Crux's BTGM-33 Bluetooth interface expands the functionality of your factory system without replacing the radio. Connect this interface to your existing radio, and you'll enjoy the convenience of hands-free calling and audio streaming with your Bluetooth-equipped phone. You'll use your existing steering wheel controls to control calls and music, so you can keep both hands on the wheel and drive like a smart person.

Bring aftermarket features to your factory radio

Crux's BTGM-33 Bluetooth interface expands the functionality of your factory system without replacing the radio. Connect this interface to your existing radio, and you'll enjoy the convenience of hands-free calling and audio streaming with your Bluetooth-equipped phone. You'll use your existing steering wheel controls to control calls and music, so you can keep both hands on the wheel and drive like a smart person.

Callers will hear you clearly

Install the included external microphone in a good spot for the best reception, such as near your visor or on top of the steering wheel column. You can also adjust the microphone volume so your callers can hear you clearly.

Cool music without uncool wires

In between calls, you'll need something to occupy yourself, so why not enjoy some music? The Crux BTGM-33 interface lets you listen to your favourite music wirelessly from your compatible phone via Bluetooth. Unlike older Bluetooth adapters, this Crux adapter will send sound to your front and rear speakers. When you get a call, your music will be muted so you can hear your caller on your speakers.

Please enter your vehicle information or call an Advisor at 1-888-955-6000 to find out if this interface is compatible with your vehicle.

Important Note:  This adapter is not compatible with a factory radio with a built-in XM radio tuner. The XM tuner must be separate.

Add-On Bluetooth Interface Adapter: The Crux BeeLine series BTGM-33 allows you to add Bluetooth hands-free communication and wireless audio streaming to the factory radio of select GM vehicles. The BTGM-33 add-on Bluetooth interface installs behind the factory radio using the included T-harness.

Note: To be compatible, the factory radio must have XM Radio selectable as a source, but the XM Radio tuner cannot be built into the radio. (If included, the XM Radio tuner must be a separate component from the radio.) The BTGM-33 uses the XM input in the radio's wiring harness to integrate your phone. The XM Radio source will also be retained.

Bluetooth 2.0: Thanks to built-in Bluetooth 2.0 with support for HFP and A2DP/AVRCP, you can enjoy hands-free communication and wireless audio streaming from your Bluetooth-enabled smartphone through your vehicle's factory radio and steering wheel controls. The BTGM-33 supports multi-device pairing, but only one device can be connected for calls and playback at a time. The BTGM-33 also allows any previously paired smartphone to automatically re-connect to the add-on Bluetooth interface inside your vehicle.

  • Hands-Free Communication: The Crux BTGM-33 adds Bluetooth hands-free communication to your vehicle's factory radio with DSP and Echo-Cancellation for clear conversations on both sides of the phone call. Using your vehicle's steering wheel controls (if equipped), you can answer and end your Bluetooth-enabled smartphone's calls. You will still need to use your smartphone to make phone calls and to view caller ID information. An external wired microphone is included to carry on your side of the conversation, while the other party is heard through your vehicle's front speakers. The BTGM-33 will automatically mute any source as soon as a call is received, and resumes when a call is ended.
  • Wireless Audio Streaming: The BTGM-33 adds 4-channel Bluetooth audio streaming to your vehicle's factory radio. You'll be able to wirelessly stream stored music, music apps, and other audio content (such as Navigation apps) from your Bluetooth-enabled smartphone to the add-on Bluetooth interface and your vehicle's factory radio. You can operate Play/Pause and Previous/Next Track functions from your vehicle's steering wheel controls (if equipped). Advanced music browsing and song/artist/album information will still need to be done from your Bluetooth-enabled smartphone. The BTGM-33 supports the standard SBC codec for Bluetooth (not compatible with aptX or AAC). The BTGM-33 will automatically pause Bluetooth audio streaming when a hands-free call is received and will resume when the call is ended.
Note: The Crux BTGM-33 will use your vehicle's XM source function to access the add-on Bluetooth interface as a source. Your vehicle's steering wheel controls will toggle between XM radio and Bluetooth by pressing and holding the Source button.

