If you have an aftermarket stereo you would need to add an RCA cable, and the Kicker RCA to Speaker wire adapters, but everything else including power and ground cables are included.

I have a Pioneer AVH 2550 NEX in a Ford Excursion. The manual says it has a sub outlet on the back of stereo but I also read here that you can splice into the back speakers ( which sounds easier ). Which is better ? Is there another under the seat powered sub option ? I feel like I need at least 200 watts ( because of the large space ). Thanks

The Kicker 11HS8 can accept speaker-level or line-level signals, so you could connect it with either method. But with an aftermarket head unit, it's typically best to use its subwoofer preamp output so that you'll have the option to adjust the subwoofer level directly from the head unit. Despite being compact, this Kicker powered sub delivers very impressive bass response. If you're looking for a balanced sound with solid bass, but not necessarily trying to shake the windows, it's a fantastic option.

This actually needs a small wiring adapter to convert the RCA outputs from your aftermarket radio Hayden, you might need two pieces actually! Check out this first link below, this is an RCA to speaker level adapter (the Kicker HS8 does only have speaker level input wires). The Rockford Fosgate RFiF2SW in the first link below is the most economical choice. If you have an RCA cable on hand, the Rockford adapter is all you need. If not, add one of our Crutchfield 2-channel RCA cables in the second link below to connect to your radio, the 17-foot option is long enough for most any application. GM makes a 200 Amp subwoofer kit with a 10" kicker, made to fit underneath the rear drivers side seat. However, the bracket for the kit is only designed to fit the driver side. Is it possible for you to design a similar bracket and speaker kit to fit the passenger side? The part number for the kit is 19417146. I'd like an exact match to fit on the passenger side. Under seat subs such as this Kicker 11HS8 Hideaway don't require any specific clearance. As long as the sub isn't right up against something causing vibrations there is no issue. Most powered subs are class D and lower wattage which don't produce a ton of heat.

This Kicker sub has a rugged enclosure, so as long as you have the required 3-1/4" for this unit no additional space is required. You can slide this under a seat or stack groceries and things on top of it and it will still sound great! Since this one comes fully enclosed unlike traditional larger subs, no additional clearance needed! These bang too for the size.

Typically, the internal amplifier in a car receiver does not automatically turn off when using the preamp outputs. When a receiver does not have a subwoofer preamp output, but has either front or rear preamp outputs, those become the next best outputs to use to send audio to this powered subwoofer.

I wouldn't run it straight off the battery. Run it from a switched source so it powers down when vehicle is off. I believe the fuse is rated for 15 amps. Any source, 15 amps or under will be just fine.

Yes just use a fuse block with 2 fuses and 2 separate power wires from main single wire so you can step down fuse to smaller amp. Also make sure you use a separate ground to the strong metal of the vehicle

I have installed two of these, both in enclosed vehicles. I don't see anything that would explicitly prevent it being installed on a motorcycle, but I do see some potential challenges; Will your alternator/battery supply the power needed? Do you have a location where it can be securely be installed? Will that location be protected from moisture? As far as connecting to a specific head unit, I don't seen any issue as you have the flexibility to connect it using a low level amp output connection or tie it into a high level speaker connection. If you have the available power, a good location, and the knowledge/patience to securely wire and attach it, I would imagine you could install it on anything with a stabile DC power supply. As a side note, I have been very happy with these for what they are, but I feel like the enclosed space of the car contributes to the audio presence of these units (150 watts isn't much if you end up needing to compensate for a less than ideal install location). I am sure you would notice an improvement, but I can't say for sure that improvement won't be a little less when used in a more "open air" scenario. That is only a guess and not meant to discourage, it's just a thought that might help set realistic expectations. If it were me, I would probably still give it a shot if I had a good install location and the power to support the load. I can't think of any better options that wouldn't require building a custom box.

Nevermind. I found that the harness comes complete like an amp wiring kit. The wire is 14 gauge (power and ground) since it's only a single 8" sub with 150W RMS.

No you do not need to plug it directly into the head unit. You can splice in to the positive and negative leads off of your rear door speakers and then wire that directly into the harness that plugs in to the hideaway sub.

i've installed plenty of car stereo systems over the years and I've always found that it is best to run your power cable on one side of the vehicle and your signal cables on the other side. If you must run a signal cable and a power cable on the same side make sure you use quality power cables with insulation and a quality signal cable that is well insulated. Try to do some sort of separation so they're not running side-by-side.

