My first after market radio. Screen is super snappy and does everything I need it to do. Nice that HD radio is included, as some similarly priced radios do not have this included.

Pioneer DMH-2000NEX

Pioneer is my goto for car audio, and this is another radio that doesn't disappoint. It has a responsive screen and all the features I want like Apple CarPlay, backup cam, and SiriusXM ready. Unfortunately, it doesn't let me leave the camera on all the time like my 1330NEX. I have to turn it on at each startup, and manually go back to it, if I use CarPlay or change the radio. Also I'm locked out of editing camera settings, even with the parking brake bypass installed. The screen might be a few millimeters bigger than DDIN, so it might require modification of the trim piece with flush cutters.

Pretty good unit.

Very pleased with the stereo, quite upset with the trim kit recommend. The trim kit would not fit the stereo and had to be modified, left a less than professional look that I'm not happy with.

Great Sound from Old Speakers

I bought this head unit to replace the stock radio in my 2002 Toyota 4runner. The sound from the stock speakers is better than I could have imagined. If only they made this with a volume knob, but I knew that when I bought it.

Good sounding radio. Screen is easily readable and easy to use (at least in my application). Was easy to replace my old radio that had quit working. Tech support was very helpful with one wiring question I had.

Great value

Works great. Great value for money. Been installed for 3 months in 2007 Corolla and all of a sudden, the past few days, the audio through carplay would not work. It linked up no problem, but no sound. Radio worked, just carplay didn't. Contacted Crutchfield customer support. They recommended updating the firmware and emailed the instructions. I was doubtful but sure enough it worked! I'm guessing the latest ios update did something that necessitated the firmware update.

Solid Unit

Installed on 1/10/25. Put it through the motions for about 30 minutes and so far, so good. Screen quality appears to be fine and is surprisingly quick when swiping through the menus. The buttons can be changed to different colors which is nice if you want to match interior lights. Custom splash screen and background image can be added as well. If you are pairing this unit with a backup camera, the backup assist lines that this unit offers can be displayed when shifting into reverse. However, you have to select the "ON" option EVERY time in the top left corner of the screen to see the lines once shifting into reverse. Not a deal-breaker but a slight PITA. Lastly, during the installation I experienced a faulty wiring harness adapter that took a couple of hours to troubleshoot over the phone. The result was Crutchfield sending me a replacement part within two days and the customer service was extremely solid. I will definitely purchase from Crutchfield in the future.

Basic head unit that brings older cars more up to date. Had some issues with EQ setting being grayed out and odd volume behavior. Changing volume on screen or from the steering wheel controls, the volume would show it was changing on screen, but actual volume would stay the same and then suddenly jump. Found the issue under Settings, Mute options. It was set to ATT. Changed the setting from ATT to Mute and that fix the volume and EQ issues.

Sounds and looks amazing

When I was reading about people having to cut their dash apart to install a double din in a 10th gen F150, I thought that there had to be a better way. There is. This head unit and some 3d printed parts I designed means I have a clean install, great looking and sounding unit, and I didnt have to chop up my dashboard.

Solid unit - but Pioneer messed it with parking brake switch

- HD radio - works beautifully. - Touch-screen - amazingly responsive. - Display - just the correct blend of contrast, brightness and sharpness. - Installation - straight forward assuming one has the CRUX and the Ready Harness. - Microphone supplied is really good quality. - My dash-cam offered audio OUT and was able to connect to this HU. Alerts are now via this HU. - The best part #1 I have factory (non - BOSE) speakers. HU allowed me to independently tune speakers in terms of dB and distance. If the microphone is correctly installed (just under the steering wheel) then auto calibration is also possible by HU. - The best part #2 Rather than spending $120 on the next unit with wireless AirPlay I bought Carlinkit 5.0 directly connected to USB of unit and car's USB to Carlinkit using the Metra cable. When installed nothing is visible. Now I am able to wireless connect to this HU and car's USB port also is available just in case - as a Wired Car Play. What I did not like: Pioneer has gone nut crazy regarding the parking brake and the 3 pulse. I actually had it connected to parking brake switch. Guess what? To enable/disable Pioneer demands the driver to switch on parking brake, switch off and switch on again within few seconds. WHAT? This is so bad I can't even recommend Pioneer to anyone.

