About the Kicker 48TCWRT102

Bob Bihlmayer

Enlarge your horizons with bigger bass

Kicker's CWRT102 loaded enclosure puts a low-profile 10" CompRT subwoofer and a second passive sub in a compact box that brings Kicker bass power to the crowded spaces of today's cars and trucks. The rugged sealed box was designed specifically for this subwoofer, so you can count on getting maximum performance whatever music you listen to. The second sub (called a "passive radiator") reacts to the air pressure produced by the active sub, reinforcing the low end without the noise of a ported enclosure.

Made to dish it out

The 10" CompRT sub's tough injection-moulded polypropylene cone gives it the stiffness to resist distortion when you're pushing the volume. Its rubber surround stands up to heavy use, and combines with a specially-designed back plate to give you more excursion (which equals more bass) than other skinny subs. This sub handles up to 400 watts RMS, so you'll get the kind of bass response that brings the best out of your music.

Good-looking and tough

The box's wedge-shaped design helps protect the sub from damage. Its sturdy medium-density fiberboard construction and rugged black carpet covering give the enclosure good looks that complement its performance.

Features

Woofer & Passive Radiator: The Kicker 48TCWRT102 enclosure is loaded with one 10" CompRT series subwoofer. The Kicker subwoofer features a polypropylene cone with a Santoprene surround. The surround and cone are attached using Kicker's signature red double stitching, providing an outstanding bond. Along with the subwoofer, the 48TCWRT102 features a 10" Kicker reFLEX passive radiator, providing extremely low bass from a compact sealed enclosure.

Forced Air Cooling: Kicker uses their SoloKon technology to join the cone to the vented back brace, creating a single integrated unit. This forces air through the motor assembly allowing it to run 20% cooler and helping eliminate distortion.

Truck-Style Enclosure: The sealed enclosure is made of heavy-duty MDF (Medium Density Fiberboard) with extensive internal bracing, providing exceptional acoustic efficiency and deep powerful bass. The enclosure is covered in sleek black carpeting for added protection and a refined look. Its compact, truck-style form allows it to be mounted behind bench seats, in cargo areas, or under seats firing upwards.

Speaker Terminals: A single pair of spring-posts are mounted on the side of the enclosure in a recessed terminal cup, and will accept pin connectors, single banana plugs, or bare wire up to 10 gauge.

Power: The single 2Ω CompRT subwoofer can handle 200W-400W RMS (800W peak).

Break-in Period: Due to the complex nature of Kicker CompRT speakers, they require a break-in period in order to produce optimum low-bass response. The suspension system is very stiff out-of-the-box. Approximately two weeks of daily playing will allow the suspension to break-in and reach its optimum equilibrium. Once broken-in, the subwoofer will exhibit stronger bass performance, smoother response, and greater low-bass extension.

Q
If I use this in my 2023 Tacoma double cab, do I have to remove the black plastic back wall pieces? Or will this fit in inside the plastic cubbie hole?
mitch  Nov 05, 2023

A
I had to remove the plastic panels off of my 2015 Tacoma, so I'm thinking you'd probably have to as well

Q
will this fit behind a 2006 chevy silverado crew cab?
elidora  Apr 13, 2023
1 answer
A
We do not measure universal subwoofers like the Kicker 48TCWRT102 for specific vehicle fit, David. The best move is to measure carefully your available space and compare to the listed dimensions on the Kicker box below. Space is tight in your truck, and not many subwoofers fit! 23.38" Wide 11.88" High 6.63" Depth (bottom) 4.0" Depth (top) We do have a vehicle specific unloaded box that we can confirm fits in the 2006 Crew Cab, the Q-customs factory fit subwoofer box in the link below. This comes unloaded, so you can drop in a Kicker sub if you'd like! The advantage is the hidden fit under the rear seat. I hope this helps you choose the right subwoofer for you! https://www.crutchfield.com/p_044C1GMA11/Q-Customs-Factory-fit-Subwoofer-Enclosures.html

Q
Will this sub fit behind a 2015 Ford f150 crew cab?
big chris  Sep 28, 2022
1 answer
A
Greetings Big Chris. Unfortunately its not looking good for most any sub enclosure back there. You have about 12 inches on the floor, but 6 inches up its the cab wall and the rear seat is right up against it. The overall measurements of the Kicker 48 TCWR102 will fit under the rear seat. Or look at a custom fit under the seat sub.

Q
Can I get this in a final 4 ohm impedance ?
josh  Jan 29, 2022
1 answer
A
This model only comes as a 2 ohm final impedance which is actually great because you will get more power from your amp. If you have to have a 4 ohm final impedance, then select a different product. You can filter by impedance when searching on their site.

Q
Can I wire this sub to 1 ohm and have my kicker 46CXA800.1T amp push it and be fine?
robert  Aug 25, 2021
1 answer
A
This loaded box cannot be rewired to present a 1 ohm load. Also, this amp would be overpowered by that amp even with the way it is now being wired as a 2 ohm loaded box. I recommend contacting an advisor by calling 1-800-324-9695 to discuss your goals and gear to get a personal recommendation

Q
What kind of amp should I buy with these subs?
eric  Apr 11, 2021
1 answer
A
Look for an amp that will channel at least 300 watts RMS at 2 ohms.i have a Pioneer GM-DX874 4 channel amp with a bridged B channel at 300 watts at 2 ohms and it is plenty loud. It is a bit muddled sounding on some music but it is still very early in the break in period.

Q
Should I break the speaker in before having my stereo system tuned?
george  Mar 23, 2021
2 answers
A
Tune your current system first and allow your sub time to break in after you've tuned the current system. It can take a few weeks to break in your sub depending on how often you use it. Once you feel the sub has broken-in, the subwoofer will exhibit stronger bass performance, smoother response, and greater low-bass extension. At that point you'll want to reevaluate your system to see if there's any changes that need to be made.
allison  Apr 11, 2021 (Staff)
A
You should tune the system and then make changes as the sub breaks in and remember your ears and choice of music is different from other people so tune the system to your preference
