About the Kicker 48CWRT104

Bob Bihlmayer

Big sound from a small sub

If you're looking for bass for a tight space, Kicker designed their CompRT subs with compact cars, pickup trucks, and ATVs in mind. The low-profile 48CWRT104 10” subwoofer performs just like a full-size sub, but without killing all your cargo space. This high-performance CompRT sub stands less than 3-1/2" tall, so your installation options are wide open. Kicker has redesigned the forced-air cooling system, so this sub will run cooler when you drive it hard (and you know you will).

Made to bring the boom

The 48CWRT104 comes equipped with a rigid injection-moulded polypropylene cone that won't flex and cause distortion while you're cranking the bass. Its rubber surround will last through years of heavy use, combining with a special-design back and top plate to give you more excursion (which equals more bass) than other skinny subs.

Made to fit many systems

This sub handles up to 400 watts RMS so make sure you've got a solid amp to power it. You can wire the dual voice coils for either 2- or 8-ohm total impedance, giving you more wiring options when setting up your system. This versatile sub sounds great in sealed or ported enclosures.

Product Research

Features

Dual Voice Coils: This woofer features dual 4Ω voice coils, offering wiring flexibility. When the voice coils are wired in parallel, the woofer presents a 2Ω load. When the voice coils are wired in series, the woofer presents an 8Ω load.

Shallow-Mount: Kicker's CompRT series is designed to minimize depth, giving you subwoofer options where standard enclosures don't fit.

All-Weather: Although not marine certified, Kicker describes the CompRT series as weatherproof.

Cooling: Kicker engineers developed a Forced Air Cooling system, using the motor structure to pull air across the voice coils, helping the sub run up to 20% cooler than the previous model.

Sealed Enclosures: Sealed enclosures provide the most control over a woofer and provide accurate sonic reproduction, making them suitable to all types of music. Kicker recommends sealed enclosures from 0.4 ft³ to 1.25 ft³.

Vented Enclosures: Vented (or ported) enclosures typically provide better overall efficiency than sealed so they are suitable for use with smaller amplifiers, giving you more bass output from a given amount of power. Kicker recommends the following ported enclosures:

  • Minimum Enclosure Volume: 1.25 ft³ with a 10" x 2" x 20" slot port
  • Maximum Enclosure Volume: 1.75 ft³ with a 10" x 2½" x 20" slot port

Q
Looking to replace my current Harmon/Kardon rear deck subwoofer for my 2003 E500 Mercedes sedan. Will this fit as a replacement without any installation issues?
wayne  May 27, 2023
1 answer
A
The factory subwoofer in your vehicle is difficult to replace. We would not recommend attempting replacement with an aftermarket subwoofer. Our advisors are happy to provide alternative options for subwoofers in their own enclosures for your vehicle. You may reach us via online chat or phone at 1-800-324-695.

A
This is not a fit, and we have no options there sadly Wayne. The factory sub is molded into the speaker enclosure and cannot be removed without damaging the woofer and/or enclosure. Replacement is not recommended. I would consider using something universal like the Kicker 48CDF104 in the link below and small mono amplifier as it will sound better and be much less install work, check it out! https://www.crutchfield.com/p_20648CF104/Kicker-48CDF104.html

Q
Will this work well with the kicker 47KEY500.1 amp, or should i find a smaller subwoofer?
james  Jan 02, 2023
1 answer
A
This could be used with the 47KEY500.1. It would present a 2-ohm total impedance to the amplifier, which means it would output 300w RMS. The subwoofer is rated to handle 400w RMS. This is a workable setup, though we often try to achieve the maximum amount of RMS power that a subwoofer is rated to handle. For more help with selecting a subwoofer/amplifier for your project, please reach out to our advisors via online chat or phone at 1-800-324-9695. Thanks!

Q
What size port do I need. I realize it depends on cubic foot space but is there a chart ?
say what  Aug 31, 2022
1 answer
A
Kicker includes instructions in the manual for port size for a given subwoofer model and enclosure size.

Q
Should I use polyfill in a sealed box for this woofer. Specifically the ssv jeep box?
dee  Aug 16, 2022
1 answer
A
You certainly can use polyfill in a Jeep box if you want your subwoofer to hit harder but it really is a matter of personal preference. If the internal air volume for your box matches that sub then it's not necessary.

Q
when will the sale price end?
henry  Jun 11, 2022
1 answer
A
Greetings Henry, and thank you for your question. Sale prices can end at any time, what we like to do is put up a warning near the price on our site when the sale will be ending. A lot of the sale prices are determined by the manufacture, and without notice can end.

Q
What amp would you recommend for this sub?
adam  Nov 05, 2021

A
I am using the Kicker KMA800.1 to power up two subs at 800 watts RMS x 1 at 1 ohms and they thump real nice with clean deep bass (each sub is receiving 400 watts.) This is the marine rated amp because they are installed on my boat. You can go with the Kicker 46CXA800.1T if installing in your car, this is the same amp.
nick  Nov 06, 2021
A
Im running the 46CXA8001 and its hits good in a seal box under my back seat in a F150.

Q
Will this fit in the stock Toyota Fj sub enclosure?
justin  Aug 28, 2021
1 answer
A
Looks like the FJ depth that I found online is 4.3inches. The Kickers mounting depth is 3.4 inches so it will fit, however where I found the answer it says that the FJ sub is an 8 and not a 10. Can you confirm that its a 10?

Q
Will the LED grill kicker has fit this sub?
timothy  Aug 12, 2021

Yes, I am using this same sub with the LED grille on my boat.
nick  Aug 13, 2021

No need for double sided tape, the screw holes line up.
nick  Aug 13, 2021
A
could work with double side tape

Q
Can I wire two of these subs to equal a 1 ohm load using a cxa800.1 kicker mono amp?
joseph  Jul 01, 2021
1 answer
A
Yes, that amp will work perfectly with those subs. The subs will need to be wired in parallel to see a 1 ohm load at the amplifier.
