2-DIN Chassis: The Pioneer AVH-P4200DVD has a 2-DIN chassis \r\n(also known as "Double DIN" or size DD), and will fit in many vehicles with a \r\nlarge dash opening. The unit can be ISO-mounted using factory brackets.

6.95" Motorized LCD Touch Screen Display: The AVH-P4200DVD features a \r\n6.95" TFT Active Matrix, 16:9 wide screen touch-screen display. The resolution \r\nof the display is 1440 x 240 for a total of 345,600 pixels. The touch panel \r\nallows you to control this unit or a connected component such as an iPod, \r\nSatellite radio receiver, HD Radio tuner, USB Flash memory, or Bluetooth enabled \r\ndevice. Menus appear on screen for making function choices, audio adjustments, \r\nand setting up the system. The unit's touch screen display electronically slides \r\ndown to load and eject your DVD/CD discs, as well as insert your SD memory card. \r\nThe LCD Touch screen displays' angle can be adjusted to five different positions.

\r\n\tNote: The \r\n\tmotorized touch screen display is not \r\n\tremovable.\r\n

Video Adjustments: You can store numerous video settings for \r\neach source and the optional rear view camera; including brightness (adjusts the \r\nblack intensity), contrast (adjusts contrast) color (adjusts color saturation), hue \r\n(adjusts the tone of color), \r\ntemperature (adjust the color temperature), RGB (adjusts phase shifting), and black level \r\n(emphasizes dark portions of images).

Widescreen Modes: You can \r\nchoose from the following widescreen modes when playing back video:

Full: A 4:3 picture is enlarged in the horizontal direction only, enabling you to \r\n\tenjoy a 4:3 picture without any omissions.
Just: The picture is enlarged slightly at the center and the amount of enlargement \r\n\tincreases horizontally toward the ends of the picture.
Zoom: A 4:3 picture is enlarged in the same proportion both vertically and \r\n\thorizontally; ideal for a 16:9 screen.
Cinema: A picture is enlarged by the same proportion as Full or Zoom in the \r\n\thorizontal direction and by an intermediate proportion between Full and Zoom \r\n\tin the vertical direction.
Normal: A 4:3 picture is displayed as it is. \r\n\t

On Screen Display Color And Background Adjustment: The color of \r\nthe on-screen display can be set to red, amber, green, blue or white. The \r\nbackground can be set to one of seven preset background images, a stored JPEG \r\nimage, a video \r\nimage from the external input, the clock, or turned Off.

\r\n

Front-Panel Controls With Adjustable Illumination: In \r\naddition to the touch screen controls, the unit includes frequently used buttons \r\nalong the bottom edge of the screen. The color of the button illumination can \r\nbe set to red, amber, green, blue, white, or scan (constantly cycling through \r\nthe color spectrum). You can also create a custom color using the unit's on-screen \r\nmenu.

\r\n

Dimmer: To prevent the display from being too bright at night, the \r\ndisplay is automatically dimmed when the car's headlights are turned on. You can \r\nturn the dimmer on or off. The automatic dimmer function only works when the \r\norange/white illumination wire in the wiring harness is connected to the \r\nvehicle's headlight circuit.

\r\n

Parking Brake Interlock: This unit has a parking brake interlock \r\nsystem that prohibits viewing of video programming and operating certain \r\ncontrols when the vehicle is in motion. In order to watch video on the in-dash \r\nmonitor, the vehicle must be parked with the parking brake engaged.

\r\n

Audio Section

\r\n

MOSFET50 Internal Amplifier: This receiver is equipped with a 50 watts x 4 (peak) \r\nMOSFET amplifier for low distortion, high power output. The amplifier is strong \r\nenough to power small subwoofers to moderate volume levels in compact cars and \r\npickups. For higher volume levels from subwoofers, an optional amplifier may be \r\nconnected to the preamp outputs.

\r\n

CEA2006 Compliant: The power specifications for the \r\nAVH-P4200DVD are compliant with the CEA2006 Mobile Amplifier Power Testing and \r\nMeasurement standards from the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA). These \r\nstandards were developed as a way to equitably compare power specs from model to \r\nmodel and between manufacturers. The power output specs are as follows:

EEQ (Easy EQ): there are seven stored equalizer curves which you can \r\neasily recall at any time. You can choose from - Powerful, Natural, Vocal, Super \r\nBass, Flat, Custom 1, or Custom 2.

