Ready to rumble

The SubStage SF150SC15 doesn't skimp on power and performance — it comes equipped with a 8" sub powered by a perfectly matched 200-watt amp, all housed in a custom enclosure that's optimized for sound quality. You'll look forward to rumbling lows that can play back the biggest digital drum beat yet also deliver the low-frequency subtleties of a standup bass. Kicker's earned their reputation for making subs that crank out bass you can feel and the SubStage is no exception.

This SubStage fits 2015-17 Ford F-150 Super Crew and Super Cab pickups and 2017-19 F-250 and F-350 Super Crew and Super Cab models, installing under the rear seat on the passenger side. It connects to the factory stereo via two wire taps for signal, and attaches to the battery for power. Please identify your car before purchasing to make sure it'll work with this package, or you can call one of our Advisors at 1-888-955-6000 to confirm fit.

Important Note: This system won't work in Ford EcoBoost vehicles with Auto Start-Stop Technology, unless you defeat that feature.

Vehicle Compatibility: The Kicker SF150SC15 VSS SubStage Subwoofer System has been designed to work in the following Ford vehicles:

  • 2015-2017: Ford F-150 Super Crew & Super Cab trucks (with or without Sony system).
  • 2017-2019: Ford F-250/350 Super Crew & Super Cab trucks (with or without Sony system).

Subwoofer: The Kicker VSS PowerStage System includes an 8" 200W RMS subwoofer pre-mounted in a sealed enclosure that's molded to fit behind the rear seats next to the jack storage. The subwoofer also features pre-attached brackets, allowing it to be mounted with no drilling or vehicle modifications.

Wiring: The Kicker SubStage system includes pre-cut and terminated wire harnesses designed specifically to plug into the vehicle's factory wiring, making installation much faster and easier. The amplified subwoofer includes a power/ground harness, that gets run to the battery and vehicle chassis, along with a subwoofer adapter harness for getting signal from the factory wiring into the amplified subwoofer (compatible with both amplified and non-amplified factory systems).

Will this work with a 2020 XLT 5.0? My Start/Stop feature can be turned off with the push of a button to prevent the amp from going into protected mode.

The instructions address installation when there is the factory Sony system. The Sony amp has to be relocated and the signal is tapped from a different location. Kicker says this is not compatible with vehicles that have Auto Stop/Start, but I don't understand why. You may have to contact Kicker for details. However, if you scour the web, you can find a way to disable the Auto Stop/Start....

it does work. Just keep in mind that if you is the auto stop/start is will keep turning on and off. Sound quality I wouldn't recommend. I returned mind.

Does this system plug directly into the factory subwoofer connector under the carpet on the driver's side? Any additional wiring required?

It appears the plugs that this connects to are behind the driver's side kick panel. There is no additional wiring needed to install this powered subwoofer. Yes it does. It comes with power conductors that connect to the positive post on battery and the negative attaches to the frame. It comes with two signal conductors that splice into existing speaker wiring. It comes with the splice connectors for the signal wires. Nothing more needed.

It's because of the voltage drop when the auto start/stop engages. Puts the amp in protect mode. There are ways around this. After all Kick made an OEM version that Ford sells. Only different is the ford dealer needs to reprogram the trucks computer. All they are doing is turning the auxiliary sub feature on from all the research I've done. There are solutions so you can do yourself. Getting ready to try out myself.

The Kicker VSS SubStage system would work in your 2018 F-150 Lariat provided it does *not* have Ford "EcoBoost" with Auto Start-Stop Technology. It connects to the factory stereo via two wire taps for signal, and attaches to the battery for power (all wiring included). No it does not. Presuming you already have a factory sub in place which you require for this to work, it's not worth the price to upgrade. The sound is not any better than the factory sub.

Has anyone heard if this is similar to the SoundStage in that if you have the 2.7 with auto-stop it may not work? I have not contacted Kicker yet but I'm curious. I currently have auto-stop disabled due to having something plugged into the trailer harness but I don't know if that will solve the problem or not. Thanks!!

If you visit Kicker's website it states that this system can NOT be used in a vehicle with the Ecoboost/Start Stop. To be precise, "NOTE: This system is not compatible with Ford EcoBoost® vehicles with Auto Start-Stop Technology." If you'd like to verify, go to Kicker's website and enter your model and year truck under "Vehicle Specific Solutions." The Ecoboost exclusion will come up in bright red. I'd link it for you but Crutchfield prohibits external links in their Q&A area.

I have enetered my vehicle info on your website (2015 F150 xlt super crew, factory radio, 7 speakers w/o 8'' display, w/o sony sound system) and your website says this doesnt fit? Also, it says it has a 10 inch woofer, but other websites say 8 inch, is this information incorrect?