Yes hook in sub connection on receiver. This is a powered sub, so you don`t want the receiver to power it also. Hooked this up in June 2018, its an excellent sub for limited space. I mounted it to the back cab wall of my F250 extended cab camper truck. I am very pleased with it. I`m sure the techs at Crutchfield can advise you better than I. Cheers

Unfortunately, I cannot speak for location on the Ram, but as for my '15 Silverado Double cab, I fabricated a frame that fit in the recess in the back wall behind the rear seat back. It was a bit too thick for underneath the passenger seat, which is where I wanted to fit it.

This is an amplified bass speaker, it does have built in crossover for high and low, but it does not support added speakers. This is an all in one low profile speaker. I used mine to fit under drive seat. Awesome sound and saved space!

I believe it does have an active crossover control, but I set it at the beginning and have never touched it after that. I also bought passive crossovers but never used them. My Alpine had settings built in that made adjusting the frequencies for the speakers easy. Sounds great! I do use the Alpine equalizer control to turn the sub up or down depending on the material being played.

It has a crossover to choose what the sub handles but does not reduce or change what your car speakers do. I blew this sub twice. My suv was just too big. I swapped it out for a 1,000 watt 15". I have plenty of bass but less room.

Yes it will work with any factory system. All it requires is a power, ground, turn in lead (ignition) and left & right audio. Crutchfield will be able to tell you what wires from your head unit you need to tap into. FYI, they are usually really weird colors.

I have this unit installed behind the seat bench of a 1991 Toyota Pickup. It's a pretty small interior if you're familiar with that truck. The Kicker unit is about the size of an oversized amp. If you're looking for more bump than door speakers, but not trying to rattle your windows than this is perfect.

You should be able to find a spot to mount this unit. Just take a look at the dimensions and see if you have a space large enough. Typically these are mounted on the cab wall, behind the rear seats or under a seat if enough room.

I have my 11HS8 under the driver's seat of a '06 Subaru Forester, which doesn't have acres of available space. It will fit comfortably under the front seat of my '17 Toyota Tacoma (either side), which I'm thinking should be similar to your '19 4Runner. As far as installation, Kicker's included instructions are very good and you always have Crutchfield's tech department a phone call away. Take your time (plan a full morning and afternoon if this is your first installation foray), get a set of interior trim removal tools (they're worth every penny...), a good set of crimping pliers and dive in. If you use the speaker level inputs, you'll need to splice into the factory speaker wiring. Use a butt connector (Scotch blocks are totally worthless, run away quickly), strip your output wire from the stereo about 1/2", double the bare wire back on itself and twist. You should have 1/4" bare and double the normal thickness. Insert into one side of the butt connector and crimp. Strip 1/4" from the input side (this is the other side of your cut, going to the factory speakers), strip 1/4" from the Kicker's input wiring, twist these two together, insert into the other side of the butt connector and securely crimp. Make sure you match left-to-left channel, right-to-right channel and your polarity (+ or -) and you should be downtown. Like I said earlier, take your time and before you know it, you'll be basking in the glow of success and killer sounds.

Yes it will fit, installation easy except for getting power from the battery which means you have to go through the firewall. Personally I would not recommend the unit. It did not provide the bass I was hoping for. My wife's stock stereo in our Highlander has a fuller sound with better thump. Just my opinion

By what I can remember, the parcel shelf on a air-cooled Type I is kind of like cardboard or thin MDF. Tucking the 11HS8 back there should work fine. Remember, bass waves (at the frequency a sub operates at...) are non-directional, meaning that you don't have to be line-of-sight for good sound. The Type I is also a small passenger compartment, so a 8" sub will provide a nice, full sound. It won't rattle your fillings, but if set up and tuned correctly it will provide a satisfying "thump". Don't be afraid to play with the gain and crossover points to really blend with your other speakers. It's fairly simple to install if you have some basic ability (and Crutchfield tech is but a phone call away), needing power and ground (which I would pull from your battery that's under the back seat), turn-on power (from your head unit), and speaker connections (or line-level if you use Kicker's adapter, which is a slick little item). Use the provided Velcro straps to secure your sub, take your time running the wiring, and you'll be downtown in a couple of hours. What you're proposing is really not much different than mounting a sub box in the trunk of a typical sedan. With the smaller area behind the seat and the fact that it is really a integral part of the passenger compartment, I think you'll be happy with how it's going to turn out. By the way, I listen to everything from jazz to hard rock and metal, country/country-rock to old-school hip-hop, and a bunch of other stuff and the 11HS8 satisfies my performer's ear (I have mine paired with JBL Club series 6-1/2" components and 5-1/4" coaxials).

