Display Features

\r\n

Video Display: \r\nThis unit is equipped with a fixed 5.8" color TFT active matrix, widescreen \r\nLCD that serves as a video monitor and system information display. The display \r\nhas a 16:9 aspect ratio, and a resolution of 800 x 480 for a total of 384,000 \r\npixels. The brightness of the video display can be adjusted \r\nfor best visibility.

Note: To prevent displaying video while the vehicle is in \r\n\tmotion, the light green wire in the supplied 16-pin harness must be \r\n\tconnected to the vehicle's parking brake detection circuit. While the vehicle \r\n\tis in motion (parking \r\n\tbrake off), you can still view all of the other displays and menus.

\r\n

Touch Screen Controls: \r\nThis unit has touch screen \r\ncontrols with interactive video graphics, making menu navigation easy. The \r\nscreen is non-glare and smudge-resistant.

\r\n

Illumination Color Adjustment: The color of the button \r\nillumination can be set to virtually any color you desire. You can select from 8 \r\npreset colors, or choose a continuous scan of the 8 default colors. You can also \r\ncreate up to 3 custom colors and save them in memory. To create a custom color, \r\nyou can select a value of between 00 and +31 of Red, Green, and Blue (except for \r\nR00, G00, B00). This gives you a choice of 32,767 colors.

\r\n

Voice Recognition: \r\nPioneer's voice command system accepts and recognizes conversational phrases and language \r\nand translates them into commands. You don't have to memorize a list of \r\npreset commands in order to operate the unit. The system intelligently filters \r\nout superfluous sounds and phrases to accurately recognize the request. If you \r\ndon't give enough information in the command, the unit will ask additional \r\nquestions to clarify the request, rather than rejecting it. You can use voice \r\ncommands to control your iPod, make a hands-free phone call on your Bluetooth \r\nphone, or change the A/V input.

Navigation

\r\n

Flash Memory Navigation: Pioneer has taken the entire \r\nTeleAtlas database, which previously required two DVDs, and compressed it into a \r\n2 GB internal flash memory. The maps cover the \r\nentire United States (including Alaska and Hawaii) and Canada. The database provides \r\napproximately 12-million points-of-interest (POIs) in various categories throughout the \r\ncoverage area. You can search for a POI near your current location, near your \r\ndestination, near where you place the cursor on the map, along your current \r\nroute, or near an address you enter.

\r\n

Positioning Technology: \r\nThe \r\nAVIC-X910BT accurately measures your current location by the Global Positioning System, a network of \r\nsatellites orbiting the earth to give you time and position information. The \r\naccuracy of the GPS information depends upon how good the reception is. The unit \r\nhas a 30-channel GPS receiver with a magnetic antenna included. The AVIC-X910BT \r\nalso features a speed sensing cable for better accuracy of your vehicle's \r\nmovement.

\r\n

Voice Guidance/Text to Speech: \r\nIn addition to \r\ngraphical on-screen directions and maps, the AVIC-X910BT provides voice guidance and turn-by-turn \r\ndirections. You can choose a male or female voice in English, French, or \r\nSpanish. Some of the voices are capable of text-to-speech, announcing the street \r\nnames along with the turn directions.

\r\n

AVIC Feeds: You can create custom Points of Interest (POIs) by using \r\nthe AVIC Feeds utility program, available on the Pioneer website (pioneerelectronics.com). \r\nOnce created, you can store the POI on an external storage device, such as a USB \r\nthumb drive or SD card, and upload the information to the unit. Other AVIC Feeds \r\napplications include Driving Report and Picture Editor.

\r\n

MSN Direct Tuner: The AVIC-X910BT comes equipped with a built-in MSN \r\nDirect tuner. This allows you to see updated traffic conditions, local and world \r\nweather, local gas prices (along with when they were updated), theater locations \r\nand movie times, local events, news headlines, and stock quotes. When \r\nthe navigation system receives updated traffic information, it will overlay the \r\ntraffic information on your map and also display detailed text information \r\nwhen available. The navigation system will take in account the traffic \r\ninformation and try to avoid traffic jams and suggest better routes. This service \r\nis available for a fee through the MSN Direct data subscription service.

\r\n

Note: When the Pioneer HD Radio tuner (item #130GEXP20H) is added to the \r\n\tAVIC-X910BT, a separate antenna will be required to maintain the MSN Direct \r\n\tService. We recommend the Universal Hideaway antenna (item #12044UA20). MSN \r\n\tDirect service will be available only until January 1, 2012.

