Overview: The Pioneer DEH-P5100UB is an AM/FM/CD receiver \r\nthat can play MP3, WMA, WAV, and AAC files on CD-R and CD-RW discs, as well as \r\nfrom a portable USB device. It has a front-panel \r\n3.5mm auxiliary input for portable devices, as well as a front-panel and rear-panel USB input \r\nfor your iPod or other USB-based portable audio player or USB memory device. \r\nAdditional accessories that are compatible with this unit include Bluetooth \r\nAudio and Bluetooth Telephone (when the optional Pioneer Bluetooth adapter is \r\nconnected), XM or SIRIUS Satellite Radio (with an optional satellite radio tuner \r\nand antenna), and a multi-CD player.
Detachable Face Security: This unit features Detachable Face \r\nSecurity. If the front panel is not detached from the headunit within four \r\nseconds of turning off the ignition, a warning tone sounds. You can turn off the \r\nwarning tone. A face case is included with the unit. A face-fixing screw is supplied for making the face non-detachable, if \r\ndesired.

OEL Full-Motion Display: The DEH-P5100UB features a black background \r\nwith a 3-line, blue OEL full-motion display, which takes advantage of MP3, \r\nWMA, iPod, XM Radio, and Sirius, plus CD Text-encoded discs. This display makes \r\nit easy to read and cycle through the song title, artist, and other text used by \r\nthese sources. The OEL display also offers 3D full-motion screen savers.

Multi-Language Display: For \r\nyour convenience this unit is equipped with a multiple language display. You can \r\nselect from English, Spanish, or French.

Ever Scroll: When the Ever \r\nScroll feature is set to On, recorded text information scrolls continuously on \r\nthe display. It will auto-scroll up to 64 characters. Set this feature to Off if you prefer the information to scroll \r\nonly once.

Disc Naming: You can use the disc title input feature to \r\nstore up to 48 CD titles in the unit's memory. Each title can be up to 10 \r\ncharacters long.

Function Confirmation Tones: The receiver emits an audible \r\nbeep tone each time a button is pressed. These function confirmation tones \r\ncannot be turned off.

Display \r\nIllumination/Clock Display: When the Clock \r\nDisplay has been turned on, pressing and holding the Source button turns off \r\naudio output, but the clock display remains on. When \r\nthe Clock Display has been turned off, pressing and holding the source button \r\nturns the unit off completely. Even if you have turned the radio completely off \r\nyou can view the clock display by pressing the clock button. The clock will then \r\nremain On until you turn it back Off. When the unit is On you can select between \r\nthe clock display or the audio track/tuner display.

Dimmer: To prevent the display from being too bright at \r\nnight, the display is automatically dimmed when the car's headlights are turned \r\non. You can turn the dimmer function On or Off. The orange/white illumination \r\nwire must be connected to the vehicle's headlight circuit in order for this \r\nfeature to work.

MOSFET Amplifier: \r\nThe DEH-P5100UB is equipped with a MOSFET amplifier. Compared to conventional power \r\nsupplies, the MOSFET amplification circuit is smaller and more efficient, and it \r\ndelivers increased power with less distortion and absolutely zero on/off \r\nswitching noise. More power means louder and cleaner music at higher volumes \r\nbecause you're not pushing the limits of the amplification circuit.

CEA2006 Compliant: The power specifications for the \r\nDEH-P5100UB are \r\ncompliant with the CEA2006 Mobile Amplifier Power Testing and Measurement \r\nstandards from the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA). These standards were \r\ndeveloped as a way to equitably compare power specs from model to model and \r\nbetween manufacturers. The power output specs for the DEH-P5100UB are as \r\nfollows:

Three 4-Volt Preamp Outputs: The Pioneer DEH-P5100UB is equipped with three 4-Volt preamp outputs \r\n(Front/Rear/Subwoofer). The front and rear speakers are fading with high-pass \r\ncrossover filters, while the subwoofer output is non-fading with a low-pass \r\ncrossover filter.

Front and Rear Preamp Outputs:\r\n\tIf you do not \r\nwant low frequency sounds to play from the front or rear speaker preamp outputs \r\n\t(or speaker outputs), you \r\ncan turn on the 12dB/octave High Pass Filter. The HPF has a selectable cutoff \r\nfrequency (50, 63, 80, 100, or 125 Hz). Only frequencies \r\nhigher than those in the selected range are output through the speakers.
\r\n\t
Subwoofer Output: The unit has a pair of dedicated \r\n\tnon-fading RCA subwoofer outputs with a low-pass filter, phase adjustment, \r\n\tand output level. When the subwoofer output is turned on, you can select the \r\n\tfrequency of the 18dB/octave low pass filter (50, 63, 80, 100, or 125 Hz), \r\n\tselect the subwoofer phase (normal/reverse), and the subwoofer gain (+6 to \r\n\t-24).