Randy, I installed this in my 2009 chevy 2500HD. It installed pretty easily to my stock system. I'm really not sure about a dodge. This adds just enough base to system to make it sound great. I installed this unit and placed it under my passenger front seat. That is why I chose this unit. It does not take up any useful real-estate in side the cab. Under the seat is perfect. It should do the job for you. I don't have mine turned up all the way capacity wise and it is excellent. Mine is in a 2015 Subaru WRX so a much smaller vehicle but it should be good in a Yukon. Make sure your other speakers are of high quality so the combination of everything works well together. An amp helps it all tie in together well.

I purchased this subwoofer for my Toyota MR2 because it is a 2 seater with space limitations. It was a great choice for me. It's not a block party, however it fills the space with the right amount of bass. I added some passive low-pass filters on my rear speakers which were only 4", so I can still crank out some sound when I want to without overdriving my tiny rear speakers. With 5 1/4" speakers in the front, I have plenty of sound. I am very pleased.

No remote needed. HU will control it for the most part, although you won't have separate sub control from the HU because of the lack of RCA wiring. Ideally, turn up to what would be your loudest, set the gain and bass boost on the sub and be done with it. You can turn the bass EQ up in the HU to gain a little more but you have to watch because it'll turn the bass up in the door speakers too and maybe distort them

It has left/right high and low level inputs, I do not know what would happen if you connected mono to one or both inputs. Kicker tech support was responsive when I had an issue. I will say do not plan on using the "auto power on" feature, it did not work properly and I had to run a wire from the radio to the kicker to tell it to turn on. Good luck!

Series wiring lets you configure multiple woofers to one amplifier at an acceptable impedance. Since the Kicker 11HS8 is a powered subwoofer with an amplifier built-in, there wouldn't be any way to wire 2 of them together in series wiring. This won't do it for loud and distortion-less, you'll need to go to a 12" in an enclosure. This will just round out a lackluster bottom end. This will distort once you turn it up to impress friends.

This thing has crazy bass for it's size. It has a wide range of adjustment - supplements the other speakers for well rounded sound and can be cranked up to produce major bass without distortion or popping. You really must use the wired/remote level control that comes with it for adjustability. My specific case is that it is mounted under the passenger seat - the vibration can be a bit much for a long ride - so mounting elsewhere is probably better anyway.

The hideaway is not for rattling the car doors of people next to you in traffic but it does add some very nice low end and punch at moderate volume levels. Never had it extremely loud but it seems to handle pretty loud levels with no problem. Really happy with mine-sounds great and was very easy to install.

Brett, I have a 2006 Ram Quad Cab, speaker is in middle of and under rear seat, facing up. Does not take up too much room. This speaker will enhance the door speakers (midranges even) and add base of course, or seems to for me, has a knob installed in dash that controls how much base you want. I am happy with it, however, it will not rattle the windows if that is what you are asking. Try one or two if needed. Hope this helps.

Fills in the low end range great for a full sound, but I would not say that it does great with really low frequency. More of a tight bass for country/rock. May not be the best for rap music, speaker will start to bottom out.

I recommend you place it under your driver's seat. I have one under my wife's front seat (2011 camry) and under both front seats in my car (2013 subaru wrx) and it fills in the low end nicely. I feel if you install in the trunk you will be disappointed. You have 2 choices that I know of. 1 - pull the unit out and check the back to see if there is RCA jacks for SUB. Being a stock unit I doubt it as its all probably done with a plug in harness. In which case... The 5.0 system should already be feeding a separate sub somewhere in the truck. Track that down and take the wires feeding the sub, disconnect them and feed them to the new sub.

Run the hot wire directly from the battery, including the ground. That way you have a solid connection and not hurt the sub. Plus, to me, it's just safer to do it this way. I've done two like this and have never had a problem.

It's about 3.5" tall. Depending how much clearance you have between the bottom center of the seat to the carpet, it may be a tight fit. Ideally, you want to mount it behind the passenger's seat. I have re-installed it in a 1994 Mazda Miata and space is premium in this car. Only suitable location to mount it was behind the passenger's seat. I believe the 370Z is also two seater? Also, keep in mind that the remote bass control is pretty much useless, you want to ensure that you can adjust the base setting on the right side of the unit to adjust it once in a while. One last thing, pre-amp input does not make this unit come alive. Tapping into high speaker level input is much better, you will get the most out of this powered sub.

Mark, while I don't know how much room is under your seat, I do know that it fits nicely under my Jeep seat with a little room to spare. The best I can advise you for your situation is to measure the open area under your seat that doesn't have anything blocking where the sub would fit, like electronic modules for power seats/heated seats, seat belts, etc. I also used a box I had laying around that was the same size as the sub, just to see how difficult it would be to actually get something under the seat (like a puzzle box or game box), because you might only be able to get something under the seat from one direction, like from the back seat floor. Hope this was helpful.