Retained Factory Features: The Crux BeeLine series BTGM-33 will retain your vehicles OnStar functionality and factory XM radio, if equipped. To be compatible, the factory radio must have XM Radio selectable as a source, but the XM Radio tuner cannot be built into the radio. (If included, the XM Radio tuner must be a separate component from the radio.) The BTGM-33 uses the XM input in the radio's wiring harness to integrate your phone. The XM Radio source will also be retained.

Magnetic Vent Mount: The Crux BTGM-33 comes with a magnetic vent mount for your smartphone. The mount works with most air vent configurations found in today's vehicle's - including horizontal, vertical, and round air vents. The vent mount includes a magnetic device cradle and comes with a self-adhesive magnetic plate which attaches to the outside of your smartphone or inside of your smartphone case. Once the magnetic plate is installed, simply hover your mobile device over the cradle and it will quickly snap into place and remain there. You can quickly remove it too. The mount's ball-and-socket mechanism allows you tilt your smartphone up or down, turn it left or right, and rotate it 360-degrees. You'll be able to mount your device in a vertical (portrait) or horizontal (landscape) orientation.

USB Port: A Mini-B USB port is located inside the casing. This port is provided for uploading firmware updates to the adapter.

Q
I have a 2016 Impala limited fleet vehicle with Bluetooth and onstar deleted from the build sheet and no steering wheel controls for the radio. Can this be operated without the steering wheel controls? Also no satellite radio.
peter a  Mar 01, 2024
1 answer
A
Greetings Peter. Thank you for your question. A couple of must haves in the vehicle this is to go into are it must have a XM satellite radio button on the radio, and also have radio control buttons on the steering wheel. Your best option to add Bluetooth to your Impala is to replace the radio.

Q
I have a 2011 Chevy 2500 hd. I have Xmas radio. But no steering wheel radio functions. Will this still work?
wade  Feb 18, 2024

A
Greetings Wade. Thank you for your questions. If you have factory satellite radio it will be lost when you replace the radio with an aftermarket. its not just this wire adapter, but all for that matter. You would need a satellite ready radio, and the aftermarket tuner SXV300V1. www.crutchfield.com/p_220SXV300/item.html

does the xm radio have to have a subscription and be playing xm music for the bluetooth function work? can standard fm radio be playing and it function as alerting you when call comes in and muting radio? thanks

A
You don't need a subscription to Xm. You do need radio controls on the steering wheel. I had an 08 Silverado, it worked for me.
christopher  Dec 15, 2021
A
You don't need a subscription, Mine works without one. Only problem is It takes about a minute to connect. After that the sound quality is great. John
john  Dec 15, 2021
A
No, the XM radio does not need to have an active subscripition. It just uses the XM channel input to bring the bluetooth signal into the radio. Just a warning however, this bluetooth module is very glitchy and finicky. When it works, it works great, but often times has difficulty connecting to your phone automatically.

The unit is hooked up to radio receiver interface and should not interfere with ignition if you use wire harness provided. Check where you run the wires to see if you inadvertently put pressure on ignition wiring harness. Check battery voltages.

08 Yukon Denali: Can I still listen to my SiriusXM if I install this? Keeping my SiriusXM is a priority.
david  Oct 09, 2020
2 answers
A
Yes you can
mark  Oct 09, 2020
A
Yes you can. You can switch back and forth between bluetooth and XM by holding the seek button. Works well. The only drawback with this unit is that it takes a while to connect to your phone, and occasionally it doesn't connect at all until you shut the car off and turn it back on. Also, on very rare occasion it will keep reconnecting to your phone even though it is already connected. This causes momentary skips and beeps and the only way to stop it is to restart the car. The majority of the time it works well once it is connected (always takes 30 seconds to a minute to connect), but it is pretty glitchy.

We just bought a used 2009 GMC Acadia And we would like to know what Bluetooth adapter would work best for our car. Also, is there anything we should know that is not going to be functional with your Adapters?

