About the Kicker 48TCWRT672

Bob Bihlmayer

Enlarge your horizons with bigger bass

Kicker's CWRT672 loaded enclosure puts a low-profile 6-3/4" CompRT subwoofer and a second passive sub in a downward-firing box that brings Kicker bass power to the crowded spaces of today's cars and trucks. The rugged sealed box was designed specifically for the subwoofer, so you can count on getting maximum performance whatever music you listen to. The second sub (called a "passive radiator") reacts to the air pressure produced by the active sub, reinforcing the low end without the noise of a ported enclosure.

Made to dish it out

The CompRT sub's tough injection-moulded polypropylene cone gives it the stiffness to resist distortion when you're pushing the volume. Its rubber surround stands up to heavy use, and combines with a specially-designed back plate to give you more excursion (which equals more bass) than other skinny subs. This sub handles up to 150 watts RMS, so you'll get the kind of bass response that brings the best out of your music.

Good-looking and tough

The box's downward-firing design helps protect the sub from damage, and lets you place items on top of the cabinet to save space. Its sturdy medium-density fiberboard construction and rugged black carpet covering give the enclosure good looks that complement its performance.

Features

Woofer & Passive Radiator: The Kicker 48TCWRT672 enclosure is loaded with one 6.75" (6-3/4") CompRT series subwoofer. The Kicker subwoofer features a polypropylene cone with a Santoprene surround. The surround and cone are attached using Kicker's signature red double stitching, providing an outstanding bond. Along with the subwoofer, the 48TCWRT672 features a 6.75" Kicker reFLEX passive radiator, providing extremely low bass from a compact sealed enclosure.

Forced Air Cooling: Kicker uses their SoloKon technology to join the cone to the vented back brace, creating a single integrated unit. This forces air through the motor assembly allowing it to run 20% cooler and helping eliminate distortion.

Truck-Style Enclosure: The sealed enclosure is made of heavy-duty MDF (Medium Density Fiberboard) with extensive internal bracing, providing exceptional acoustic efficiency and deep powerful bass. The enclosure is covered in sleek black carpeting for added protection and a refined look. Its compact, truck-style form allows it to be mounted behind bench seats, in cargo areas, or under some seats firing upwards.

Speaker Terminals: A single pair of spring-posts are mounted on the side of the enclosure in a recessed terminal cup, and will accept pin connectors, single banana plugs, or bare wire up to 10 gauge.

Power: The single 2Ω CompRT subwoofer can handle 75W-1500W RMS (300W peak).

Break-in Period: Due to the complex nature of Kicker CompRT speakers, they require a break-in period in order to produce optimum low-bass response. The suspension system is very stiff out-of-the-box. Approximately two weeks of daily playing will allow the suspension to break-in and reach its optimum equilibrium. Once broken-in, the subwoofer will exhibit stronger bass performance, smoother response, and greater low-bass extension.

Customer Q&A

5 questions already asked

Q
Can I replace the existing passive radiator with another subwoofer instead?
john  Sep 27, 2023
1 answer
A
I suppose anything is possible John, but we do not advise it. Since this box's internal space was carefully designed for best sound using the passive radiator, you may have poor results when modifying/swapping out any components. IF you are looking for some bigger boom, consider using something instead like the Kicker 46TL7T102 in the link below if you have space. We do not measure universal subwoofer boxes like the Kicker's for specific vehicle fit, so make sure to measure carefully and compare to the listed dimensions to ensure a good fit. If you are tight on space and need something smaller in the 6-8" range, you can also consider the Alpine S-DB8V which can go under the rear seats of many trucks. I hope this helps! https://www.crutchfield.com/p_20646TL102/Kicker-46TL7T102.html https://www.crutchfield.com/p_500SDB8VT/Alpine-S-DB8V-TRK.html

Q
HI I have a Jensen mpr2121 and was would it be able to power without an amp?
wyatt  Apr 18, 2023
1 answer
A
Thank you for your question, Wyatt. The Jensen radio you have will not be able to power a subwoofer without an amplifier. You could connect a powered subwoofer or amplifier using the preamp outs on the radio. I recommend giving one of our Advisors a call at 1.800.324.9695 or by online chat, they'll be able to help with adding some bass to your system.

Q
I have a low end BOSS head unit, will this be enough power or do I really need an amp? Thanks
jack  Dec 30, 2022
1 answer
A
Greetings Jack, and thank you for your question. I glad you asked. It needs an amplifier with roughly 100-150 watts, and the Boss radio would out out 20 watts if your lucky. That low of power would damage the subwoofer.

Q
What amp would pair up best for this?
jose  Sep 15, 2021

A
Im using a 2 channel 300 watt amp. Send about 150 to each. These are pretty weak, just so you know.. they are a decent complement to a standard system though. I emailed kicker asking the same question, they recommended their mono 300 watt.