Switchable Rear Channel/Subwoofer Speaker Output: The \r\nrear speaker outputs can be set to provide full range output with full fading \r\ncapability, or they can be set to provide non-fading subwoofer (low-pass) \r\noutput. When the rear speaker outputs are set to subwoofer mode, the rear preamp \r\noutputs also switch from full range to subwoofer outputs. When set for subwoofer \r\noperation, you can connect the rear speaker leads directly to two small 4-ohm \r\npassive subwoofers or a dual voice coil sub with 4-ohm voice coils. If you \r\nprefer to use a single 2-ohm subwoofer, you can connect the woofer to one set of \r\nspeaker leads, leaving the other set of rear leads disconnected. The maximum \r\noutput provided when a 2-ohm load is connected to one set of leads is 70 watts.

Bass Boost: The Bass Boost \r\nfunction raises the level of sounds lower than 100Hz. You can select a desired \r\nlevel of bass boost between 0 and 6 (Gain: +12dB to 0dB).

Source \r\nLevel Adjustment (SLA): This function lets \r\nyou adjust the volume level of each source to prevent radical changes in volume \r\nwhen switching between sources. Settings are based on the volume level of the FM \r\ntuner, which remains unchanged. Each source can be independently adjusted from \r\n-4dB to +4dB.

AM/FM Tuner
\r\n
Supertuner \r\nIIID AM/FM Tuner: The Supertuner IIID features \r\nFeed Forward Control, which avoids multi-path interference. This pre-detection \r\nof interference enables quick filter control and results in less distortion. In \r\naddition, the Supertuner IIID creates enhanced stereo during multi-path \r\ninterference, unlike conventional tuners that collapse to mono. Digital \r\nprocessing reduces distortion, and improves Signal-to-Noise Ratio and stereo \r\nseparation. Advanced analog technology improves signal processing sensitivity.

BSM (Best Stations Memory): The BSM (Best Stations Memory) function \r\nlets you automatically store the six strongest stations under preset buttons 1-6 \r\nof the currently tuned band. The tuner has 3 FM banks and 1 AM bank. You can \r\nstore 6 presets for each bank giving you a total of 18 FM presets and 6 AM \r\npresets.

Local Tuning: Local seek tuning \r\nlets you tune in only those radio stations with sufficiently strong signals for \r\ngood reception. There are 4 levels of sensitivity for FM and two levels for AM. \r\nThe higher settings allow reception of only the strongest stations, while lower \r\nsettings let you receive progressively weaker stations.

CD Playback
\r\n
MP3/WMA/WAV Playback: This unit can play MP3/WMA/WAV files recorded on CD-ROM, CD-R, and CD-RW discs \r\nin ISO9660 Level 1/Level 2, Joliet, and Romeo formats. MP3 files with a bit rate \r\nfrom 8-320 kbps, WMA files with a constant bit rate from 48-320 kbps, and WMA \r\nfiles with a variable bit rate from 48-384 kbps are supported. The unit is \r\ncompatible with ID3 Tags and will display artist, folder, file, and album name, \r\nplus comments. Up to 8 directories, 99 folders and 999 files per disc are \r\nrecognized by this unit.

AAC Decoding: This unit will \r\nplayback AAC files encoded by iTunes recorded onto CDs, however files purchased \r\nfrom the iTunes Music Store (.m4p file extension) are not compatible. Tracks \r\nrecorded at transmission rates of 16-320 kbps are playable on this unit.

List Button: The List button on the front panel allows you \r\nto \r\ntrack the title list, folder list, file list, preset channel list, or disc title \r\nlist, depending upon the source. Once the List button is pressed, you can turn \r\nthe multi-control knob to view each item on the list. To select the highlighted \r\nitem, you can press the multi-control. This allows you to quickly make \r\nselections from most any source.

