
2007 Honda Fit
The color match's really well, but the fit is pretty bad. Gap on rounded edge of dash. Also does not seem to sit deep enough to attach to the climate control housing. This may be causing the rattling noise. I found this dash does a poor job of supporting the head unit. Bought replacement factory clips to replace the existing ones after wrenching my dash out in hopes it will provide a more secure fit. I will also try the "other" brand as I believe the fit issues stem from a poor design.
Pros: Matching color.
Cons: Poor fit, should provide replacement clips rather then relying on the existing clips (which are almost impossible to damage when removing your dash, unless your some kind of car stereo ninja).

Functional
gower from Vine Grove, KY on 9/13/2014
2008 Honda Fit
This dash kit was for my Honda Fit, 2008. The kit adequately held my new head unit and looks as though it was made for the car, so I am happy with it. However, the fit of the kit isn't 100% perfect. It snaps into the dash not quite flush at the top right corner. It is possible this is because the place the snaps go into (in the dash itself) have worn from being unsnapped more than once, but I am uncertain. It LOOKS like the new dash kit is a millimeter or two from fitting perfectly. Also, the two side plastic pieces that hold the head unit in place by snapping into the dash kit do so (snap, that is) with less certainty than I'd like. What I mean is, when you snap the side pieces into the kit, it seems as though they're barely holding in place. I was really afraid that the head unit would come away from the face of the dash kit after a few bumps. Also, the instructions weren't absolutely correct for installation into my 2008 Honda Fit. There's a mention of a knee panel to be removed which doesn't exist (there's one on the driver's side, but it's not necessary to remove) and I was instructed to remove the glove box, which is not necessary either (it can simply be lowered by pressing in on the back corners of the inside of the box). Now, I don't want to sound too negative. The dash kit is unique and despite it's shortcomings, it looks good and does the job nicely. As a final note, the kit should come with a few extra clips that snap the kit into the dash.
Pros: Looks good and does the job.
Cons: Doesn't quite fit perfectly, but close enough. Side plastic pieces don't seem as sturdy as I'd like. Instructions aren't quite right (watch a video online of someone doing this job before doing it yourself). Should come with at least two metal clips that are easily lost when removing and installing dash kit. I managed to find the ones that came out and flew away, but I could have easily lost them. A couple extra clips would have eased my mind. I'd pay a buck or two more to have 'em.

Dann from Tampa, FL on 5/5/2014
2008 Honda Fit
I wish I could attach a picture. I had it professionally installed because the reviews were terrible enough I thought maybe it could be bad installs. Color is not correct, whatever font they use is horrid. It's not even mildly flush with the dash.
Pros: I can put in double DIN or single.
Cons: I can slide quarters into my dashboard when I feel like it.

Not bad, not great

I fits the opening just fine, looks factory as well. Getting the factory radio out is very hard to do with out scratching the dash. Also make sure you remove ALL the plugs for the fans and lights, and reuse the OEM metal brackets. It really makes your new head unit hold more solid. My does not hold my airbag light or ac/defroster lights. They are in there, but I would not be surprised if one day they just slide out. cooling and heat knob colors are a bit lighter but nothing to make you take a second look.
Pros: looks like factory when installed.
Cons: Button and airbag lights do not hold very well in mine. Should tell you to use the factory metal plates.

Easy to install and looks good. I like the extra shelf under the unt.
Pros: Looks like the Factory face plate. All the mounting points line up perfectly.
Cons: Unit sits too far back, but I think you could move the radio forward in the mount if you put some thought into it.

Good, but be careful.

This works well, but be aware that you probably want to keep and use the OEM metal brackets. I bought a Sony radio that's in DIN format. Just using the metal tabs around the edges of the hole where the radio goes would leave it pretty flappy. I ended up using the OEM metal brackets that held the non-DIN Honda radio, and two screws that came with the Sony radio so that it's held by both the metal tabs around the front hole and the metal brackets and it's in there pretty solidly.
Pros: Fits pretty well.
Cons: Can be difficult to get OEM panel off without scratching dash. You really need to use the OEM metal brackets to hold the radio or it can flop around.

It looks flush but it rattles after a year. I bought two and both rattled. I'm giving up.

The only Reasonable option
Gordon from Irvine, CA on 11/18/2008

The kit works and looks decent. It is highly recommended that you get a tool to remove the original faceplate. **Please please please take care when pulling off the original faceplate. Many Fit owners, including myself, have broken the fan switch, because the Crutchfield instructions DO NOT warn you that the cable for the fan switch is extremely short, and when you manage to get the whole faceplate loose, if you just angle it or pull it a little, you will break your fan swich ~$30 part.** Everything else seems to be working just fine. Fitment is what you'd expect - not perfect and color match is not perfect, but it does work and for the price i'm not going to complain.

Only/Worst Option
Robert from Walnut, CA on 10/23/2008

Unfortunately for Honda Fit owners there are few options for aftermarket deck kits. This kits poor construction results in an insecure deck (sagging, loose, and rattling). I worry that a pothole will someday send my deck flying to the floor, lacking any serious support. This kit alone has taken all the excitement away from getting a new deck and left me with a feeling of regret, only to be reminded that there is no other option. I give it three stars only because there is no other option...

PERFECT FIT (NO PUN)

So I decided to take my time and upgrade my Audio system First it was the radio I went with Alpine CDA-9884 so I had to buy the kit Obviously. After about 10 minutes of reading the installation drawings and looking everything over the install went great fits perfectly only problem I had was making sure my radio was set out enough to operate the CD deck. But it works like a champ.

Honda Fit kit :)
Donald from Pagosa Springs, CO on 8/28/2008
The kit provided everything needed for an easy installation. It took me all of one hour to complete the task, which was mostly wiring. The only negative had nothing to do with this kit but involved the antenna adapter. The "extra" wire on the adapter must go to the switched power (ignition switch). This is the power connector to the antenna amplifier. If not connected, you'll get lousy reception at best. I say this because there's no instructions with the adapter. The dash mounting components are an absolutely perfect color match and looks great in my little Fit.