Audio Section

\r\n

CEA2006 Compliant: The power specifications for the \r\nAVIC-X910BT are compliant with the CEA2006 Mobile Amplifier Power Testing and \r\nMeasurement standards from the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA). These \r\nstandards were developed as a way to equitably compare power specs from model to \r\nmodel and between manufacturers. The power output specs for the AVIC-X910BT are \r\nas follows:

CEA2006 Specs: 14 watts RMS x 4 channels (at 4 ohms, \r\n\t20Hz-20kHz, 1% THD-N), 91 dBA S/N (reference: 1 watt into 4 ohms)
Continuous Power Output: \r\n\t22 watts RMS x 4 channels (at \r\n\t4 ohms, 50Hz-15kHz, 5% THD)
Maximum Power Output: \r\n\t50 watts x 4 channels (or 50 \r\n\twatts x 2 channels at 4 ohms + 70 watts x 1 channel at 2 ohms for subwoofer)

3-Band \r\nParametric Equalizer: This unit \r\nincludes a 3-band parametric EQ with selectable Q factor. You can adjust the low \r\nfrequency (40Hz, 80Hz, 100Hz, or 160Hz), midrange (200kHz, 500kHz, 1kHz, or 2kHz) and \r\nhigh \r\nfrequency (3.15kHz, 8kHz, 10kHz, or 12.5kHz) from \r\n-12dB to +12dB. The Q factor \r\n(slope of the boost or cut) may be selected from 0.35, 0.59, 0.95, or 1.15. Selecting a narrow (steep) Q factor \r\nresults in frequencies around the center frequency being affected less by the \r\nboost or cut than they are with a wide Q factor. This feature is useful for \r\ntaming frequency response problems caused by the dimensions, materials, and \r\nspeaker locations of a vehicle.

\r\n

EQ Presets: There are 7 preset EQ curves: Super Bass, Powerful, Natural, Vocal, \r\nFlat, Custom \r\n1, and Custom 2. The two Custom curves allow you to create and store EQ settings in memory. \r\nYou can create a separate Custom 1 curve for each source, while the Custom 2 \r\ncurve is used for all sources.

\r\n

Adjustable \r\nLoudness: You can select one of \r\nthree different levels of loudness compensation. A Low loudness contour \r\nprovides +3.5dB boost at 100Hz and +3dB boost at 10kHz. A Mid boost is +10dB \r\nat 100Hz and +6.5dB at 10kHz. A High loudness contour is +11dB at both 100Hz and \r\n10kHz.

Note: These Loudness contours use a reference volume level of -30dB.

\r\n

Source Level \r\nAdjustment (SLA): This function lets you adjust the volume level of \r\neach source to prevent radical changes in volume when switching between sources. \r\nSettings are based on the volume level of the FM tuner, which remains unchanged.

\r\n

High-Pass Filter: \r\nWhen you don't want sound in the subwoofer frequency range output from the front \r\nand rear speakers, you may activate the built-in high-pass filter. You may \r\nselect a filter frequency of 50Hz, 63Hz, 80Hz, 100Hz, or 125Hz with a slope of \r\n12dB per octave. The high-pass filter effects the line and speaker level \r\noutputs.

\r\n

Subwoofer Preouts: \r\nIn addition to the front and rear preamp outputs, there is one set of subwoofer \r\noutputs that may be turned on or off. When on, the outputs are non-fading, and may \r\nbe set for normal or reverse phase. The built-in low-pass filter frequency can \r\nbe set to 50Hz, 63Hz, 80Hz, 100Hz, or 125Hz. The level of the subwoofer output \r\ncan be adjusted between -24 to +6. The low-pass filter has a slope of 18dB per \r\noctave.

\r\n

Bass Boost: The Bass Boost function raises the level of low \r\nfrequency sounds; select the desired level of bass boost between 0 and 6 (Gain: \r\n0dB to +12dB).

\r\n

AM/FM Tuner

\r\n

Supertuner IIID AM/FM \r\nTuner: The Supertuner IIID features Feed Forward Control, which avoids \r\nmulti-path interference. This pre-detection of interference enables quick filter \r\ncontrol and results in less distortion. In addition, the Supertuner IIID creates \r\nenhanced stereo during multi-path interference, unlike conventional tuners that \r\ncollapse to mono.

\r\n

Multimedia Playback

\r\n

Disc Compatibility: The AVIC-X910BT has a single DVD slot \r\nthat is compatible with DVD-Video and audio CDs, as well as DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD-R \r\nDL, CD-R, and CD-RW discs. Recordable discs can contain MP3, WMA, AAC, or DivX files. Discs \r\nshould be recorded in ISO9660 Level 1 or 2, Romeo, Joliet, or UDF 1.02. The unit \r\nwill accept up to 700 folders and 3500 files.