8-Band Graphic EQ: The Custom 1 and Custom 2 EQ modes allow you to \r\nmanually adjust the level (+/- 12dB) of each band of the head unit's 8-band \r\ngraphic equalizer (40Hz, 80Hz, 200Hz, 400Hz, 1kHz, 2.5kHz, 8kHz, and10kHz).

\r\n

Auto EQ (Optional): The auto-equalizer automatically measures your \r\ncar's interior acoustic characteristics, and then creates an auto-equalizer \r\ncurve base on that information. The Pioneer CD-MC20 Auto-EQ microphone (130CDMC20, sold separately) is required to use this function. The Pioneer CD-MC20 Auto-EQ \r\nmicrophone plugs into your compatible Pioneer A/V receiver's front-panel 3.5mm \r\ninput. The Auto-EQ microphone should be placed in the center of your vehicle's \r\ndriver seat headrest facing forward for EQ measurement.

\r\n

Sonic Center Control: Sound that is suited for the listening position \r\ncan easily be created with this function. You can adjust sound more toward the \r\nlistening position left (7) to right (7).

\r\n

Loudness: The Loudness \r\nfunction compensates for deficiencies in the low- and high-frequency ranges at \r\nlow volume. You can set the Loudness to High, Mid, Low, or Off.

\r\n

Bass Boost: You can easily \r\nboost the subwoofer bass level by using the Bass Boost function. The Bass Boost \r\nfeature allows you increase the subwoofer level from 0 to +6.

\r\n

Sound Retriever: The Sound Retriever automatically enhances \r\ncompressed audio and restores the original richness of the recording. When Sound \r\nRetriever is on, the high frequency range is compensated to match the frequency \r\nresponse curve to the original sound. There are two available levels of the \r\nSound Retriever effect.

\r\n

Source \r\nLevel Adjustment (SLA): This function lets \r\nyou adjust the volume level of each source to prevent radical changes in volume \r\nwhen switching between sources. Settings are based on the volume level of the FM \r\ntuner, which remains unchanged. Each source can be independently adjusted from \r\n-4 dB to +4 dB.

\r\n

Three 4-Volt Preamp Outputs: The Pioneer AVH-P4200DVD is \r\nequipped with three 4-Volt preamp outputs (Front/Rear/Subwoofer). The front and \r\nrear speakers are fading with high-pass crossover filters, while the subwoofer \r\noutput is non-fading with a low-pass crossover filter.

\r\n

Front and Rear Preamp Outputs: If you do not want low \r\n\tfrequency sounds to play from the front or rear speaker preamp outputs (or \r\n\tspeaker outputs), you can turn on the 12dB/octave High Pass Filter. The HPF \r\n\thas a selectable cutoff frequency (50, 63, 80, 100, or 125 Hz). Only \r\n\tfrequencies higher than those in the selected range are output through the \r\n\tspeakers. \r\n\t
Subwoofer Output: The unit has a pair of dedicated \r\n\tnon-fading RCA subwoofer outputs with a low-pass filter, phase adjustment, \r\n\tand output level. When the subwoofer output is turned on, you can select the \r\n\tfrequency of the 18dB/octave low pass filter (50, 63, 80, 100, or 125 Hz), \r\n\tselect the subwoofer phase (normal/reverse), and the subwoofer gain (+6 to \r\n\t-24). \r\n\t

\r\n

Rear Channel \r\nSpeaker Output: You \r\ncan choose to use the rear channel output (speaker and preout) for full-range \r\nspeaker or subwoofer. If you select "subwoofer", you can connect a 4-ohm \r\nsubwoofer directly to each rear speaker lead, or a 2-ohm subwoofer to one of the \r\nrear speaker leads, without using an external \r\namplifier.

\r\n

Telephone Mute/Attenuator: Sound from your system is muted or \r\nattenuated automatically when a phone signal \r\nis received when you have hardwired your mobile phone system to the mute wire of \r\nthis unit.

Radio Functions

\r\n

Supertuner IIID AM/FM Tuner: The Supertuner IIID features \r\nFeed Forward Control, which avoids multi-path interference. This pre-detection \r\nof interference enables quick filter control and results in less distortion. In \r\naddition, the Supertuner IIID creates enhanced stereo during multi-path \r\ninterference, unlike conventional tuners that collapse to mono. Digital \r\nprocessing reduces distortion, and improves Signal-to-Noise Ratio and stereo \r\nseparation. Advanced analog technology improves signal processing sensitivity.

