About the Kicker 47KMFDB3

Dave Delamere

Safely distribute power

Kicker didn't settle for repurposing car audio gear for marine applications. Instead, they created new products that will perform better and more safely in challenging marine environments. Kicker's KMFDB3 fused distribution block is a great example. If you're adding multiple amplifiers to improve your boat's sound system, this block lets you combine up to three power wires to a single power cable that connects to your battery. And for each power wire you add, simply add one ignition-protected MRBF fuse.

Q
Is the special connectors for power block?

A
There are some special connectors require to use the Kicker marine 47KMFDB3, James. You'll first need the correct amperage Kicker fuse for each connection in the first link below. You will then need some Kicker marine crimp-on terminals in the second link. I have shown the 4-gauge option which is the most common used, but we can get them in 8-gauge or even 1/0 gauge for a large power wire from your battery. For a complete install we really like using the Install Bay IBHDCRIMP in the third link, one hit with your hammer and you have a nice clean crimp! We are always here to help. https://www.crutchfield.com/p_20647RBF60/Kicker-47MRBF60-60-amp.html https://www.crutchfield.com/p_20647RT4/Kicker-Marine-grade-Crimp-on-Ring-Terminals-4-gauge.html https://www.crutchfield.com/p_120HDCRIMP/Install-Bay-IBHDCRIMP.html

Q
I need to connect three amps to this. A 1/0 , 4/0 and 8/0 what size wire should I run from the battery? Using kicker marine amps kxma 1200.2/ 800.4/ 400.2

A
That sounds like an awesome setup! You'll need to run 1/0 from the battery, and make sure the appropriate size Kicker marine terminal with fuse is on that battery post. You will need to run duplicate 1/0 ground/ground distribution block from the same battery as well. This Kicker unit below has the matching ABYC color coding for safety. https://www.crutchfield.com/p_20647MDB3/Kicker-47KMDB3.html

Q
Will this handle a 1gauge wire for the input & a 4 gauge for two of the outputs, & a 2 gauge for a third out put?

A
Yes, however, you have to use special Kicker fuses. There is a spacer between the stud and the plate that prevented you from just connecting a loop connector. Zoom in on the base of the output studs to see what I'm talking about.
