About the Kicker 46CWTB102

Bob Bihlmayer

Compact enclosure, powerful bass

Whatever kind of music you like, you need a good subwoofer to make it sound great. When you also need to keep your cargo space, you need a powerful, compact solution. Kicker's 45CWTB102 tube subwoofer gives you window-rattling bass and impressive power handling in a surprisingly small package. The enclosure includes a 10" subwoofer and a second passive sub (called a "passive radiator") which reacts to the air pressure produced by the active sub, creating lots more bass without any port noise.

10" bass cannon

Kicker built the 46CWTB102 tube-shaped enclosure out of tough ABS plastic that'll stand up to the stresses of car life. The tubular shape pushes bass frequencies into the air like a cannon, pumping deep, resonant sound into your vehicle and your ears. You can mount the enclosure vertically or horizontally, letting it tuck neatly into a corner of your trunk or cargo area. Spring-loaded wiring terminals make it easy to connect the wiring from your amp.

Kicker speaker quality

You need a high-quality speaker to maximize the sound and impact of your music, and Kicker loads this enclosure with a 10" CompR sub that's ready to step up and bring the boom. Its polypropylene cone and Santoprene rubber surround maintain their shape to give you the serious bass you expect from Kicker. The speaker handles up to 400 watts RMS so you're sure to get the impact you want, while its 2-ohm impedance gets max power from your mono amp. The package includes mounting hardware and brackets for easy installation.

Features

Overview: The Kicker CWTB102 is a weather-proof passive subwoofer featuring a CompR driver and a passive Reflex woofer designed to be installed on Jeeps, boats, and UTVs. The 2 ohm subwoofer can handle 400 watts RMS/800 watts peak power and can be mounted either vertically or horizontally.

Enclosure: The CWTB102 is housed in a thick ABS enclosure with heavy-duty grills for a weather-proof subwoofer solution that's at home in the outdoors. Connection to the sub is done with two recessed spring-loaded terminals, providing a positive electrical connection while being protected from the elements. The sub also includes all hardware for mounting it either vertically, with 17-1/16" of mounting height, or horizontally, with 10-3/4" of height.

CompR: The Kicker sub enclosure includes a CompR mounted on one end and  a passive Reflex Subwoofer on the other end. The CompR features a powerful ceramic magnet, an advanced suspension, and superior heat management for long life. Kicker uses its signature red stitching on the woofer for an outstanding bond between the driver's Santoprene surround and Polypropylene cone, providing reliable performance under extreme conditions. Kicker's SoloKon technology joins the cone to the vented back brace, both cooling the motor and eliminating distortion, for clean smooth bass. The built-in Reflex Subwoofer uses the same cone and surround materials as the active sub and is mounted on the opposite end, providing even deeper louder bass than with just the active driver.

Q
Is this considered marine-grade and designed for boat applications?
patrick  Sep 07, 2023
1 answer
A
This subwoofer is considered weatherproof and can be used on a boat. An IP rating is not provided.

Q
I would like to run two of these bass tubes on my side by side. What would be a good marine amplifier to run both of them?
nick  Apr 09, 2023
1 answer
A
That would be absolutely amazing, Nick! Running dual Kicker's will present a 1-ohm load at the amp, and we can use a marine mono amp that delivers up to 800-watts at 1-ohms for maximum performance. I suggest the Rockford Fosgate M5-1000X1, it is compact, designed for marine and off-road use and it delivers 750-watts into a 1-ohm load. It is a perfect match and can handle the rough install environment! https://www.crutchfield.com/p_575M510001/Rockford-Fosgate-M5-1000X1.html

Q
Is the passive sub just unhooked, if the active one blows could you hook the lead to the passive one?
dustin  Oct 22, 2022
1 answer
A
The passive radiator in this loaded subwoofer enclosure does not have any voice coils or speaker terminals. A replacement subwoofer will be needed should the built-in subwoofer stop working

For vertical mounting, is one side favored to be up?
neil  Jun 04, 2021

A
Preferably put the SUB down, which is the heaviest side for vertical mounting.

Hi. No. Each woofer is equal. They sound amazing in my yard. I have them in wood box planters and my neighbors hate me when the volume is up. ??

Q
What is the difference between a 2OHM and a 4OHM sub?
mark  Jul 23, 2019
1 answer
A
This is the impedance, which is a metric to determine the resistive load your subwoofer shows to an amplifier. this determines how much power the amplifier puts out, and can get pretty complicated quick! I would recommend reaching out to one of friendly advisors to ensure we match your subs and amps up properly! https://www.crutchfield.com/support/ContactUs.aspx

Q
Are these preloaded with an amplifier? And if not what would you recommend?
ivan  Mar 04, 2019
1 answer
A
No. This is a passive enclosed subwoofer so, it does need an external amp to power it. The Kicker 44KXA4001 is a great match: www.crutchfield.com/p_206KXA4001/item.html For additional assistance and personalized recommendations, feel free to contact us directly by phone or through our online chat service: https://www.crutchfield.com/support/ContactUs.aspx

ivan  Mar 04, 2019

A
Hello, this is not pre-loaded with an amplifier. This will require an external amplifier. I would recommend an amplifier that has a RMS wattage rating of no more than 400 watts RMS. The 10" subwoofer on this unit is rated at 400 watts RMS. I hope this helps.