\r\n

BSM (Best Stations Memory): BSM \r\nlets you automatically store the six strongest stations under preset buttons 1-6 \r\nof the currently tuned band. The tuner has 3 FM banks and 1 AM bank. You can \r\nstore 6 presets for each bank giving you a total of 18 FM presets and 6 AM \r\npresets.

\r\n

Local Tuning: Local seek tuning \r\nlets you tune in only those radio stations with sufficiently strong signals for \r\ngood reception. There are 4 level of sensitivity for FM and two levels for AM. \r\nThe higher settings allow reception of only the strongest stations, while lower \r\nsettings let you receive progressively weaker stations.

\r\n

Satellite Radio Ready: You can connect and control an \r\nexternal satellite radio tuner from XM or SIRIUS. The head unit is compatible \r\nwith the GEX-P920XM (130P920XM, \r\nsold separately) Pioneer XM receiver. For Sirius there are two options; connect \r\nthe SC-C1 SiriusConnect Universal Vehicle tuner and the CD-SB10 Pioneer Sirius \r\nSatellite Radio interface (700SIRPION, \r\nsold separately), or use the Pioneer Sirius Satellite Radio interface (130CDSB10, \r\nsold separately) and the SIRIUS dock-and-play adapter (607SCVDOC1, \r\nsold separately) along with a compatible portable SIRIUS radio. A subscription \r\nto XM or Sirius, plus the proper antenna is required in order to receive \r\nsatellite radio programming. The satellite radio tuners connect via the IP-Bus \r\nconnector on the back of the head unit.

\r\n

HD Radio Ready: This unit is compatible with the optional \r\nPioneer GEX-P20HD HD Radio tuner (130GEXP20H, \r\nsold separately) allowing you to tune available HD Radio stations. HD Radio \r\nfeatures high quality audio, FM multi-casting, and data services. The add-on HD \r\nRadio tuner also supports iTunes Tagging which allows you to save song \r\ninformation (tag) from an HD Radio broadcasting station to your connected iPod \r\nor iPhone. The saved songs will show up in a playlist called "Tagged" in iTunes \r\nthe next time you sync your iPod. Then you can directly buy the songs you want \r\nfrom the iTunes Music Store. The optional HD Radio tuner connects through the \r\nheadunit's IP-BUS interface.

Disc/SD-card Playback

\r\n

Multimedia Compatibility: The Pioneer AVH-P4200DVD features a \r\nhidden DVD/CD disc slot and SD-card slot behind its motorized slide-down face.

Disc Compatibility: The AVH-P4200DVD supports playback of DVD Video, DVD-R/DL, DVD-RW, CD \r\nAudio, CD-Text, CD-ROM, CD-R, CD-RW, and Video CD discs.
SD Card Compatibility: This unit will support SD (Secure Digital) \r\n\tcards up to 2GB.

\r\n

Compressed Audio Playback: This unit can play MP3 \r\n(8-320 kbps), WMA, (5-320 kbps), and AAC (8-320 kbps) audio files \r\nrecorded on CD-ROM, CD-R, CD-RW, DVD-R, and DVD-RW discs, as well as SD-cards. \r\nThe unit is compatible with ID3 Tags and will display artist, folder, file, and \r\nalbum name, plus comments.

\r\n

Disc Requirements: MP3/WMA/AAC files must be recorded in Level 1/Level 2, Joliet, \r\nand Romeo formats for CD-R/RW discs (UDF 1.02 (for DVD-R/RW discs). Up to 8 directories, \r\n\t700 \r\nfolders and 999 files per CD-R/CD-RW (3500 for DVD-R/RW) are recognized by this unit. \r\n\t
SD Card Requirements: MP3/WMA/AAC files must be recorded in FAT \r\n\t12/16/32. Up to 65,535 files, 6,000 folders (255 files per folder), and up to 8 tiers can be \r\nplayed back.

\r\n

JPEG Picture File Playback: You can play back JPEG \r\nstill images (up to a resolution of 8,192 x 7,680) recorded on CD-R/RW discs and \r\nSD memory cards. The unit automatically starts a slideshow from the first \r\nfolder/picture on the disc. The player displays the pictures in each folder in \r\nalphabetical order. The slideshow interval can be set to 5, 10, or 15 seconds \r\n(or set to manual). JPEG images can also be rotated 90° \r\nclockwise.

