About the Kicker 48CWRT674

Bob Bihlmayer

Big sound from a small sub

If you're looking for bass for a tight space, Kicker designed their CompRT subs with compact cars, pickup trucks, and ATVs in mind. The low-profile 48CWRT674 6-3/4” subwoofer performs just like a full-size sub, but without killing all your cargo space. This high-performance CompRT sub is less than 3" deep, so your installation options are wide open. Kicker has redesigned the forced-air cooling system, so this sub will run cooler when you drive it hard (and you know you will).

Made to bring the boom

The 48CWRT674 comes equipped with a rigid injection-moulded polypropylene cone that won't flex and cause distortion while you're cranking the bass. Its rubber surround will last through years of heavy use, combining with a special-design back and top plate to give you more excursion (which equals more bass) than other skinny subs.

Made to fit many systems

This sub handles up to 150 watts RMS so make sure you've got a solid amp to power it. You can wire the dual voice coils for either 2- or 8-ohm total impedance, giving you more wiring options when setting up your system. This versatile sub works best in sealed enclosures.

Product Research

Features

Dual Voice Coils: This woofer features dual 4Ω voice coils, offering wiring flexibility. When the voice coils are wired in parallel, the woofer presents a 2Ω load. When the voice coils are wired in series, the woofer presents an 8Ω load.

Shallow-Mount: Kicker's CompRT series is designed to minimize depth, giving you subwoofer options where standard enclosures don't fit.

All-Weather: Although not marine certified, Kicker describes the CompRT series as weatherproof.

Cooling: Kicker engineers developed a Forced Air Cooling system, using the motor structure to pull air across the voice coils, helping the sub run up to 20% cooler than the previous model.

Sealed Enclosures: Kicker recommends the CWRT67 be mounted in a sealed enclosure, between 0.18 ft³ and 0.75 ft³. Sealed enclosures provide the most control over a woofer and provide accurate sonic reproduction, making them suitable to all types of music.

Q
Will they mount into a 6.5 inch speaker mount? I have a polaris rzr pro xp with the factory front speakers. I just wanna know if they will fit?
robert  Nov 03, 2022
1 answer
A
This will likely be too large to fit into the existing speaker mounting location on your Polaris. Unfortunately, we do not measurements for that mounting location. We do have measurements for this speaker, though. The necessary cut out diameter will be 5-9/16" with a mounting depth of 2-3/4". For further help with this project, please reach out to our advisors via chat or phone at 1-800-324-9695.

Q
Will these work in a free air application? Obviously sealed is better from the description, but this would replace a factory sub on the rear deck in my application.
brian  Jun 08, 2022
1 answer
A
This subwoofer is not designed to work in a free air application and will not give the sound it should in that application. We may have subwoofers that can work well there and I recommend contacting an advisor by calling 1-800-324-9695 to check

Q
Will this speaker work as a replacement for 6inch Bose under the center console?
jason  Jan 24, 2022
1 answer
A
This will depend largely on your vehicle. For additional details on fit or installation please contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. They will be able to pull up your vehicle and give you the details on if this will fit and what you will need for an installation in your vehicle.

Q
Does the Kicker 48CWRT674 6.75" fit a 2005 Jeep Wrangler, in the mount provided by Jeep?
gary  Dec 28, 2021
1 answer
A
It is deeper than the stock unit. Some minor trimming on the inside of the factory box is required. Search the internet for this as I recall someone did a write up on it.

Q
Speakers do not work after installing them in the back door of my 2014 Chevy Crew Cab Truck with 8" display. Do I need an amp? I thought these fit my pick up with out an amp? Maybe I wired them incorrectly?
jason  Dec 16, 2021

A
The Crutchfield staff may be of more use to you, but usually door speakers are midrange speakers. This is a dual coil subwoofer, so if you have wiring intended for a single channel midrange speaker running to only one of the coils, or to a positive on one and the negative of the other without bridging them, it likely won't work. Crutchfield has an article showing wiring for dual channel subs to different amps, look there for clarification. If the resistance doesn't match your factory speakers, or your factory head unit doesn't provide enough power, you probably will need an aftermarket amp. And if the rear door speakers turn out to be midrange, these really aren't the right choice. Make a box for them, add an amp, and tap a door speaker for signal.
nicholas  Dec 17, 2021
A
If you installed the Kicker subwoofer then you definitely need an amp for it. That speaker needs very good power in order to work properly. At least a good 150 minimum.
adrian  Dec 16, 2021
A
Sounds like they are not wired up right, I wired these up in the rear doors of my 2019 Ford Ranger and they sounded ok, but they definitely need an amp to sound good, I had an Alpine amp installed and now the kickers are getting 150 watts rms each and they perform great, a lot of dynamic bass, I also dynamatted the entire door to reduce rattles which is a must. Good luck!
christopher  Dec 16, 2021
A
I'm not an expert, but when I bought these, the folks at Crutchfield said they definitely need an amp.
charles  Dec 16, 2021
Q
Would this sub work okay with 40watts RMS to both voice coils?
shawn  Nov 22, 2021
1 answer
A
That would meet the minimum RMS watts that Kicker recommends and can work!

Q
What size speaker wire to use on the 48cwrt674 12awg,10awg?
reynaldo  Jul 29, 2021

A
12 was enough for mine.
kenneth r,  Jul 29, 2021
A
14AWG is fine, anything larger is overkill

Q
Will these fit in the rear doors of a 2019 Hyundai Sonata ?
michael  Jul 13, 2021
1 answer
A
In my opinion, if it's a 6 3/4 shallow mount hole, then I would think so. You'll need an aftermarket amp to make it work.
charles  Jul 13, 2021
Q
Would I be able to run these without an amp, just an after market deck?
james don  Apr 23, 2021
1 answer
A
Yes but they put out minimal bass without an amplifier
christopher  Dec 16, 2021
Q
If I hooked it up to the factory plugs in my 2012 Jeep jk roll bar would it work? Iâ??m trying to keep it mostly stock with some nice bass.
joeingo  Apr 18, 2021
3 answers
A
Joeingo, if you do power these properly, let me know how they turn out, I may try and pull something off with my roll bar as well, but in a TJ vs. a JK. I'd have to modify it a bit more to add something on the mid/high level, but that's nothing with some medical shears for the cover and a Dremel for the plastic in the soundbar.
justus  Jun 04, 2021
A
I would power these with an aftermarket amp with dedicated speaker wire. I have a bridged jl amp pushing mine and they sound amazing for such a small sub.
daniel  May 11, 2021
A
I tried this actually.. I used a aftermarket head unit and they were significantly underpowered. It will work but my kicker 6.75 speakers produced more bass. Once I paired the subs with a appropriate amp they were amazing and loud, but door vibrations will need to be addressed.