Dual USB Inputs: The unit's rear-panel USB type-A \r\ninput (attached by 7.5" pigtail) and front-panel USB type-A input allow you to connect a USB portable audio player \r\nand/or USB flash memory that \r\nis USB Mass Storage Class compliant (256MB to 250GB).\r\nThis unit can play MP3/WMA/WAV/AAC files stored on a USB Mass Storage device \r\nin FAT16 or FAT32 file system formats. MP3 files with a bit rate \r\nfrom 8-320 kbps, WMA files with a constant bit rate from 48-320 kbps, and WMA \r\nfiles with a variable bit rate from 48-384 kbps, along with AAC files with a bit \r\nrate from16-320 kbps are supported. The unit is compatible with ID3 Tags \r\nand will display artist, folder, file, and album name, plus comments. Up to 8 \r\ndirectories, 500 folders and 15,000 files per USB device are recognized by this \r\nunit.

iPod Interface: The DEH-P5100UB can control and playback songs on an iPod. This unit supports \r\nonly iPods with a standard Dock Connector. You can connect your iPod using the unit's \r\nfront-panel or rear-panel USB input, along with a dock connector-to-USB cable, such as the one supplied with your iPod, or the optional \r\n130CDIU50 (sold separately). When connected \r\nvia USB, you can choose to control the iPod from the head unit or the iPod \r\nitself. (you can still change songs from the head unit, even when you are \r\ncontrolling the iPod manually). You can perform multiple search \r\nfunctions, including playlist, genre, artist, album, and alphabetical searches. \r\nThe headunit will also display your iPod's music file information, including \r\nPlay Time, Song Title, Artist Name, and Album Title. While \r\nconnected and the ignition switch is set to ACC or ON, the USB connection will power and charge your iPod. \r\nThe Pioneer DEH-P5100UB is "Made for iPod/iPhone" compatible and supports the \r\nfollowing iPod/iPhone model functions (as of Dec. 2009):

Optional USB Adapter: If the head unit's built-in \r\nfront-panel USB input is being used, you can connect a USB adapter (130CDUB100, \r\nsold separately) to the IP-Bus port to playback audio from a portable audio \r\nplayer that features a USB interface. This USB adapter features a IP-Bus \r\npass-through for daisy chaining another IP-Bus compatible component.

Satellite Radio Ready: You can connect and control an \r\nexternal satellite radio tuner from XM or SIRIUS. The head unit is compatible \r\nwith the GEX-P920XM (130P920XM, \r\nsold separately) Pioneer XM receiver. For Sirius there are two options; connect \r\nthe SC-C1 SiriusConnect Universal Vehicle tuner and the CD-SB10 Pioneer Sirius \r\nSatellite Radio interface (700SIRPION, \r\nsold separately), or use the Pioneer Sirius Satellite Radio interface (130CDSB10, \r\nsold separately) and the SIRIUS dock-and-play adapter (607SCVDOC1, \r\nsold separately) along with a compatible portable SIRIUS radio. A subscription \r\nto XM or Sirius, plus the proper antenna is required in order to receive \r\nsatellite radio programming. The satellite radio tuners connect via the IP-Bus \r\nconnector on the back of the head unit.

IP-Bus Changer Controls: You can \r\nadd an IP-Bus-compatible 6-disc or 12-disc Pioneer CD changer, and control it \r\nfrom the head unit. \r\n

Auxiliary Input: The DEH-P5100UB is equipped with a front-panel 3.5mm stereo minijack auxiliary input for \r\nconnecting external components, such as a portable MP3 player, DVD, or VCR. Once \r\nAUX 1 is selected as a source, you can change the source display of the input to \r\nany 10-character name. A second auxiliary device can be connected to this unit \r\nwhen an optional adapter is connected to the IP-Bus connector on the rear panel. \r\nBoth Aux 1 and Aux 2 must be turned on in the setup menu in order to be selected \r\nas a source. 2nd Auxiliary Input Ready: In addition to the front panel \r\nminijack Aux input (AUX 1), you can connect a second auxiliary component by \r\nconnecting an IP-Bus/RCA connector. The optional CD-RB10 (130CDRB10, \r\nsold separately) lets you connect one auxiliary component, and the optional \r\nCD-RB20 (130CDRB20, \r\nsold separately) lets you connect an auxiliary component and a CD changer via \r\nthe IP-Bus connector on the back of the head unit. The 10-character name of the \r\nconnected auxiliary component can be entered into memory, and will appear as you \r\ncycle through the sources.

Wireless Remote Control: The DEH-P5100UB comes with a wireless \r\nremote control (CXC8885). The remote allows you to control the volume, switch \r\nbetween sources, pause the CD, change the display, and adjust the audio. The \r\nattenuator button allows you to quickly lower the volume by about 90%, a \r\nfunction that cannot be performed from the front panel.