\r\n

DivX Video Compatibility: \r\nThis unit supports DivX video file playback recorded onto DVD-R/RW and CD-R/RW \r\ndiscs, as well as SD-cards. The AVH-P4200DVD supports the following DivX formats \r\n(Home Theater ver. 3.0, 4.0, 5.2, and 6.0). The recommended DivX file size is 2 \r\nMbps or less with a transmission rate of 2 GB or less.

Playback Functions: The Pioneer AVH-P4200DVD offers the following playback functions.

\r\n

Automatic Playback: When a DVD \r\ndisc with DVD menu is inserted, this unit will cancel the DVD menu automatically \r\nand start playback from the first chapter of the first title.
Bookmark (Resume Playback): The Bookmark function \r\nlets you resume playback from a selected scene the next time the disc is loaded.
Frame-By-Frame Playback: This \r\nfeature lets you movie ahead on frame at a time during playback of your DVD or \r\nVideo CD.
Slow Motion Forward: When playing a DVD or Video \r\n\tCD, you can choose to play back video in slow motion (no audio).
Repeat Play: Audio/Video content can be repeated. You \r\n\tcan choose from Disc (entire disc), Chapter (current chapter), Title \r\n\t(current title), Track (current track), File (current file), Folder (current \r\n\tfolder), or One (current video/song/track).
Random (Shuffle) Play: Audio/Video can be played back in a random \r\n\torder. You can choose from Songs (videos/songs in selected list), Albums \r\n\t(videos/songs from selected album), Folder (songs/tracks in selected \r\n\tfolder), or Disc (all songs/tracks on disc).

Search Functions: The \r\nAVH-P4200DVD provides the following search functions.

\r\n

Track Title List: You \r\n\tcan select tracks to playback using the track title list which is a list of \r\n\tthe tracks recorded on a disc.
Scene Search: You can use the search \r\n\tfunction on the unit's on-screen display to search for a \r\n\tdesired scene on your DVD by specifying a title and chapter \r\n\ttrack.
Return to Scene: You can return \r\nto the specified scene where the DVD you are currently playing has been \r\npreprogrammed to return.
Skip Search: You can skip to the previous/next track, file, \r\n\tfolder, title, or chapter on a disc.
Fast Forward/Reverse: You can fast forward/reverse through a \r\n\tcurrent track, file, or title on a disc.

Multi-Angle Display: This function allows you to choose the \r\nviewing angle of scenes that were shot from a number of different angles.

Note: This function is \r\n\t\tlimited to DVDs recorded with multiple camera angles.

Multi-Audio: DVDs can provide \r\naudio playback with different languages and different systems (Dolby Digital, \r\nDTS, etc; external processor required to decode Dolby Digital and DTS). With DVDs \r\nfeaturing multi-audio recordings you can switch between \r\nlanguages/audio systems during playback.

Multi-Subtitle: With DVDs \r\nfeaturing multi-subtitle recordings, you can switch between subtitle languages \r\nduring playback of your disc.

\r\n

Parental Lock: This unit \r\nfeatures an 8-level Parental Lock system protected by a user-selected 4-digit \r\npassword to prevent certain DVD's from being played back on the AVH-P4200DVD.

\r\n

Installation Angle: Optimum CD playback performance is \r\nobtained when the unit is installed at an angle of less than 30-degrees.

USB/iPod Connectivity

\r\n

USB Port: The AVH-P4200DVD has a \r\nfemale Type A USB 2.0 Full Speed port on its rear panel and comes supplied with \r\na 5' USB extension cable . You can plug in a USB portable audio \r\nplayer or a USB memory device. This unit is compatible with USB Mass Storage \r\nClass compliant portable audio player and memory devices, loaded with MP3 (8-320 \r\nkbps), WMA (5-320 kbps), and AAC (8- 320 kbps) files recorded in FAT 16/32. Up to 65,535 files, 6,000 folders \r\n(255 files per folder), and up to 8 tiers can be \r\nplayed back. This unit also supports JPEG still image files (up to 8,192 x \r\n7,680 pixels) and DivX video files (Home Theater ver. 3.0, 4.0, 5.2, 6.0) loaded on a USB mass storage device.

