Get the big bass you crave for your boat

This M6 Series 10" marine subwoofer reflects JL Audio's commitment to awesome sound, cutting-edge styling, and quality engineering. This rugged sub can really rock, with a massive magnet and heavy-duty componentry that can handle up to 250 watts RMS. It's tough, too, with a sealed waterproof front and the stylish, UV-resistant grille of your choice

Volume and versatility

The motor structure allows for extended cone movement, so your bass will be loud and low, yet precise and smooth. This versatile sub will work in a sealed or ported enclosure, but it's optimized for infinite baffle operation, so you can mount it directly into a bulkhead if there's no space for a box. Add it to your existing system, or use it in conjunction with JL Audio's marine speakers to create a powerful sound system that will really rock the waves.

Designed for life on the water

Built from the ground up for the marine environment, this rugged subwoofer sports a corrosion-resistant polymer basket that surrounds the internal structure for extra protection. The marine-grade synthetic fibre spider, injection-moulded polypropylene cone, and synthetic rubber surround provide outstanding performance, while shrugging off the corrosive effects of sun, salt, and moisture. The UV-resistant grille will stay factory-fresh even after years of outdoor exposure. As an added bonus, you're protected by JL Audio's 2-year warranty.

Product Research

Features

Marine Tested: JL Audio's marine speakers are tested in ultraviolet chambers to simulate years of sun exposure, and salt fog chambers to simulate years of exposure to salt-water environments.

Materials: The woofer cone is mica-filled injection-molded polypropylene (IMPP) with UV inhibitors. The surrounds are synthetic rubber and the woofer uses a marine-grade synthetic fiber spider with a progressive roll design. The basket and grille are UV-resistant polymer; the basket encapsulates the woofer's motor system to prevent corrosion.

Infinite-Baffle Operation: The M6-10IB is optimized for infinite baffle operation so that it can be installed in a variety of locations, without the need for a dedicated enclosure. If an enclosure is used, 2 ft³ is the minimum recommended volume.

Enclosure: If mounting in an enclosure, JL Audio recommends a 2 ft³ sealed or 2.5 ft³ ported enclosure.

Q
What amp if you plan on running (2) two of these subs?

A
The JL Audio M6 Series 10" marine subwoofer can handle a maximum of 250-watts RMS, Raymond. This subwoofer is approved for a free-air install application, and if installed in a free-air (or infinite baffle) location with no box or enclosure it can handle around 125-watts RMS. The JL Audio XDM300/1 in the link below provides great power for both scenarios and has a fantastic sound quality to match the M6 subwoofers. you'll need a marine rated power and ground wiring kit for install of the JL Audio amp. The Kicker 47KMPK4 4-gauge amp kit in the second link below is a perfect match. https://www.crutchfield.com/p_13698680/JL-Audio-XDM300-1.html https://www.crutchfield.com/p_20647KMPK4/Kicker-47KMPK4-4-gauge.html

Depending if your running a single amp for the sub or multi-channel. Im running the 6 channel Fusion SG-DA61500 280W peak power bridged at 4 ohms....sub handles the power efficiently when the gains are set correctly

Q
So I see it is 250W rms. @ 4 ohm. What is max or peak wattage at 4 ohm for this amp. Thanks????

A
JL does not list the peak power handling and we have not tested it to that breaking point. It is a well-built speaker but you should probably not exceed the recommended RMS power-handling by too much.

Q
I plan on installing this on a pontoon boat, specifically somewhere around the base of the seats. The description says that it is "optimized for free air use" but the manual seems to say there's an enclosure required. Do I need an enclosure or can I screw them into my plastic seats?

I use mine in free air and love them.

I installed it directly into the side of a Grady White boat without the need of an enclosure. All the other JL speakers I have done the same way.