Everything will function as it did before installating the module. It may lag a bit to fully connect with certain phones. I have seen it happen more with iPhones. Overall, you will be happy with your purchase.

2008 saab 9-3 sedan - will this interface with the factory headunit/microphone/steering wheel controls? - my vehicle did not come with navigation but DID come with XM function, microphone, and steering wheel controls for answering, declining calls, and track selection

Yes, the steering controls do work, the sound quality is better then my brand new cars, my only complaint about this unit is when going to Bluetooth it can be very finicky (long delays, Bluetooth back to phone, and if you've been on your phone before getting in the vehicle sometimes it won't even connect.) all in all it's a good unit but can be annoying at times.

It has a flat 2 wire plug that looks to be proprietary to this device. Not a round one like a phone jack. Hope this helps.
dave  Jan 31, 2019

I don't believe so because the microphone that the unit comes with plugs into the device. The factory one does not have the same plug. The sound quality is exceptional from this unit

Have a qualified Tech installed the device otherwise you will run into problems
christopher  Jan 26, 2019
A
I installed it in my 2008 avalanche with navigation and had no issues.
robbie  Jan 06, 2019
A
Gary, steering wheel controls work for track up/down with phone music player and steering volume controls work. Mine is installed in 2008 SRX which doesn't have a couple of the buttons I've seen on GMCs, so I think you have a little more functionality (toggle Bluetooth connect on/off) from the wheel. You can also answer calls from steering wheel buttons and mute audio. The built-in ONSTAR mic is not functional with Bluetooth calling - there is a separate mic connected to the Crux adapter that you can locate wherever you like. All sound plays through existing speakers.
mark  Jan 06, 2019
A
Yes there is a wire you will connect from your factory harness that shows mic
jon  Jan 06, 2019
A
I installed in a 2008 equinox with XM only. It integrated with the steering wheel controls. However the interface is quirky and takes some practice to master while driving. It does work with the phone and streaming from an iPhone 8 and XS. I can't say if it would work correctly since you already have BT , it may work if you can disable it. The cabling was easy plug and play so nothing needs to be cut so you could do a test install but I would make sure it can be return if it doesn't work. I know this isn't the answer you were looking for but I hope it helps some.
john  Jan 06, 2019
A
Gary yes it will. I've had it in my 09 Escalade for about 4 months now and it is amazing. If you have any more questions please contact me and I'll respond immediately

You will want to contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat to discuss compatibility with your factory system. They will be able to pull up your vehicle and see if this will integrate. If it does not, then they will also be able to discuss other options with you.

I'd refrain from connecting 2 phones. The system worked great when only my phone was connected but as soon as a friend connected his phone it acted like my phone was no longer in its memory. So to fix this I had to "forget" the Bluetooth device on both devices and reconnect from scratch. Hope this helps!

1. I don't have XM radio in my car. Will this still work? 2. Will it pair with the phone automatically or will I have to pair it every time I turn the car on? 3. I already have bluetooth for phone calls but not for music streaming though. Will this affect the factory bluetooth? My vehicle is a 2007 Yukon Denali.

It plays through Xm so you have to have Xm built into the radio.
michael  Sep 14, 2018

This module didn't effect any of my factory functions and pair automatically with my phone when I start my truck. The only thing I can see you having to do is choose between what device your phone connects too. So when you are pairing make sure you choose the new module.
scott  Sep 13, 2018

Yes it will work for streaming and as long as the Bluetooth is on , on the device it will automatically connect !

You will want to contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat to discuss compatibility with your factory system. They will be able to pull up details on the year & model of your Tahoe to see if the CRUX BTGM-33 adapter will work correctly.

Q
By using the XM source, do you lose XM functionality? Or does it use just the XM preview station? I am an XM subscriber and would like to keep that input. Interested for 2011 Chevy Suburban. With Bose and Nav

You do not lose your XM functionality works great

The Crux BeeLine series BTGM-33 will retain your vehicles OnStar functionality and factory XM radio, if equipped. For more details on installation in your '11 Suburban please contact an Advisor directly by phone (888.955.6000) or online chat. Thanks!