iPod Direct Control with Video: The optional Pioneer CD-IU200V interface cable (\r\n130IU200V, sold separately) allows you to plug your iPod/iPhone directly into the Pioneer \r\nAVH-P4200DVD multimedia head unit's rear-panel USB (using the supplied USB extension cable) and \r\nA/V Aux input terminal, and gain direct control, audio/video playback, and charging via \r\nthe head unit. You can choose to control your iPod from the AVH-P4200DVD or the \r\niPod, itself. To make operating and searching easy, operations to control your \r\niPod/iPhone with this unit are designed to be as similar to the iPod/iPhone as \r\npossible. You can search your iPod/iPhone's audio/video content by category \r\n(movies, music videos, TV shows, artists, albums, songs, genres composers, \r\naudiobooks, Podcasts, or playlist). Each category is then listed alphabetically \r\nto ensure easy access to each audio/video file. the AVH-P4200DVD also offers Link \r\nSearch, which displays a lists of songs related to the currently playing song to \r\nmatch your mood. In addition, the AVH-P4200DVD offers Repeat and Shuffle playback functions. If you do not need video playback from \r\n\t\t\tyour compatible iPod, you can use the Pioneer CD-IU50 USB interface \r\n\t\t\tcable (130CDIU50, \r\n\t\t\tsold separately) or the USB/iPod Dock cable that comes with your \r\n\t\t\tiPod to play back audio only, control, and charge your iPod through \r\n\t\t\tthe headunit. AV Connections

AV Auxiliary Input: The AVH-P4200DVD has an AV 3.5mm mini-jack \r\nauxiliary input on the rear-panel panel for connecting a portable audio/video \r\ndevice. In addition, you can connect an \r\naudio only auxiliary device using an optional \r\nIP-Bus-RCA adapter (130CDRB10 \r\nor\r\n130CDRB20, both sold separately).

AV RCA Input: There is a rear-panel A/V input \r\n(composite video/stereo RCA audio) for connecting a video component such as a \r\nVCR or game console.

\r\n

AV Output: The AVH-P4200DVD features a rear seat AV output \r\nconsisting of an RCA composite video output and a 3.5mm stereo mini-jack audio \r\noutput; if the audio input of your rear seat AV system is stereo RCA, a mini-plug \r\nto RCA adapter will be necessary. You can playback audio/video content from a \r\nDVD/CD disc, the front AV input, the rear AV input, or the same source as the \r\nbuilt-in monitor. You can select the unit to output a 16:9, Letter-Box or \r\nPan-Scan aspect ratio to match your external display's screen size.

Note: You cannot play DivX files on the \r\n\tunit's monitor and a connected external monitor at the same \r\n\ttime.

Rear View Camera: The AVH-P4200DVD is equipped with a \r\ncomposite video Rear View Camera input. The head unit features a function that \r\nautomatically switches to the rear camera image (Rear View Camera In jack) when \r\nan optional rear camera (such as the\r\n130NDBC2\r\nor\r\n130NDBC4, sold separately) is \r\ninstalled on your vehicle. When your vehicle's \r\nshift lever is in the reverse position, the screen automatically switches to the \r\nrear view camera (the purple/white wire in the wiring harness must be connected \r\nto the vehicle's reverse lamp circuit for automatic video switching).

Navigation Ready: The Pioneer AVH-P4200DVD is equipped with a \r\nproprietary multi-pin jack which allows you to connect the Pioneer AVIC-U220 \r\nadd-on navigation unit (sold separately).

Bluetooth/Remote Control

\r\n

Optional Bluetooth Adapter: In addition, you can use this \r\nunit to control a CD-BTB200 Bluetooth adapter (130BTB200, sold separately) for your compatible Bluetooth mobile phone or Bluetooth \r\nportable audio player. The Pioneer CD-BTB200 Bluetooth Adapter allows you to \r\nmake and receive calls wirelessly and hands-free on your Bluetooth-equipped \r\ncellular telephone through this Pioneer "Bluetooth Adapter Ready" head unit. The \r\nCD-BTB200 comes with a microphone for making and answering your calls. You can \r\nhear the other party through the vehicle's speaker system. The unit connects to \r\nthe head unit via the supplied IP-BUS cable, and has an IP-BUS pass-through for \r\ndaisy chaining another component.