SD Memory Card Slot: The unit has a front panel SD Memory card slot \r\nthat allows you to play music or video files from an SD Memory card \r\nor SDHC Memory card of up to 8 GB. You can play MP3, WMA, AAC, WAV, AVI, and MPEG4 \r\nfiles.

Built-in Bluetooth

\r\n

Bluetooth Solution: The AVIC-X910BT is equipped with \r\na built-in Parrot Bluetooth system. You can make and receive phone calls \r\nwirelessly through the receiver. When a call is received, the caller ID \r\ninformation appears on screen and you can choose to answer or reject the call. \r\nThere is also an Auto Answer feature set in the menu. To place a call you can \r\ndial by voice command, access the on screen number pad, call from call history \r\n(dialed, received, and missed), dial a phone book entry, call a POI (if the \r\nphone number is in the database), or call home (one your home number is \r\nprogrammed).

\r\n

Note: Not all Bluetooth-capable phones are compatible, \r\n\tbut Parrot compatibility updates will be available periodically.

\r\n

Microphone: The included microphone has a 13' cord that plugs into \r\nthe back of the radio, and comes with an adjustable visor-mount clip. You'll \r\nhear the other party through \r\nthe vehicle's front speakers.

\r\n

Phone Pairing: Up to 3 Bluetooth-compatible cell phones can \r\nbe registered to this head unit (one connected at a time). If your phone \r\nsupports the feature, you can transfer your entire phonebook to the head unit at \r\nonce; up to 400 entries per cellular \r\nphone.

\r\n

Echo Cancellation: The receiver offers an Echo Cancellation \r\nfeature to keep phone calls sounding loud and clear.

External Device Connection

\r\n

Auxiliary A/V Input: The unit has a front panel 3.5mm mini-jack input \r\n(AV2) which can be used with auxiliary audio or AV devices. The AV Settings menu \r\nallows you to set the input to Video or Off. The optional CD-RM10 mini-plug-to-RCA \r\nAV adapter (item number \r\n130CDRM10) \r\nshould be used when connecting an AV device to the unit.

\r\n

A/V Input: The AVIC-X910BT \r\nfeatures an audio/video input (AV1) on the RCA connector harness with an RCA \r\ncomposite video and stereo RCA audio jacks. In the AV Settings menu, you can set \r\nthe input to one of the following:

Video: for connecting an external video component with RCA audio \r\n\tand video cables
iPod: for connecting an iPod using the optional CD-IU230V cable \r\n\t(item number \r\n\t130CDIU230)
EXT: for connecting a Pioneer external unit with the RCA video \r\n\tcable
Off: No video component is connected

\r\n

Rear View Camera: The head unit \r\nhas a function that automatically switches to the rear camera image (Rear \r\nView Camera In jack) when a rear camera (such as item number \r\n130NDBC2) \r\nis installed on your vehicle. When the \r\nshift lever is in the reverse position, the screen automatically switches to the \r\nrear view camera. You can also manually engage the rear view camera during \r\nnormal driving, allowing you to keep an eye on a trailer or boat you may be \r\ntowing. When the vehicle is first started, the delay before the rear view camera \r\nis visible on screen is approximately ten seconds.

Note: The trigger wire in the power/speaker harness must be \r\nconnected to the reverse circuit in order for the unit to \r\nautomatically switch to the camera view when the vehicle is in reverse gear.

\r\n

USB Input: The AVIC-X910BT has a USB input on a rear-mounted 6-1/2' \r\npigtail for playing music or video files on a USB storage device, \r\nsuch as an iPod, USB thumb drive, or USB-based MP3 player. The unit is compatible with \r\nMP3, WMA, AAC, WAV, AVI, and MPEG4 files. The input is USB 2.0 High Speed, and can \r\naccept USB drives up to 8 GB. The maximum current supply is 500 mA.

iPod Compatible: You can directly control your music and \r\nvideos from the AVIC-X910BT's touch screen with the optional CD-iU230V iPod \r\nAudio/Video Direct Cable (item number\r\n\r\n130CDIU230). The cable connects the iPod to the unit via USB for control and \r\nto the AV1 input for audio and video (the iPod transfers analog audio and video \r\nsignals to the AVIC-X910BT). If available the iPod's album art displays on the \r\ntouch screen. The Pioneer AVIC-X910BT is "Made for iPod/iPhone" compatible and \r\nsupports the following iPod/iPhone model functions when connected via the \r\noptional CD-iU230V iPod cable (as of Dec. 2009):
