Customer Q&A

Q
How does the gasketing tape affect bass?

A
My factory speaker had a rattle on the bass prior to replacement, so it is a little hard to tell comparing it to a new speaker that works well. That said, it was very easy to install the tape and I can tell that it provides a buffer between the speaker suspension and my truck's door wall, which will keep it from having loose space that might otherwise rattle a bit with heavy bass. With the tape these speakers work great, so I recommend following the Crutchfield instructions to put them on there.

It does not affect the bass. It keeps the speaker from rattling due to the bass. It absorbs the energy between the speaker and the mounting surface.

I used these speakers (4X6) in the "B" pillar of my pickup, bass wasn't desired. The speaker's job for me in this case was simply rear fill to help bring the image up and back a little from the lower door (6-1/4) front speaker. Honestly I didn't use the gasket material.
