More boom in less room

Kicker's CVTDF122 loaded enclosure gives you a low-profile 12" CompVT subwoofer in a downward-firing box that brings Kicker bass power to the crowded spaces of today's cars and trucks. The rugged sealed box was designed specifically for the subwoofer, so you can count on getting maximum performance, whatever you listen to.

Built to last

The 12" CompVT sub's tough injection-moulded polypropylene cone gives it the stiffness to resist distortion when you pump up the volume. Its Santoprene rubber surround keeps the cone on track for less distortion, while the sub's 4-layer voice coil combines with the frame's extensive venting to stand up to long listening sessions. This sub handles up to 400 watts RMS, so you'll get the kind of bass response that brings the best out of your music.

Rugged good looks

The box's downward-firing design helps protect the sub from damage, and lets you place items on top of the cabinet to save space. Its sturdy medium-density fiberboard construction and rugged black carpet covering give the enclosure good looks that complement its performance.

Features

CompVT Woofer: The Kicker 48CVTDF122 enclosure is loaded with one 12" CompVT series shallow-mount subwoofer. The Kicker subwoofer features a stiff injection-molded polypropylene cone with full perimeter venting, along with a UniPlate back plate and pole piece, providing exceptional cooling in an ultra-thin design. The ribbed surround and cone are attached using Kicker's signature red stitching, providing an outstanding bond.

Down-Firing Enclosure: The sealed down-firing enclosure is made of heavy-duty MDF (Medium Density Fiberboard) with extensive internal bracing, providing exceptional acoustic efficiency and deep powerful bass. The enclosure is covered in sleek black carpeting for added protection and a refined look. Its compact, down-firing form allows it to be mounted in cargo areas, or under seats.

Speaker Terminals: A single pair of spring-posts are mounted on the underside of the enclosure in a recessed terminal cup, and will accept pin connectors, single banana plugs, or bare wire up to 10 gauge.

Power: The single 2Ω CompVT subwoofer can handle 200W-400W RMS (800W peak).

Break-in Period: Due to the complex nature of Kicker CompVT speakers, they require a break-in period in order to produce optimum low-bass response. The suspension system is very stiff out-of-the-box. Approximately two weeks of daily playing will allow the suspension to break-in and reach its optimum equilibrium. Once broken-in, the subwoofer will exhibit stronger bass performance, smoother response, and greater low-bass extension.

Customer Q&A

7 questions already asked

Q
What is the best size amplifier for this particular kicker box?
merrell  May 04, 2023
1 answer
A
Greetings Merrell, and thank you for your question. This Kicker sub box is rated for 400 watts, but there are not all that many 400 watt amplifiers. The MTX Jackhammer JH5001 would give it 375 at 2 ohms. https://www.crutchfield.com/p_236JH5001/MTX-JackHammer-JH5001.html?tp=35834

Q
What would be a good spot to put this in a 2004 Toyota Tacoma Pickup DoubleCab?
anthony  Feb 18, 2023
1 answer
A
Right now we don't have any stock measurements for where you could put that Kicker subwoofer so we wouldn't be able to see for sure if that could fit underneath a seat or along a backwall. We would suggest measuring either of those locations beforehand to see if you could utilize either location for that Kicker box though and if you have any other questions we have experts available at 800.324.9695 so please give us a call and we will get you taken care of!

Q
Would this fit under one of the front seats in a 2018 Chevy Traverse?
derek  Dec 29, 2022
1 answer
A
Greetings Derek, and thank you for your question. Unfortunately we do not measure under vehicles seats. The box dimensions are 21.5"W x 6.5"H x 14.63"D. If you have 7 inches of height under your seat, and roughly 15 inches between the seat mounting frames, it should fit.

Q
Can this sub be wired to 1 ohm?
jeremy  Dec 27, 2022
1 answer
A
This Kicker subwoofer will only run at the 2 ohm load.

Q
Where would you place this? 05 ram srt10 qc
shaun  Dec 19, 2022
1 answer
A
Greetings Shaun, and thank you for your question. I guess the best place would be under your rear seat in the 2005 Ram. That is if it fits. Looks like you may have room behind the back seat as well. All you need is 6.5 inches behind the seat.

Q
What could be a good amp for the speaker because I have a alpine one channel 500 watch at two ohm? ?
tazz209  Aug 06, 2021
1 answer
A
I have the JBL A600 and just installed the 48CVDF122. There is a break in period with the sub at half power for a week or so. However, it's pretty awesome. You're alpine will probably do fine. The RMS is 400w on the sub so you don't have a lot of extra room to move but it should get you by.
steven von  Aug 06, 2021
Q
What amp would you recommend with the sub? I also want an amp that will run my factory speakers.. 2014 Infinity Q50
jose a  Jul 29, 2021

A
Thanks for your question. For information on selecting the best amp for your sub/speakers I would recommend reaching out to an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. They will be able to help determine the differences between the amp models and help you make the best choice for your system.
