Long-lasting performance

This W0v3 Series sub features a tough polypropylene cone that resists flexing, and a durable foam surround that'll stand up to hard use. The cone's extra-long excursion capability lets it hit truly deep notes without distorting, while the hefty 2-inch voice coil drives the woofer accurately for top-notch performance under extreme conditions.

The patented elevated frame design delivers air flow directly to the voice coil, cooling it for better power handling. JL Audio designed this sub to work in compact sealed or medium-sized ported enclosures, and they offer an optional grille that'll protect your JL Audio sub in its box.

Features

Dynamic Motor Analysis (DMA): DMA is JL Audio's proprietary method aimed at improving dynamic motor behavior. As a result of DMA optimization, 12W0v3-4 motors display linear force over a long excursion range, and also maintain a stable fixed magnetic field in the gap over a wide power range. The result is reduced distortion, faithfully reproduced transients, and tight, clean, articulate bass.

Elevated Frame Cooling: The elevated frame design of the 12W0v3-4 delivers cool air through slots directly above the top plate to the voice coil. This not only enhances power handling, but also sound quality by minimizing dynamic parameter shifts and power compression.

Rear Gasket: The woofer has a rear gasket to provide an optimal seal when installing into the enclosure.

Long Excursion: The 12W0v3-4 subwoofer has 11.4mm of linear excursion, giving you louder bass with less distortion.

Enclosure Compatibility

Recommended Sealed Box Volume: JL Audio recommends a 1.375 ft³ sealed box. A diagram is provided in the owner's manual for a sealed box with external dimensions of 16" W x 19" H x 11.75" D, assuming 3/4" thick material. (If you are using 5/8" thick materials, you should subtract 1/4" from each dimension.)

Recommended Ported Box Volume: JL Audio recommends a 1.75 ft³ ported box. A diagram is provided in the owner's manual for a sealed box with external dimensions of 17.5" W x 14.75" H x 16.25" D, assuming 3/4" thick material. (If you are using 5/8" thick materials, you should subtract 1/4" from each dimension.) A round port with a diameter of 3" and a length of 14" is recommended, resulting in a tuning frequency of 26 Hz and a -3 dB point of 30.8 Hz.

Greetings Calvin, and thank you for your question. The Xenon X400.1 will be putting out 400 watts at 1,2 or 4 ohms. This JL Audio 12W0v3-4 is only rated for 300 watts, we would not advise using that amplifier.

JL Audio states that it is not necessary to reduce playback of the audio. On their web site, they state that "while it is true that the suspension of a speaker will loosen up over time, there is no need to play a speaker at half power or low volumes for an extended period in order to aid or ease into this."

The specs look pretty solid to me, Cody! The Cadence amp is rated for 300 watts into 4 ohms bridged, and this is pretty much exactly what the JL Audio 12WOv3-4 is looking for. Since you are hitting the RMS rating on the nose with the JL, you'll want to use little to no Bass Boost on the amp settings. This should sound really good if you are using channels 1 and 2 for full range speakers, all thumbs up from Bo!

This subwoofer has a top mount depth of 5-7/16" and is not considered a shallow mount subwoofer. We have other subs that are and can fit in boxes with less driver depth. I recommend contacting an advisor by calling 1-800-324-9695 to get a personal recommendation

What is the recommended air space for running two JL Audio 12W0v3-4? The box I have is a mix sealed box. I calculated the air space and I'm sitting roughly at 2 ft³. Will this work these subs or should I get a different box. I am considering a Qbomb ported box. Thanks!

It simply will not perform at it's optimum capability. I have tried other subwoofers in the past and I found that the jl audio subs are far better then the other ones I tried as far as I'm concerned they hit hard and smooth and clean you can't go wrong with jl audio

Very simply put if your running a 600 watt kicker amp to even just one of these they can definitely get loud and have very clean bass that JL always delivers.. hope this helps

I have a Fox ported acoustics box in my 2004 dodge and I'm kinda disappointed in the accuracy of the bass. This is by far not my first system.... my set up is 2 12" JL W0's with a Rockford Fosgate Prime 500 wired in parallel to two ohms at the amp and I was just expecting a lil more. I've always used sealed boxes and has great results with JL, are these just not made for ported in closures? Specs on the box are 1.55 cubic feet on each side and as per crutchfields recommendations used a 1lb of poly fill to trick the sub thinking it's in a bigger 1.71 cubic foot box.... should I have gone sealed?

My old sub was a 12w1, so I thought I was going to be disappointed since the magnet was larger and heavier. Since my old sub was blown I didn't have the patience to exchange it. I was thoroughly impressed with how the speaker sounded after it was broken in. Not as deep as the W1, but it sounded great and just what I needed

Not sure what kind of amp ur look'n for but I have a Kenwood excelon x500-1. I had it pushing 1 JL 12wo sub in a sealed box and it sounded pretty snazzy. Now I have it pushing 2 12wo subs and its even snazzier!! Barely gets warm to the touch