After installing, I called to go through the steps on operation. I am totally impressed with how Michael went through this with me. He took his time in explaining what to do. If he had not been there for me, I would have had a hard time on my own. So glad to know that Crutchfield has such expertise available to discuss what they sell. My first Pioneer, and it's awesome

Feature set is very robust for an entry level model. Sound quality is excellent, and very adjustable. Built in eq and sound shaping features are easy to use and create a perfect envelope anywhere in the car. Good bass (enough that I really should consider installing better speakers). The CarPlay feature supports my 3rd-party wireless adapter, so I don't have to plug in, it just powers up and connects. HD Radio is nice although tuning to HD2 on stations with multiple channels isn't immediately obvious. Idatalink support with configurable gauge screens so I'm able to see more data about the car than Toyota was showing me. Installation was complex, but everything worked on the first try and it looks so clean. The kit Crutchfield recommends with it worked well, and simplified installation enormously. Worth the money.

Installed a few days ago, and it is more responsive than Ford and Chevrolets touch screens with lots of settings, and HD Radio. Can't go wrong. Also works great with a backup cam.

Excellent device, just the colors are not so vibrant as expected and the touch responsive is not the best.. but this is understandable for the price of an entry level device.. other than this.. I like it.

Not bad

Screen looks great, sounds good. Unsure what the GPS antenna is for it dosnt have built in maps. Android Auto worked great with no fuss. No dumb "Look around" warnings on the reverse screen blocking your view.

Good reasonably priced radio

So far I like it. The new user interface takes a little getting used to compared to the older generation pioneers. The radio works like it's supposed to. It sounds great. The USB charges my phone faster than my old radio

Great Carplay unit

This is my second Pioneer Carplay unit I've used in my Evo 8. The first being the flip-out unit from Pioneer. The NEX3500, which was nice, but I wanted a flush unit. Last summer, I bought an Alpine Carplay unit. It overheated and blew. Crutchfield sent me another for free, it also blew. Which they without a fight, fully refunded me. Incredible customer-service. This Pioneer, has been perfect. Great screen-resolution, no lag, no overheating. Carplay works great, so does Android Auto. The design is clean and minimal. I love it. It really helped my 2005 Lancer Evo interior look and feel less, well, 2005 Mitsubishi lol My only complaint, is the dimmer settings I input, while in nighttime mode, don't save just for nighttime mode. When it's day time, those settings stick to day time, so I have brighten it up again. The NEX3500 saved the dimmer settings for day/night time. That's kind of annoying, but not enough to actually bother me. The positives outweigh that.

Great Pioneer With Apple CarPlay

Really nice Pioneer! Great way to add Apple CarPlay to an older car at an affordable price. Installed in a 2002 Toyota Highlander. I had Crutchfield assemble the harness, and worth every penny for it. The speed sensor cable was a real bugger.recommend using a smaller connector than supplied with the harness.had trouble piercing the wire sheath with the provided connector that was a bit large for the car wire. Crutchfield customer service was awesome before I ever ordered.they answered my questions so I knew what the challenges would be ahead of spending the money and they provided a diagram with the speed sensor wire location. That was super helpful. This unit is cabled Apple CarPlay.not wireless. If you're good with that, this unit is for you. I found a USB cable from another vendor that snapped into an OEM looking accessory blank off.ran the GPS cable behind the right A pillar and down behind the glovebox. Super clean look. Super happy.

Great Entry priced head unit

A solid head unit with wired Android Auto/Apple Car Play. It won't blow you out of the water with snappy reaction times or over the top visuals. But it does what it does well. With the iDatalink connection and the provided OBDII connector harness, I can also now readily see my car's health data right on the radio, including all 4 tires inflation pressure, without a separate app or ODBII reader. Very nice Pioneer, Very nice.

Unit resets, LCD screen turns black except for the left buttons

Installed in a 1997 Toyota Hiace. I bought this head unit thinking it would last forever because it's a Pioneer and it had good ratings. It ran great for about an hour. Went to eat somewhere and then when I went back to the car and started it up, it worked great, but then the unit resettled itself multiple times and would get the NEX start up screen. Then it would turn black except for the buttons on the left. Then it would restart. Then suddenly a square popped up on the screen with lines going down. Then it shut off and never turned back on. Tried pushing the small button in the lower left, same problem. Unplugged all the wires except for the main one and it was still black except for the left buttons, which were unresponsive to input. I returned it today to get the AVH-2550NEX since I installed the harness already and it plugs right up. Hopefully it doesn't have the same issue! Disappointed how glitchy the Pioneer is.

Great upgrade

We couldn't be more pleased with the installation of the Pioneer DMH-2000NEX in our 04 Camry. Crutchfield had the needed accessories and more importantly the expertise to help me with the install. We added a backup camera and now our car is up to date and ready to rock and roll. Highly recommend!

So far so good, put this in a 2004 Toyota celica and it sounds so much better than the stock radio, didn't hook up the cameras or anything jus the radio

2016 Subaru Forester (base model) Great looking head unit after installed. Even though our car is a base model the interface give us a lot more options. Enhanced audio sound with stock speakers definitely pleased with our purchase.
